  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

First Generation OFFICIAL TUNE FOR 1st Gen 5.0's

Finally some better news. Crower gave the same answer about billet cores as GSC...however they said they should be able regrind stock cams for about $100 per cam, so $400 for the set.

On a side note, Bryant Racing is apparently pretty passionate that they only do crankshafts haha.

I wonder if the Korean Hyundia tech department has any fixes? Mercs are solid all the way to 155 limiter. Really doesn't match car's performance. My old Mark VIII didn't shake at 145. Dealers don't want to hear about it. Seems to come from the hood back nearest windshield. Can see rear lifting. Don't trust that single hood lock to hold it at higher speeds.. May try to remove rubber seal at rear of hood/firewall to let air out.

Thats the exact area it appeared to be shaking from. I rarely take my car that fast, but it's nice to know that I can without the hood shaking. I'll try messing with the seal a bit or something else to relieve the high pressure areas under the hood.

This was actually a common problem with 2G DSMs (Talon/Eclipse), and the common fix was to duct the hood. However, this is a luxury car and I'm not about to start cutting holes in my hood and adding vents. :D

Very sad news me for me!! My cams are getting grinded by Crower right now thanks to mtriples saving me a fortune. LAP3 is trying to cancel the event as of now, due to people backing out, or not able to be waiting and ought the canned tuned of of their website. So who is gonna tuned to my cams now, or even forced induction?? So he refunded 8 people as of right now, so there are only 6 people left right now including me, and I think the goal is 15 people people. They are expanding there shop in Korea right now, so he says after that, he will ask to reschedule. Sigh, I was afraid this would happen, if anyone knows anyone in SoCal area with a Veloster or Kia or whatever basically anything Korean that could message them saying they're interested to get this going again. I myself have been dying for a tune to happen, and not going to let it just go away that easily. I understand $1200 is a lot for anyone who owns a 5.0, so I am currently looking into people who have anything other than that.

Please let me know if it works. I was out in South Dakota with straight roads and no traffic when I tried it. Can't believe that Hyundia, who knows it has a top end of at least 155, would release the car with this problem.

I found the VT mufflers to be an epic fail. They are in the garage, til I sell the car. Cat delete, X-pipe & race bullets. Work & sound better.

Anyone have any updates?

Some how my last reply wasn't recorded. David recently told me he is still waiting for the 5.0 unit to arrive from Korea. He then will call me to dyno test my car for baseline then add tune and dyno test again to see improvements. Hoping he is able to follow through.

Well I'm still pissed him cancelling the event 20 minutes away from me, but last I spoke with him he said this. "We are getting a tuned ECU shipped over for a local customer sometime next month
And we will put it on our webpage for sale." Roc are you that local customer he is referring to lol?

Roc can you please pull the the ESC fuse doing your dynos. I'd appreciate it if you could. :)

What's the reason on a dyno pull? Shouldn't interfere with top end rpms/hp rating results. Something else? By way no further word as yet from David. I'm not going to bug him.

I can see where turning off ABS may be wise since front wheels aren't moving and rears are spinning. Possible rear brakes would turn on and roast.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The stupid ESC flashing mumbo jumbo!? I unplug that garbage completely when going to the track, its really annoying. Sometimes it kicks in so hard it like auto brakes for me.. Being no restriction what so ever, is good. Oh, by the way, I was talking to some other tuners in Korea, apparently they just got thru like a whole week long big holiday, and like majority of the country closes. So could be why haven't heard from him. Stuff probably has been sitting at a post office over there for like 4 days.

Got a email late Friday from David inviting me to a KDM meet at NOVA in Burke, Va. today. Unfortunately was sailing on the Bay with friends and could not get to it. Left me with too little time to re spond. However, BIG news, He said he received the 5.0 ECU from Korea. I just hope he is still thinking of using my car as a test bed. Didn't write anything more. Hope to hear more from him.

Nice. Thanks for the update.

Dave called me Fri 25th. Said had ECU in hand and to find shop in Md with Dyno Jet dyno. Found local Korean shop in Beltsville that has no problem letting him run tests. Trying to get schedule with Dave so we can do it soon. Hope no glitzs. Fingers crossed! Of course will keep all informed if and when ever we do the tests.

Hey Roc, do you know if he can do custom tuning to whatever bolt-ons, or fuel you have?? Or do you think its just a pre-loaded tune? Hopefully everything gets done for you soon, then you'll be the first young man with a tune in the US with our cars.

Anticipation is killing me.....

Beltsville, MD eh? Only two shops come to mind, Custom Performance Engineering (Great company, worked with them on my Mazda6 about 13 years ago, but they have a Mustang dyno) and Infinite Speed & Performance, never dealt with personally, but have heard good things about them, kind of a do-it-all tuning shop (Cobb dealer, EcuTek dealer, Eurocharged dealer, Haltech, HPTuners, the list goes on and on) and they have an AWD Dynojet.

Cannot wait to see the results as well.

Well, today David and I went to Infinite and dealt directly with the owner, Peter. You are correct, the shop has an AWD dyno. Peter is a great knowledgeable guy. David is also a good guy. Did 3 pulls to set base and 4 pulls with new ECU. Tried different ideas, No real difference. David thinks Korean 5.0 ECU/engines may be tuned for different environmental settings and may have different sensor settings. Took a lot of information and he is going to see if he can find the solution. We are definitively not there yet. Interesting, ran another pull with out air filter and only saw 2hp difference. The dyno is used by NASCAR boys and records lower readings than most others. But we have baseline for future testing. David was impressed enough that he wants to use this shop for LAP dyno efforts. Will post as I get any new information. Real disappointment to all of us. But that's life in the speed lane.
