  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

SPYSHOTS: The next generation of the Genesis G80 is here

I'm pleasantly confused...

Just debut the car already!

that 3rd Gen platform looks to be FWD, not RWD or AWD. don't think it is the G80

That video just demonstrates the platform on the Sonata because it’s the first vehicle to be unveiled on. Presumably the platform is a scalable architecture which RWD, FWD, AWD, ICE, electric or hydrogen vehicles can be adapted from.

while not split in the sense of 2 independent light fixtures, it reminds me of this:

BMW also has that 2 line lighting element in certain models, but Hyundai did the split light thing years ago for the HCD-8 concept.

Has this been confirmed?

So, would be like what Ford/Lincoln is doing w/ their latest platform.

W/ scalable/adaptive platforms - in trying to incorporate multiple drive axles and powertrains, there are compromises.

Here's a video of someone who did a render on top of the spyshots (has Eng subs).

I found an article on a Korean site and the CEO of Hyundai Motors said the third generation platform would be applied to the G80. I don’t know if the platform was made for the G80 but it appears to be a global platform.

I think what the CEO meant is that it will share components with the platform so it can lose weight. The current G80 weigh a lot for its segment and they need to reduce it down a lot since now they are getting a 4 cylinder engine involved. Also to compete with its competitors.

Yes, it should have the hot-formed elements, crash safety implementations etc. All will be revealed, hopefully sooner.

I hope sooner as well.

I wonder when it would be teased if it was to be revealed at the New York Auto Show?
Most likely at the end of this week or in the coming weeks as the AutoShow is in April.

Wait, a 4cyl in the G80? Say it isn't so.

Supposedly 2.5T from what I am hearing that makes 300HP. 3.5TT will replace the 3.3TT

With EPA regulations, not a surprise. I'd think a hybrid will have to come along too.

More then likely I would say one year after the first Model gets revealed.

And no normally aspirated V6 3.8? Or V8 5.0?
My Cousin paid over 60K for a Benz E300 with a 2L 4cyl making 240HP and the thing sounds like a buzzsaw at idle. So unBenzlike. 4cyls make blown power but sound terrible and are jittery. I will take the lower MPG of a V6.
