I'd rather curb the wheels than park an inch closer to some a*****e who'll ding my door.
If you go to WalMart, park next to the cart return. There are never any carts there but they are all over the rest of the lot.I think a good tip to remember re parking is NEVER park in slot where the car on either side has dinged doors. Those people don't care about their doors or yours. I LOVE parking at Costco with their extra large parking slots.

Got to drive home using the spare for the first time.....also the first time I've had a car with a non-steel spare! Hah.

I never went to the closest supermarket where I lived as the parking lot was too tight. Where I am not the spots are wider and parking is on an angle. The store also does a good job of collecting carts.
Just dropped off my wheel at the repair shop. They said it will take longer than normal to fix it, as they want to get the color just right. Got to drive home using the spare for the first time.....also the first time I've had a car with a non-steel spare! Hah.
The PLUS is with right wheel scrapes, you don't see them if you're careful and approach the vehicle from the left. Same with dents.
Max speed is 50mph, I felt dumb driving down the freeway back home so slowly. But, the upside was I got amazing gas mileage for the ride home. Check it out...
When I dropped my wheel off on Thursday, I was told it would be ready by 4PM Friday. Before driving over to pick up the car, I called and was told it wouldn't be ready until 4PM Monday. I don't remembrer if that slid to Tuesday.

Mine still has less than 2k miles on it and like a dumb ass took it to a touchless car wash. It had one of those steel tubing ramp activators, just one on the drivers side. I took a section of old carpet I had to be careful with my wheels and put it over the top of it to protect from scratches and it still messed up my wheel, not just the front but the rear also after driving over it when the wash was finished. Then just the other day I curbed both wheels on the opposite side so now all four of my wheels match with similar damage. Close up it breaks my heart and if you're looking for it but just standing next to it it's barely noticeable. I figure even the most careful person, at some point it will happen again. Have you any thoughts about wheel guards/protectors? Not talking about the stick on strips. Something like this? PRODUCTS > ALLOYGATOR WHEEL PROTECTIONI just realized that I never updated this thread after my repair.
The repair took forever. The shop kept saying they needed more time, and ultimately it took TWO WEEKS for them to finish the damn repair. They told me they were having trouble matching the finish.
When I finally got it back the finish was perfect, but the color was ever so slightly lighter than the rest. Looking at it in person it's impossible to tell, but in pictures you can see them side by side easier so you can see the difference.. (passenger rear).
Here you can easily see it, but part of it is due to lighting, also brake dust on the fronts...

Even so, I don't care anymore. I think I paid about $140. The shop told me that there is no other color that's the same, so they had to come up with the match from scratch, hence the additional time and it being not exactly perfect. They offered to keep trying, but after two weeks I just wanted my wheel back.
I'm sure other rim repairs can be better or worse. But, that was my experience at this one particular shop for my car.
