  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just a stupid little pole for my own statistical observations.

I have to wonder what the purpose of this is for - we already know those with issues are the vocal minority, but nonetheless, I might add that it's not a universal "love or hate" type of issue. I think nearly everyone, including even the media, agrees that the suspension is on the hard side. That doesn't mean they necessarily hate it. Likewise, many find the ride acceptable but wouldn't go so far as to say they love it. There's clearly some gray area in between love and hate, where I suspect many Genesis owners reside.

Further, I don't think ANYONE has said all or even most Genesis owners experience or feel they experience an issue. There's no doubt there's a vocal minority - I suspect your aim is to prove a vocal minority. That was proven long ago, as I see it -- if it were otherwise, Hyundai would be falling all over themselves to rectify the problem.

I would agree with the first comment. The above poll seems designed to create conflict and drive a wedge between the members of this forum. How about an option for "needs some improvement"? Since HMA has made changes to the 2010 North American Genesis sedan suspension, I guess that they would fall into the "needs improvement" category (or at least "we are always striving to make improvements in our products").

Besides, these suspension surveys/polls have been done several times before on this forum, so if anyone is interested they could search for the previous results.

But I disagree with the second comment. I do think the majority of owners feel it needs improvement, but Hyundai believes that it is working as designed and therefor is not a warranty issue, even though they made improvements in 2010. A manufacturer is not obligated to retroactively go back and change products already sold if they make improvement to newer models, unless there is some sort of safety issue involved.

Agree with the above posters. "Needs improvement" would be my choice. I don't hate the suspension, but not in love with it either. Still feel that on rough roads it becomes "unsettled" and there is too much feedback through the steering wheel.

I disagree about the "Needs Improvement".

IMO everything needs improvement. That's why we try to improve on everything.
Some people may like improvements on whatever but some people my dislike them.

For me the suspension is great...but then again...for me the Lexicon 17 speaker top-of-the-line model needs improvement. Especially the BASS end of it.

Regards,

Funny thing is that there is less feedback through the steering wheel than my former Azera and I never heard a gripe about the Azera steering.

Many days, I drive through a construction zone with the raised remnants of lane markers painted over, but still in place. The Azera was a handful and wanted to dart off course on every little ridge. The Genesis (v8) tracks straight and true over that same area.

The Genesis is stiff in the rear while the Azera often tended to bob wildly in the front. On balance, I'll take the Genesis.

I find over bumps the steering wheel jolts and tugs a bit. This is the V6 so maybe the V8 is better isolated. Its not like it darts off course or anything drastic but its there. Maybe I should start playing with the tire pressures, right now I have them at 35.

So you are saying that we shouldn't have a chance to say the suspension needs improvement without saying we hate it? Why is that?

Not everything needs improvement. The suspension is one of the few things that was changed on the 2010 model, so we can assume that it needed improvement more than those things that did not change.

Mark, do you ever get tired of arguing about all things relating to the Genesis suspension? :D

I love my Genesis ride quality FWIW.

According to the rules of the forum as I understand them, personal attacks against other members like the one above are prohibited, so I will not respond directly to your rhetorical "question." If you want to discuss the pros and cons of the Genesis suspension (instead of discussing me) I would welcome such a discussion.

Geez, no sense of humor. I wasn't "attacking" you at all Mark.

EVERYTHING needs improvement.
For your first part a suspension could have an improvement EVEN if you LOVE IT!
You like the suspension or you don't like it...period!

For your 2nd part EVERYTHING needs improvement.stop contradicting everything!
With your thinking companies should make a product and never improve it? please.

If Hyundai decides to improve their suspension...it might NOT be an improvement to me!

So lets see...you posted 3 times on this poll and probably never answered "I Love it" or "I hate it".

Mark_888 you should change your name too Mark_SOC
(Spirit of Contradiction)

Sal, thanks for letting me know that there's an ignore feature...I will be using it now for the first time!
Please guide me to the right place on how to do so...thanks in advance.

Regards,

PS. jwaters943...I LOVE my suspension too!!!

You are right about one thing. There are a lot of CNN polls that are equally biased that I also don't respond to.

Here Here !!........ Now I can only laugh at every comment that Mark makes..... people like Mark who have a comeback for every little comment because they must always have the last word are of little use in civil discussion...... Mark you are the one who wants to turn people against each other by arguing every point to the death...... By the way it was OBVIOUS to me that J was not attacking you........

There needs not be a " needs improvement" category when the question is simple...... Do you love it or hate it?........ if neither applies then don't answer the question !! Stop trying to change the poll to what you want it to be...... just make up your own poll in that case.

I am 100% convinced that if the poll showed 85% hated the suspension then you would have no need for a needs improvement category...... like I said before I welcome improvements in everything... that doesn't make something necessarily bad just because it can be improved.

My Genesis is riding beautifully as expected....... firm but not harsh in any manner or form...... I have been driving it for 7 months now and if anything the suspension has gotten better at handling bumps

It is Mark who was off topic by trying to change a poll set up by a member of this forum...... The topic of this thread is a poll.... love it or hate it........ Mark wants to stray off topic and trivialize the poll for his own satisfaction..... don't chastize Jwaters and lump him in with Mark on this one....... he wasn't the one trying to disrupt this thread

35 is too high ...... it is recommended to be 33 and I keep mine at 32....... I have tried at 35 but I find that any tire that is overinflated performs differently than one that is inflated properly

Personally, as the owner of this thread, I didnt want to know if you were luke warm.

Answer me this. If you had the option to buy your exact car again...would you...or wouldn't you? I would prefer not to have a "maybe."

Its simple as that.

Some of us look waaaaaay to deep into things. Lets stay inside the box.

Basically, the way I see it....and the way I think Hyundai Corp. see's it, is that if 100 out of 20,000 have suspension issues (just random numbers)...why in the world would we (Hyundai) change it? Why spend the R&D budget to do so? I think the Media (Magazine's and Internet) have more pull than we as a consumer ever will. When shopping for my Gen. I read every available article via internet and magazine and I noticed all the riff-raff about the suspension. Did that have an impact on my decision....Yes! However, once I test drove the car I realized it wasn't half as bad as what the reviews siad. All the reviews that have belittled the suspension is what caught the eye of Hyundai hence the possibility of changes for the 2010.

So far...this poll just goes to show that most of us do not have a problem with our suspension...as I expected.

Now...if out of 20000, they received 2500 or more complaints...the yes, we as a company would look into making things right...even if it meant dipping back into some R&D budget.

Those are just my thoughts so go easy on me! :)
