If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Yep that's exactly what I was thinking. I am however curious now what google search terms you used to find out which cars listed Houston as port of entry. That's actually some impressive googling skills. When I tried it I kept getting hits for import dealerships, etc.
There is the Port of Houston, but also a lot of nearby ports in Galveston, Freeport, Bayport, etc. According to this link, Houston area ports imported 87,698 vehicles in 2012.

Just like in Los Angeles, there is the Port of Los Angeles, but also Long Beach Port and one other port fairly close by.

Thanks for letting us know! This is admittedly self-serving but if you talk to him again can you inquire about the 2.0T Sport? Obviously not pricing but if the LSD is standard and if ventilated seats can be an option?

For all of us, is there a definitive list of color choices?

Really seems like our configs will mirror those in Canada. So, yes for LSD on 2.0T Sport manual, but no ventilated seats.

Still waiting to see our interior color choices...

Fingers crossed for brown!

I thought so too, it was the mentioning of an LSD being optional for the 2.0T sport in the press release that threw me off. Hopefully we'll find out soon.

That would be Port Hueneme, near Oxnard CA, north of LA. Brands imported or exported: BMW, Mini Cooper, Rolls Royce, Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, Maserati, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Aston Martin, Mitsubishi, General Motors, Honda, Acura, Toyota, Nissan, Tesla.
That doesn't take into account the Port of San Diego, 60 miles to the south of LA.

There used to be someone on this forum who could see the Hyundai imported cars at Port Hueneme from his office, and he would sometimes go down and look the cars that just arrived and report back to the forum.

Pretty sure they import some Genesis into Seattle, or near there as well. When I decided to buy my G90, we already had one allocated to us how I wanted. It had just come into port and was on a train in Montana. This was mid May of 2017. Genesis was giving us an ETA of early Oct. when it was on the train in Montana. It showed up on our lot on June 1st, and I took delivery June 2nd. Way before the Oct ETA we were given. By Oct, we were seeing the 2018s.

Confused. If the car was arriving at the Port of Seattle what was it doing on a train in Montana?

It had arrived in Seattle, but since it was already allocated to us, it was put right onto the train heading East, and was in Montana. No sitting around at the port.

We're all so curious what we'll get in the US, count me in as well! But I don't understand your question about the 2.0T Sport and LSD. I could see your concern if the rumor was that it will NOT make it on the 2.0T Sport but the fact that it's reported to be optional seems like good news, no? Optional means the price without LSD would be less, then add the option cost and you're back to even. What am I missing? Happy to be impatient right along with ya! :D

My potential issue is at this point, hypothetical. We'll know once the information is released but my issue would be if the LSD is only available as an option adding onto the total cost whereas in Canada the LSD is standard on the 2.0T sport.

If it is only available as an option, I'll suck it up and pay for it but I would also want the ability to add on the ventilated seats as well.

Impatient is a good word to use-release the pricing info and final specs already!!!

New press release. The second of four leading up to the release.

Genesis Newsroom

Exterior Design features ‘Athletic Elegance’ theme
G70 was designed with an intuitive, driver-centric cabin and high-quality materials
Standard 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
Optional 660-watt, 15-speaker Lexicon audio system resets the in-car auditory experience for the near-luxury sport sedan segment

Note to editors: This is the second of four product-related press releases in the lead-up to the U.S. market launch of the 2019 Genesis G70.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., June 28, 2018 – The 2019 Genesis G70 is the first near-luxury Genesis sport sedan and outpaces its direct competition in design, quality and craftsmanship—particularly in its class-leading interior. The G70 is the third of six new Genesis models slated to debut by 2021, and the final sedan of the lineup.

“The bar is set higher-than-ever in the luxury segment for vehicle quality and performance, making unique design and outstanding craftsmanship key differentiators in this industry,” said Manfred Fitzgerald, Executive Vice President and Global Head of the Genesis Brand.

The all-new G70 showcases the future direction of the Genesis brand’s design identity.

Athletic elegance is represented in the exterior styling, as the car captures both beauty and tension, like an athlete poised to perform.

Luc Donckerwolke, Executive Vice President and Head of Genesis Design, said, “At Genesis, we shape fascination and desire with the passion, dedication and talent from our designers. We modulated all parameters from the Genesis DNA to tailor a sports sedan. The G70 is designed to captivate all the senses with tensioned muscular volumes.”

The long hood and short front overhang, elegant roofline and assertive multi-spoke alloy wheels combine to form a sleek, dynamic profile, subtly highlighted by dark chrome aero trim.

The unique daylight opening and parabolic sidelines further express the unique design signatures of Genesis, displaying fast and dramatic energy with voluptuous forms and smooth surfaces.

