If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Or their is a problem the local dealer cant rectify. This form could hold valuable information if people freely contribute. Read a few threads on Freds TDIClub Forums - Powered by vBulletin you'll learn what fails & how to rectify it. They even have dealers over there offering cars for sale..

Last week of December = good timing for a hopeful bonus at work. Could also use tax return towards a down payment. The dealers also won't feel high and mighty at that point since the national supply will be greater. You really think they'll be discounted 10k though? I could see 5k, but 10k would be nice.
No way. Perhaps $2-4 K

I would agree with that. They can’t keep the luxury car image and discount like a Kia. I would bet they would underwrite the dealer to keep that from happening. It is as if enough folks keep saying wait they believe they can make a deep discount happen. Genesis is not in this for the short run. I believe Genesis can play the waiting game just others believe they’re going to.

That's what I'm specting too. Maybe $5K on the higer trims but no more. G70 per se is a very well equipped car at a very competitive price. Going too low will go against the image of a luxury brand.

Yep, I've been to both Ed Voyles and Jim Ellis. I have an out the door price in mind, and until any dealers in the area will offer a discount off MSRP and give me a decent trade in offer, I'll wait.

I would suggest that you also look to sell your car outright to a dealer through KBB. You describe your car online and they give you what they call an Instant Cash Offer that they provide to local dealers who then contact you if they're interested in buying the car. You're not obligated to sell the car to any of them. Moreover, once you take the car into the dealers for them to personally evaluate, they start to compete with each other and raise their offers. That's what I'm doing right now with my 2014 Jaguar.

My initial KBB offer was higher than Carmax offered to pay me and was higher than any of the three out-of-town Genesis dealers offered to give me as a trade-in. And as I said, now that I've been taking it into the local dealers who initially offered the KBB price, the offers are increasing. I have two more appointments today and then I'll be selling it to the highest bidder tomorrow before flying to DC on Saturday to pick up my 2019 G80 Sport.

I would somewhat disagree with that based on the OTD pricing of the G80, some people are getting 8-10k off MSPR, so is definitely possible. The problem here is Genesis is selling a Sedan in an SUV world so I think deep discounts are coming. Just my opinion.

Right now they are mostly clearing 2018 models. Is that holding up on the 2019?

Until they have legit Genesis dealerships with a Lexus-like experience

I'll look into that. I would definitely sell private party if it were paid off, but it would be a pain without the title in hand.

Depending on state, the trade-in value will cut the final purchase price of the new vehicle... meaning significant savings on taxes. Here in IL, it's nearly break even selling private party vs trade-in after considering taxes.

Given the current sales trend and the preference toward SUVs, by April of 2019, I would think the 8-10K discounts would be on the newer models (including lease cash). I don't have anything to back that up, just mere wishful thinking.

Yes, but you're also getting a six-month-old car. It's just like if someone purchases a 2018 now, as soon as they drive off the lot, the car has suffered one-year's worth of depreciation. If you're planning on keeping the car for a long time, it doesn't make much of a difference and the added up-front discounts definitely make it worthwhile. That's the reason that I was going to get a MY18 Stinger GT2. But when I started looking at G80s, there wasn't a big enough spread between the MY18s and the MY19s to offset that full year of depreciation. IMHO

It seems like some people are adding the "offers" into the discount, and it probably shouldn't be done that way. I am looking to buy in March to April and my thought process is that you should be able to get the highest trim for ~5-6% off MSRP, plus any lease cash, conquest, etc on top. I just can't see these cars selling for MSRP past December-January, especially with the 340i coming out in March, and most likely leasing similarly to the G70.

I agree with you that it would be more beneficial to others if people posted what discounts from MSRP they were getting from dealers themselves rather than including in the Genesis rebates since those can change from month to month. Or give both the before and after prices. That way it will be easier to do an apples-to-apples comparison. Although I suppose I can understand some people being reluctant to pass on that information because they don't want to be embarrassed if it turns out that it was a bad deal or others have done better. I, personally, don't care if others get a better price. In fact, more power to them!

To answer your question about 5-6% off in March or April, I'll be happy to provide my info on my purchase in October.

MSRP: $56,560
Dealer Discount: $2,698 (4.77%)
Genesis Incentive: $1,500
Cost of Car Itself: $52,362 (7.42% total discount from MSRP)

I don't think OTD is relevant because TTL will be different depending upon where one lives. To be honest, when I made the decision to purchase a 2019, I fully expected to have to pay MSRP, and I was thrilled when Turtleboy posted that Genesis was already offering $1,500 off. Now that I've seen sales figures, I wouldn't be surprised if that goes up in the near future (if it hasn't already).

ETA: I didn't realize that I was in the G70 Forum because I access, read, and reply from the "New Posts" heading at the top of the page. I hope my information is somewhat useful to G70 buyers anyway, and I apologize for any confusion.

3.3 Sport AWD

MSRP: $52,725
Dealer Discount: $1,000 (2%)
Genesis Incentive: $2,500 (Lease Cash Back)
Genesis Incentive: $1,000 (Conquest Offer)
Cost of Car Itself: $48,225.00 (9% total discount from MSRP)

Note: I have not purchased yet. The above numbers are agreed on as of right now. At final negotiations...I plan on asking for another $1k off MSRP.

OTD is a bit relevant. I've got quotes & than seen dealers around here try to bump price back up with dealer add-ons/junk fees.

Is your purchase a G80? I see no G70 priced so high...even with dealer add ons. Dynamic AWD being the most expensive.

If so...it really does not belong here as it adds confusion. This is G70's only.

Update...nevermind...you updated your post :)

Appreciate it guys! Very helpful. Hopefully we sneak into that 4-6% off MSRP range by next year.

I agree with this. I mentioned this before, but I've seen dealer discounts advertised for thousands of dollars off, but dealer add-ons add back onto the discounted price so it's close to MSRP again. I once tried to negotiate to remove the add-ons, and the dealer said they'd remove the dealer discount if I did. I probably could have negotiated harder to include the discount and remove the add-ons, but I digress.

In the end, I think it'd be helpful if people just included a price breakdown of their OTD price with discount off MSRP, manufacturer rebates, and dealer add-on packages. Of course people are free to post as much information as they want, but this format would be most helpful.

So then for a typical car deal in this vehicle class, is a 5% discount off MSRP good if you don't include manufacturer's incentives? I just mean in general and not for the G70 at this time.
