  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

lol no ... I am still here. I guess I was hoping to get my regular 10 - 15% off of MSRP like we get on almost every car including A4 and C300 and more on Q50

Personally I lease only because it's cheaper. But if leasing is as expensive as financing a lightly used car that is one year old (2018 cars are normally sold at 65%-70% value of MSRP) I would alway recommend financing.
You cannot compare used cars to new cars...and you cannot compare leasing to financing. And you certainly cannot compare new cars that have been out for a year...to a car that has been out for 1.5 months (negotiating-wise). Sorry.

I don'tuse lease hack but Car Finance BOSS but my numbers are almost the same.
MSRP: 50300
MF: .00068
RV: 50%
Lease cash: $2500
Conquest: $1000
Adquisition fee: $750
Dealer fee: $699
Down: $3175
Payment: $675 taxes included

Thanks for the detailed numbers beefer. I appreciate it. I only wish the dealer was as thorough and nice.

He had disdain in his tone that I was pointing other cars in the class (with even better badges) leasing for less.

He simply said its what it is.

Everything I see says 6% for Florida vehicle sales tax. Do you maybe have local sales taxes also?
Yes we have local taxes. In South Florida Monroe is 7.5%, Miami is 7%, Broward is 6% and Palm Beach is 7%

Yes, but you don't pay those extra local sales taxes on the total cost of the car, only on the first $5,000. So the total sales tax owed is the flat 6% state sales tax, plus another $50 (1% of $5k) for local taxes if you live in Miami-Dade or Palm Beach counties.

Could you please explain? I lease and I've ALWAYS paid taxes for the for the whole sum financed NOT the first $5000. For example if my monthly payment is $500, you add 7% taxes for a total of 537$ x 36 months, I'm paying 7% tax for $18000 and that is a lot more than $5000

I'm sure Pro G80 Own will have more info but I got curious when he posted that so I know for the future and did some searching. In the case of leasing there may not be a limit but have found a number of articles referencing what he said. The local sales tax can only be applied to a maximum of $5,000. Anything over that is only subject to the state 6% sales tax. It also looks like there is a maximum to the amount of tax that can be charged in total.

Florida Sales Tax on Car Purchases:
Vehicles purchases are some of the largest sales commonly made in Florida, which means that they can lead to a hefty sales tax bill. This page covers the most important aspects of Florida's sales tax with respects to vehicle purchases. For vehicles that are being rented or leased, see see taxation of leases and rentals.

Florida collects a 6% state sales tax rate on the purchase of all vehicles. However, the total sales tax can be higher depending on the local tax of the area in which the vehicle is purchased in with a maximum tax rate of 1.5%. It should be noted that the local tax is only applied to the first 5,000 dollars of the cost of the vehicle. The maximum tax that can be owed is 1,025 dollars.

Wow that's good to know. Looking at the last 8 lease contracts I have (with 6 different dealers in two different counties) I've always paid 7% tax for the whole cost. I've been cheated many many times for around $100 each time

I don't think you were. The link to leasing says it is taxable and doesn't mention a limit or anything. It seems like when purchasing a vehicle there are limits to local and overall sales taxes that can be collected but when leasing, the entire amount is taxable without limits.

I read it and it's true that the leasing page is pretty vague. What is certain is the $5000 limit of the extra 1.5% local tax on the car sales. Thanks, I really felt cheated more than twice.

Sorry, not following I guess. You said you lease the cars so there wouldn't be the $5,000 limit for local sales tax since there isn't a purchase.

Correct. According to that webpage the $5000 rule applies to sales but is not clear about leases.
In my personal experience I've allways paid 7% for leases.

When I first got my 2014 Jaguar XJL here in Miami, I initially leased it, but then decided to purchase it outright 12 months later. While I am 100% positive I only paid 6% sales tax when I purchased it, I'll have to double-check my old paperwork to see whether I was paying 6% or 7% on my monthly payments during the lease period. My wife and I are currently staying at our condo on Miami Beach for the next few days, so I don't have access to my files at the present time. However, I'll take a look at them when I get home and post what taxes I was paying back then.

I really appreciate you to do that. I just checked 8 different lease contracts I made in Miami Dade and Broward and all of them use 7% tax.

Does it mattered where in FL the car is registered? States charge tax based on if it is registered in the state but I don't know if districts work like that.

I think taxes depend on the district. I have one car leased in Broward county (6% tax) and they charge me 7% tax that correspond with my address in Miami Dade county.

According to Genesis' website, the 2019s are now in North Carolina at Genesis of Burlington. I do not see the inventory on the dealer's web site or any third party sites. What also is odd is if I search for inventory using Burlington's zip code nothing shows up. If I use a Winston-Salem zip then the inventory at Burlington shows up. Will cross post in the similar thread.

Here in Florida, Don't know how the taxes work on lease cars, as I only purchase. Florida tax is 6%. My County (Lake County) tax is 1%. However, that 1% is only on the first $5000 paid on the car. So, if you buy for $20000, you pay 6%, $1200 to the state, and 1% of the $5000 max, $50, to the county, for a total of $1250 tax.

BTW, don't matter what County you buy from, you are taxed by the county you live in.