From the front and side, the G70’s prominent crest-type grille, character lines extending from the hood emblem, and pronounced air intakes communicate the muscular performance that the car is capable of.

Two distinctive linear LED DRLs on each side of the large crest grille are evocative of recent Genesis concept vehicles.

In the rear, the LED combination lamps continue the quad lamp theme, while the raised trunk lid and compact bumper designs give the G70 a poised character. The rear lamps, evolved from the G80, have been stretched to the end of the rear to convey a wide and dynamic stance.

Authenticity and attention to detail define the interior characteristic of G70. The first thing you notice about the interior of G70, upon entering, is its focus on providing an easy-to-understand, driver-centric experience. The cabin radiates luxury and sophistication while maintaining a sporty, refined aesthetic.

“When designing the cabin of G70, we focused on delivering maximum comfort, using a variety of genuine materials, and fit and finish,” said Donckerwolke. “These are the enhanced details that contribute a feeling of opulence to the overall interior feel.”

Soft-touch, high-quality materials line the cabin of G70. Genuine stitching adorns the top of the dashboard, and is woven along the edge of the front console. Optional, authentic aluminum is applied liberally throughout the interior as trim for the doors and console, as well as to the pedals. The shift lever is wrapped in leather while the three-spoke steering wheel features standard perforated leather. An available Dinamica microfiber headliner, finished in either black or gray, adds a touch of serenity to the cabin.

Special attention was paid to make the seats of G70 stand out from the competition. Unique among premium sport sedans is the availability of several types of quilted-pattern, heated and ventilated seats covered in smooth, Nappa leather. (Black or gray leatherette seats are standard on 2.0T models.) Sport Quilting features a repeating diamond pattern on black seating surfaces, with a choice of gray or red contrast stitching. The calming pattern of the Luxury Quilting seats is available in both gray and black. A burgundy upper-dash finish is optional with the black Luxury Quilting.

“It was important to create harmony between the exterior and interior design that corresponds to the characteristics and logically reflects the Athletic Elegance design theme of the vehicle,” said Bozhena Lalova, Head of Genesis Color and Trim. “The quilted patterns throughout the interior, which were inspired by bespoke fashion and furniture, exceed expectations for individuality and brand identity.”

G70 also offers an unprecedented level of standard and optional interior features designed to enhance the in-car experience without taking focus away from the pleasure of driving. G70 comes standard with a 7-inch color LCD multi-information display located between the speedometer and tachometer, and a floating, 8-inch, wide-view display audio touchscreen is positioned atop the center stack. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are both standard as are Sirius/XM Satellite Radio and HD Radio. An integrated navigation system and Qi wireless charging are optional, as is a heads-up display and surround-view camera system for easy parking.

A highlight of the interior of G70 is its available, 15-speaker, 660-watt Lexicon audio system. With QuantumLogic multi-dimensional sound and Clari-Fi music restoration technology, G70 is transformed into a mobile concert venue. Under-seat subwoofers and two immersive listening settings, Audience Mode and On Stage Mode, completely fill the cabin with sonorous tones. Quite unique in the segment, this high-end audio system is a feature included within most trim package variants of the G70 across the vast majority of the forecasted model range mix.

I think either way, you get what you pay for. If the 2.0 Sport comes without LSD, it will be baked out of the price (reduced). At least surely (if you believe the press release) you will get what you want if you're willing to buy the option as needed.

My curiosity lies in wheel selection. I want the 3.3 engine with all the tech (360 cam, Nappa leather, HUD, etc), but not necessarily the Sport package. In Canada, in order to get all the tech with the 3.3, you have to get Sport. I don't really care for the 5-spoke sport wheels and prefer the 10-spoke premium alloy wheels. We shall see what happens, but I may have to step down to the 2.0 to get those wheels or it could even be a deal breaker and I'll pick a different car.

I want a 3.3t too but I hate the 5 spoke wheels look too. Let's see what are the options here in USA.

It's been spotted with the 5 spoke wheels on press cars in LA unfortunately

I didn't like the 5 spoke rims, but after washing the vehicle a few times I like them.

Same here 3.3 sport but with 10 spoke do not like the 5 spoke at all

This is the g70 I want. Unfortunately the US marketers do not have my taste but Genesis isn't the only one that sells the car I want in the US market. We will see

How do you know US marketers don't have your taste, trims have not yet been released? When the news is out and it turns out you're right, where will you get the car you want in the US?

It's not just the wheels, but also the dark chrome. Why does a top spec 3.3 have to have this aggressive look? Clearly lots of people are into that style and the 5-spoke rim does look good for "that look" (heavily sport). I just prefer standard chrome and a more luxurious look without missing all the extras. Cmon Genesis, do the right thing for the US!
