  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

SPYSHOTS: The next generation of the Genesis G80 is here

I kind of disagree with the is looking like MBZ. MBZ doesn’t do a split tail and headlight design on there vehicles. Also that isn’t a side vent, that is the turning signals. Genesis is is offering it on the fenders instead of the wing mirror housing. Look at the G90 for example.

while not split in the sense of 2 independent light fixtures, it reminds me of this:

Is it really going to be a sport back? That’s quite the design change!

Look at the spy shots from earlier in this thread. Side profile looks very close to the render.

It might just be me but I kinda don’t see it but I kinda do if you get what I mean. I think it’s best to see the actual pictures of the G80 to kind of conclude this. I’m not a fan of MB vehicles especially design wise. I also don’t like how they have the shifter on the steering column which kind of looks like a fancier pick up truck shifter.

I feel the same for the most part about MBZ..

and I think this render is more on target, at least insofar as the front:

or this one:

As much as renders are good for a basis of what the vehicle could look like, I’m not really a fan of renders. I’d much rather see pictures of the prototypes driving around then see renders. I could be the only one in this case again but seeing the prototypes go from not having production components to having production components is far more important to me.

Hey so I just want to state something that I just recently realized. The interior pictures that I posted where not of the G80 rather it was the GV80. I found the original poster of the pictures and he included a hashtag that says GV80 not G80. Mind you I got those pictures from here G80 실내 - 보배드림 직찍/특종발견. Here is the original picture from the person who took it.

My apologies in advanced to the people who got excited for the interior pictures. But just want to say that although this is the GV80 interior, there is a big possibility that this will somewhat be similar to the one the G80 will have.

I can confirm that the interior it's for g80 not gv80
And If we looked close we can see there is some different in the steering wheels between g80 and gv80

This is the real source it was posted 4 days ago: 제네시스 G80(RG3) 실내 스파이샷 - 보배드림 국산차게시판

And that instagram account just uploaded the same pics about 19 hours ago

Thank you I appreciate you checking that out and giving the full correct source!!

Wow! Hyundai seriously took an AMAZINGLY looking car and then let the interns have at it. Like other have been saying, I'll be trading my '16 in for the last model of the same generation; just for the tech upgrades. Hard Pass!

You put it just right. They hired the same team of wackos that did the Genesis coupe refresh a few years back and screwed it up to do the G80 and new 2020 G90. That facelift on the 80 and 90 are just plain ugly - these guys are below interns. My 16 lease is up before that new model hits the line so a 19 G80 or 90 is my target.

Lee Won-hee CEO of Hyundai Motors anncounced at the regular shareholders meeting in Seoul on the 22nd that the Genesis G80 would be getting Hyundai’s third-generation platform. He also said that they are releasing eight main volume models this year, including Sonata and Genesis.

So it it meaning that 2020 G80 will be produced on the third-generation platform with a different exterior?

Third Generation Platform is a Platform that Hyundai/Genesis created. The new Sonata is using this platform. It’s supposed to be reducing weight but having more strength in the steel they use. Also makes the Platform more agile. Let us see what they report on when they start teasing the G80.

Yes, there is a video on YouTube which shows Hyundai’s third-generation platform. It appears to be a scalable architecture and has an immense amount of improvements and innovations; such as numerous hot-stamped elements. It also has been designed to deflect during a small-overlap crash; safety first platform.

So yes, new platform with a new exterior. And it will be released this year.
