HPP Extended Warranty

You didn't say what model year, but I assume it is 2015 since you mention Signature Package.

You do not have to purchase immediately. This may shock you, but some people at car dealers lie. The finance guy makes most of his income on extended warranties (he/she is probably only guaranteed minimum wage plus commissions on extended warranties).

If you wait a couple of years the price of the warranty will go up, but you can still get the 10 years. Everything is insurable for a price.

I would PM ep010835 to find out where he got his extended warranty via email/phone from another Hyundai dealer. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Do it.

Thanks Mark, yes it's a 2015. Yeah, i figured it was a scare tactic but i didn't bite. I'll snoop around and pull the trigger soon.

I just this minute completed the purchase of a 10 year/100K miles/0 deductible HPP Platinum VSC. I contacted 4 dealers (all out of state to me) via email and phone and received responses from two of them. One quoted me $1860 and the other quoted me $1150. If you are interested in the particulars, PM me for details.
On a related subject. I called the business office at HPP to ask about the much discussed presumed exclusion on this forum of the collision avoidance and laser radar cruise control systems. Anyone who has been keeping up with this discussion is aware that many of us, including me before today, have concluded that these two systems are among the items/systems that are excluded from coverage in the HPP Platinum plan.
After receiving a copy of the complete agreement I read the exclusions list thoroughly and concluded that these systems are indeed included in HPP's platinum plan. All of this can be found in Section III, Item 15. If one reads the second sentence carefully, these items/systems are excluded ONLY if they are "not approved by the covered vehicle's manufacturer". In other words, aftermarket stuff.
The HPP representative I spoke with confirmed that all of these systems are not excluded (read included or covered) provided they are originally installed equipment. (For aftermarket stuff we are on our own.)
So, I say all of that to say that I now feel much better about the HPP warranty and the coverage it provides and for $1150 the purchase became a real no-brainer for me.

ep would you mind PM'ing me where you bought your warranty from? I want to purchase one as well and they gave you a great price.

Thanks!

Have you tried the info in this post?

Thank you for this Aquinea, I've seen that post but asked for the PM since he paid $150 less and I believe his was a $0 deductible vs $100 in the other post.

But thanks! I appreciate it!

Ah I stand corrected. Well as soon as you find out, please publicize it for the benefit of others!

Re: HPP Extended Warranty-How to get the best price

Here is the deal on extended HMA warranty's. As said in many places buy only the real HMA warranty it has to do with the fine print.

You will/can get a much better price at the largest dealerships because the more cars they sell with the warranty the less their cost. The large dealerships in Dallas/Fort Worth area dealer cost is around $1050. That is the Platinum 10yr/100K with $0.00 deductible. I was able to get a price for $100.00 over dealer cost from three of the Hyundai dealers in Fort Worth.

I found this out by taking delivery on my 2015 Genesis ultimate pkg 5.0L at a small dealership and found their actual cost on the warranty was almost $1800.00. I don't know this to be a fact but I think their is also hold-back money for the dealership. This is why you see so many prices. I also noticed several figures on this forum given out price they paid but don't tell what they actually bought.

The way to get the best price on this warranty is not buy it with the car. You have 3 yrs to purchase this warranty as long as you have low mileage.
Then get a list of large dealers over US and call/email only the Finance Manager. Think about it a Finance Manager way off from you has only 1 or 2 chances to make a sale so most of them will shoot their low number.

I think you can buy the HPP until the car is 5 years old with 60K miles, can't you?

I was told up to 3 yrs. Just call Hyundai Finance and they will tell you since they are the ones to provide the warranty to all dealers.

FYI -- All 2nd generations are now called G80 and the 2017 will be G90

I just bought a platinum extended warranty with a 2016 new Genesis AWD. The language in item 15 under what are not covered is different from what is posted on the website and previous contracts posted by others. Item 15 reads

-----------Any of the installed items/systems not approved by the covered vehicle's manufacturer: Audio, security, in-vehicle communications and/or entertainment systems, safety restraint systems, cellular phones, electronic transmitting devices (except those specifically listed under gold coverage), radar detectors, appliances, near object avoidance systems and all laser radar cruise control components, vinyl and convertible tops, work such as front-end alignment or wheel balancing.

This is one whole sentence . All these items are listed behind a colon. I have to conclude that only the after market near object avoidance systems and smart cruise controls are not covered. All the radar and sensor based systems installed by the factory are included in the warranty. Anybody reads that differently?

It is like Hyundai realized that the old item 15 was worded wrongly and used better English in this new version.

Glad to see they finally changed the wording. Written by an attorney I am sure :D. I am in agreement with your statement that it is more clearer now and that those items are covered and any non-factory items are not.

Hi Everyone,

First time poster, but I've been trying to follow the thread. My question is related to purchasing a used 2015 Genesis sedan from a non-Hyundai seller. If you are buying it from a different brand dealership or a large used-car company how does the warranty work?

I understand that the warranty is lost if you purchase the Genesis used BUT...

I also understand that if you buy a CPO then the warranty is reinstated from initial owner's purchase date, BUT

CPO only applies to a used genesis sold by a Hyundai dealership

So.. can I buy a HPP on a car from a different seller? I assume it needs to be inspected prior to getting an offer price, which would make buying over the net impossible or difficult.

I'm interested in the car because it is a low-mileage ultimate, but wary because it is not a Hyundai dealership and I don't know whether getting a low-priced 0 deductible HPP is possible. My 06 sonata had an extended warranty that definitely paid off and I would have used it even more if I had had time to do so, so I am strongly predisposed to getting the extended warranty due to the number of electronics and sensitive equipment in the Genesis vs my old v6 sonata.

The Hyundai USA manufacturer's new car warranty is 60,000 miles or 5 years, which ever comes first. There are some exclusions such as for the audio system (36,000 miles or 3 years), and for other stuff like alignments that are only covered for 1 year. This warranty is fully transferable regardless of where you purchased the car, either new or used. Warranty terms are slightly different starting in 2017 and apply to all Hyundai's.

Hyundai also offers a 100,000 mile - 10 year (whichever comes first) drivetrain warranty, but only to the original owner. This warranty is restored to any used car sold as a CPO by a Hyundai dealer (the dealer has to pay a fee to HMA that covers the warranty cost).

There are also HMA extended warranties available, but I believe they must be purchased before the manufacturers warranty runs out, and they may cost more the older the car is. Not sure if a used car has to be purchased from a Hyundai dealer to purchase this warranty.

Thanks for responding. Is the powertrain warranty completely gone if I buy used, or does it just go down to 50k 6 years?

I think I'm going to have to call someone at Hyundai to verify whether it is possible to get a HPP warranty on a used car from a different dealer.

If not, does anyone know of any good 3rd party warranty providers? Even though I bought my 0 deductible at the dealership a funny thing happened where I ended up with Zurich being my provider. Still, they were pretty good with everything.

I put too many miles on my car, so I'm going with the plan below. My dealer gave me the $100 deductible plan for $1800 plus tax. I'm in the process of cancelling, so I can repurchase the $0 deductible plan below for much cheaper and no sales tax.

This is a genuine HPP contract. Knowing I have a warranty during the entire time I'm making payments is peace of mind. My car is new with almost no miles. Note also that I'm plugging her for the forum members benefit and receive absolutely no compensation of any kind.
