  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone else seen unusual wear to the premium leather? I've only got about 6k on a 2015 Ultimate (purchased in 06/15) and take excellent care of exterior and interior. To me, this seat looks like it's from a car that's a few years old. What do you think?

I have owned several Hyundai's with leather seats and never had a problem with them.
I think I would take in and complain to the dealer. I believe that they cover this type of problem the first year of ownership......

I should also add that the passenger and rear seats (although not used as much) look pristine.

I am not light weight by any means at 225 but still my seats look like they were new. Are you heavier than normal?

Since the holidays, I'm around 190 but normally around 180. Too many cookies. ;)

Do you have the premium leather?

As premium as it gets. V8 AWD ultimate. ;)

My driver seat is showing wear on my 3.8 ultimate with 5000 miles. Nowhere near the condition of yours but I have noticed it. Definitely not confidence inspiring to say the least..

For the record, I have about 12,000 miles and no sign of wear at all. My previous Gen1 was terrible in comparison.

Looks about right although I would suspect that leather conditioner/lotion was applied for it to stretch like that.

I think maybe it's more noticeable on the darker interiors. On the beige and white it doesn't seem to be an issue.

Agreed - I think creases, etc., will show up more on the darker leather. I have some one mine at 16K miles. Oh, well...

I think dark vs light is key, I have the seven year old 2009 with 60k miles, still looks much better better than my 15k year and half old R-Spec.
Also for some reason I used the seat warmer on R-Spec a bit more than I ever did on the 4.6/tech which may also played a factor.
As a side note, both cars are loved / taken care of the same way and both cars, as far as I am aware, use the. same type of premium leather as the 2015 ultimate..

What color leather do you have?

I have black like yours.. I'll try and get a few pics and post them. Like others are saying I think the darker leather shows more imperfections vs the tan.

Thanks - It would be great if you could post a couple. Very curious to see what others are experiencing.

Leather is going to wear - we have become too use to fake leather seats which wear differently and end up looking like....fake leather. Real leather needs some regular care, but it will age over time and particularly in areas which receive a lot of friction (edges which you slide against getting in and out) or sunlight.

I know that leather wears... this is not my 1st, 2nd or 3rd car with a leather interior. I think the issue at hand is the OP's car has 6,000 miles and mine has 5,000. Both my lexus cars and Acura did not exhibit this type of wear at such low miles. I am very meticulous with my cars, I do feel this is cause for concern on a brand new 45k plus vehicle.

Sorry, the wear I see in the OP's pics looks like darker leather showing some normal wear. Obviously, different grades of leather will wear differently and other car models may have different types and grades of leather. Many people are wowed by Mercedes leather and how well it wears - problem is, it is not leather.

I agree with you.
