  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

I see that you have the StreetGuardian SG9663DC - Dual Channel Dash Cam. I'm interested in getting a dash cam for whatever car I end up buying, I was wondering if you could tell me what your thoughts are on that particular model and why you went with it versus the plethora of other choices on the market.

Thanks!
There were a number of reasons.
1. Very highly rated and reviewed. (Best Dash Cams of 2018 | DashCamTalk)
2. Phenomenal support. Can't emphasize this enough. You need a cable extension, extra adhesive strips, etc. usually provided at no charge. Double warranty if you purchase direct.
3. Best Video
4. Offers all the features I wanted and provided great dual camera capabilities. (SG9663DC | DashCamTalk)
5. The rear camera module fits under the power sunshade with no interference.
I have had it for 6 months with no issues and excellent video quality.

Thought this was interesting.

From: Genesis G70 is the sports sedan to buy
Genesis is available to all Hyundai dealers as long as they open stand-alone Genesis stores by January 2021. So far, 173 dealers are in the process of opening one, with the initial handful opening in the next few weeks, according to Genesis spokesperson Kevin Smith. Hyundai expects to have 400-plus dealers on-board by early next year, with the remaining 400 or so opting not to participate.

My dealer said there are cars sitting in Baltimore. Doesn't really matter where they are, they are NOT at the dealer. Both Hyundai and Kia bring cars into the Packer Ave terminal in Philly though.

Agreed...it doesn't matter where they are if they aren't at the dealerships...why go looking for them at the ports, LOL?

Here is where we need to find someone. US ports used by Hyundai ( SAN DIEGO, CA, PORT HUENEME, CA, PORTLAND, OR, BRUNSWICK, GA, PHILADELPHIA, PA).

I live in Portland.

Where exactly would they be held? There is a chance I could possibly swing by and take a peek, though I doubt they could be seen from a public road. Either way, still interested - who knows, maybe I really could get a legitimate view of the cars?

I work in Baltimore and know exactly where the car ports are located... unfortunately, Baltimore is one of the largest, busiest auto ports in the country and there are literally tens of thousands of cars sitting here... fat chance I'd be able to find them

LOL I was zooming around the port on Google Earth and saw this: 1534438589954.webp

Pretty unmistakable "Hell Green" color on the new MB GT-R!!! However, finding the G70s via this method will be difficult because as I said there is at least 10,000+ cars sitting there at any given time and the G70 doesn't stand out like that Hell Green LOL

I don't really like the new XL, at least not yet, lol
My wife wants the red one if possible, with "all buttons", that means it has to be Ultimate, LWB or Sport. I did my research and I have found a few in my area. Once I'm back from the trip later today, we'll go tomorrow to get her something.

The XL cames with 2.4L engine or was it 2.0? that's too slow for her :D
The XL comes with a 3.3L V6. The new body style of the LWB won't be here until the 2020 MY. The 5 passenger Santa Fe (previously Santa Fe Sport) comes with the 2.4 or 2.0t

How did G70's or any other Hyundai vehicles get in this port? USA Import Data for Hyundai (https://www.usaimportdata.com/usa-import-product-g70-importer-hyundai-exporter-hyundai.aspx) does not even identify Benicia as a port of entry. Unless they were shipped intermodel by rail transport to Benicia from Port Hueneme. CA?

That same data shows the first date of 06/14 for shipments to the US with G70's in the inventory.

As to identifying G70's in a satellite photo, you have superhuman vision. I have Google Earth Pro and at the closet magnification, I can not definitively identify specific cars especially with all of the protective white wraps the vehicles are covered in. If you can attach shots that show discernibly specific vehicles I would love to see them.

Everyone’s creativity and enthusiasm are definitely keeping me motivated to wait out this crazy thing!

You guys have way too much time on your hands. Aren't us working class folks the ones who are the target demo for the G70? You retirees should go pick up G80s/90s! ;)

The G70 is about as "sedate" as my tastes run. Remember, I'm the guy who's still keeping the Mustang GT on the list of possibilities. :)

Yeah, I know that now, lol
We bough another LWB, '18 Ultimate. We didn't like the new body anyway.

I think this belongs to this thread.

As a potential buyer, I am just a tad disappointed with the trap speed but seeing how they tested it in California, 91 was likely used. We won't know the correction factor until they upload the test sheet on their website. Article also states they expected it to be faster than the Stinger but this particular example wasn't.

So it's confirmed that the 3.3T Sport Dynamic Special Edition is $50,000? The Dynamic Edition is the red one, while the Design Edition is the green one.

This leads me to believe that the non-special edition 3.3T Sports will be even less than that. Maybe around $47-48k? That gives $2-3k for the special editions...

No, nothing’s confirmed.
Then what is that picture posted by @AWD above from Car and Driver (September 2018)?

Where is @Beefer at? Can you make some more calls to the higher level ppl at Genesis? How'd your test drive go in Canada?
