  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Early Owner Feedback

On the river side around the bridge it's pretty terrible, but heading north it's totally clear past the first corner. Just have to remember to slow down once you're out of the twisties.

Just ordered my G70 (I Live in Surrey BC) - so far the whole experience has been incredible. Chomping at the bit to pick this unit up. Hoping sooner than later as the car is in port here in Vancouver, yet they said approx 2 weeks deliver - hoping that is the "Underpromise and Over Delver" strategy - great reading this thread and getting some good points on the various modes to drive in for better fuel economy - Thanks!!

What color and trim then you get? Did you deal with the local dealer at Richmond Auto mall or the one on Boundary Rd. at all? They actually have quite a few G70s on the lot in Richmond. The few times I was there I wasn’t impressed with the amount of dirt on the cars. One even had a tremendous amount of bird droppings on it. I don’t know how they deliver their cars but I think it could be improved.

Hope yours is at the port.
Dealt with Jen, from Richmond who brought the car to me - they don't want you to go to the dealership - the car was spotless - I ended up getting the 3.3 in Himalayan Grey with the black/red interior - windows tinted 50% and just ordered the Tuxmat full mat set thanks to this forum :-)

Great. Thanks you for sharing your experience. This whole buying experience is so new as we are accustomed to checking out several dealerships and trying haggle. Please post pictures when you get your new G70.

As an aside, I actually saw a G70 2.0T Prestige at Station Square Metrotown. First time I’ve seen one in the wild. It totally surprised me as I thought I would not see one out so soon on the streets. It looked really good.

3.3L Sport, Mallorca blue, and tinting.

I'm not disappointed with the timing, as I was told 1-3 weeks for delivery, and my experience manager has been quick to answer any questions I have.

You are going to love that car. The blue turns almost purple in sunlight. One of the best blues I've seen on a car in a long time.

So close but yet so far away. It may be sitting in the middle of a swarm of cars that have to be moved to get to yours. When I bought my G80 it was on the dealer lot and I was able to drive it home three hours after I walked in the door.

The anticipation will drive you crazy every time the phone rings now.

I ticked past 1000kms today!
I will say that after 3 weeks of taking it easy and driving the car nicely and never redlining it, I was very happy when I finally opened it up. The car roars at full throttle. There is basically no lag and it pulls hard and consistently. It is a whole different animal when you push it. I definitely surprised the Q60 next to me at the lights tonight!
For those of you waiting to get your cars, trust me it is worth it. I am a very happy camper.

I've had mine 3 days and I have over 700kms on it. I may pass 1000kms tomorrow if I decide to go on a little road trip and get the break in over with. Awesome car.

Going to take mine out for a road trip to BC this week! Can't wait.

KDX,

May I ask, what kind of gas milage you are observing so far?

Thanks.

First tank was just over 30mpg (Imperial) doing about 120kph on the way home from the dealership. The second tank was about 28.3mpg (Imperial), doing from 110kph to about 125kph. The wind was not kind to me on that part of the trip. I used the gas receipts to figure out the mileage, I can't remember what the gauge was saying. Now that I'm home I will be using the same gas pump to fill up when possible and I will add $0.50 after it clicks off to be consistent and will get a better grasp on what the actual mileage is. I do like breaking in my vehicles on the highway, but I also use the cruise control which is contrary to the break in procedure stated in the manual. My last 3 new vehicles have not burnt any oil and have gotten gas mileage within the stated specs. I was using ECO mode for the majority of both trips.

Using cruise control during break-in is the worst...you are stuck in the small RPM range (depending on the road if it has hills, etc). You need to vary your RPM's. So no aggressive launches...and stay clear of redline...but you must move around the RPM range to break in correctly.

I do understand what they say with regard to varying the rpm, but I will not drive a vehicle at speeds that would cause me to loose my license just to vary the rpm.

I never once said you have to drive fast.

You vary your RPM by using the paddles to alternate different gears. Really...cycling through 3 different gears would do it.

That is kind of a blanket statement. How much do you vary and how often? Using CC for a couple of hours is not going to vary much, but for 10 miles up the road I don't see that as a problem.

Drive it like you stole it!
