Had my Genesis for 10 days - appears the electrical system is haunted!
1) On the afternoon of Saturday August 1st exited car normally with seat and steering
wheel assist acting normally, returned to car about an hour and a half later and found the seat base all the way forward and the seat back at an alarming angle forward almost touching the steering
wheel. Attempts to reposition the seat using seat base adjusters were unsuccessful – no response. Attempted to use seat memory selector, this also did not work. I am 100+ miles from home with no way to drive the car – not very happy with a car I had for 6 days. Squeezed my arms into the floor area to depress the brake with one hand and push the start button with the other – car started and seat went back to memorized position.
2) Same evening as above drove the car a few miles to another location, parked and returned four hours later (now dark) – seat position is OK. Started car, lights in ‘auto” mode, AFLS warning started flashing and continued to do so – looked in manual and noted if light flashing indicates issue in system, see dealer. Shutdown car for 1+ minutes; on restart no flashing AFLS warning. Drove car a few miles to gas station, car shutoff for about 5 minutes on restart AFLS flashing again. Drove car about 15 miles found a place to get off highway and again shutdown car for 1+ minutes on restart no flashing warning light – drove 75 freeway miles more with no further issues. Only one night start has been done with since above issue – no flashing warning this time.
3) Beginning Monday August 3rd during my normal commute to work (50 minute drive) at 7:30 to 8:30 AM on sunny morning I note that auto headlight are cycling on and off with no specific pattern also noted same behavior on commute home – this has continued during all day time driving this week.
4) On the evening of Tuesday August 4th noted that audio occasionally went off. By my commute Wednesday morning all sources of audio were intermittent, by evening commute audio was more off than on. Noted that if audio was on and I initiated a voice command the system would hear and respond but usually telling me the channel or function was unavailable. If I initiated a voice command when audio had gone off I would get this message on the display: "SDS is being prepared in the background. Please try at later time."
Going back to dealer tomorrow!
