  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

SPYSHOTS: The next generation of the Genesis G80 is here

I meant worldwide as in release it where ever they sell it worldwide.

But they should REVEAL them at the same time.

That wouldn’t be a good thing in the automotive industry. One model could and would attract more attention then the other model.

I just hope it's still being released in September and someone was mistaken.

I'm optimistic on the September time frame. My opinion is that these media outlets, new sites, blogs, etc. are just doing what they normally do - parrot information. This is why you may see more and more articles with the same info but not much extra substance.

Pivoting away from the talk of release dates, i wanted to hear thoughts on technology in the car, specifically the infotainment system.

Recently in the Asian markets, the G70 adopted a digital dash. It's a good step forward from the tried and trusted Hyundai software in the initial G70 and while it works beautifully, i'd like to see something elevated for the Genesis brand. Apart from the 3D feature, there is nothing special about it in terms of feature set. It doesn't integrate navigation or mapping into the display, its not nearly as customizable as the Audi Virtual Cockpit, etc. Really hoping that Genesis takes it to the next level in the infotainment technology area, rather than just catch up to its peers.

I imagine the new G80 will have less overall impact on sales than the GV80 that will be needed to make Genesis dealers profitable. Sure, would be nice to have both, but the SUV is seriously needed.

I couldn't agree more. With the declining sedan market the new gen G80 will be nice to have for the dealers, but the SUV is a must have and can't come too soon. I'm sure they realize it, but Genesis is wasting a lot of their hard earned positive press, reviews and word of mouth with the dealership situation and lack of an SUV/CUV.

I agree with the assessment of the digital gauges. It's pretty but that's it really. I believe Hyundai recently had a demonstration of an advanced HUD placed into the existing G80, but I'm not sure if that will be in production of the new one.

Also, I thought I heard months ago that the GV80 was delayed to 2020.

I think the render below, taken from The Korean Car Blog & Instagram User @saehoon.p. shows what the interior may look like. I do believe that its a close representation of the actual car, based on the spy images we have see over the last few pages.

1. Looks like the gear selector is a rotational style unit.
2. Above it, we have what may be the infotainment controls.
3. I'm assuming those circle "screens" in the above the center console may be HVAC readouts, similar to what you may see in the Range Rover Velar. I really hope they leave some manual controls for the HVAC and Audio system. I feel that the commonly used controls should be manual.
4. The Nav/Infotainment screen looks to be a single, widescreen, longer unit - not something we've seen in current Hyundai/genesis cars including the new G90. The height of the screen may be larger based on what i've gathered from the spy shots.
5. The graphics on the cluster looks like that of the G70 3D Cluster, they offer in the Asian markets. As i said in my previous post, i really hope they don't incorporate the same 3D Cluster here but go with a new "Genesis" integrated system with maps, phone connectivity, etc.
6. Door panels match what we've seen in the interior spy shots do date.

Overall it looks very minimal compared to the current G80.

In that 3rd from last picture, is there chrome trim at the very bottom of the side profile? It's also in the current G80, but it's not flush with the very bottom and the wheel edges like in these pictures. I can't tell if it's a different chrome color than the window trim or if that's just the shading.

New images for the interior. Looks amazing they also replaced the old gear switch with different one...

They are changing the way the buttons are laid out on the steering wheel. They were perfect before well within reach, now it looks like I need to stretch my thumbs to press the ones higher up.. I'm not a fan. (Edited - I flipped the image so the steering wheel is in the proper orientation).

Dang those are some nice interior pictures. Thanks, Abdullah, for providing those!

- The design looks super clean. I like the look of the twist shifter and infotainment wheel. I feel like the two should be switched around though. The infotainment wheel would be used a lot more often than the gear shifter, so it's better for that to be closer to the armrest.

- I'm not a fan of the 4 spoke steering wheel design, but the materials of the buttons look great. The wiper and turn stalks seem to have a different material on the end of them, so it seems Genesis foresaw people complaining about those being Hyundai parts lol. The buttons in the car in general are all great.

- The HVAC controls seem to have a display on the wheels for the temperature/air speed. I like that, since it won't lag with infotainment start-up.

- Piano black in the center console area though :(.

- The gauge cluster seems to be at the very least partially physical. It may be physical bezels on top of a digital screen though, and a full digital cluster can still be an option not on this car.

- Still wish the door design was less plain. I was hoping the pictures from before had a prototype design, but it seems to be the actual design. Maybe a higher trim will have stitching or something like the G70.

I'm amazed how more premium it looks compared to the current G80, they stepped it up considerably. The gear selector looks glass or crystal and there's so much metal—I presume genuine—accents. The leather—whether genuine—is abundant. There's attention to detail, such as the signal and wiper stalks. I'm unsure if the doors, or even other components are finalised. It's possible it isn't because then all would be leaked before the reveal. It's also difficult to interpret due to different trims offering enhancements.

I can only imagine it's still being revealed in September, because I can't see them testing the vehicle from now and then another ten months. Especially considering it's been spied since last year August. I'm most excited to see the technical information, features, rim options etc. So far Genesis has raised the bar.

In this image posted by Abdullah0637 above, you can see an airbag tag on the chair. I wonder why it’s there? My first thought would be it’s a prototype passenger seat in the drivers. If they wanted to change the seat settings it could be accessible in the infotainment. However, I wonder if this is a new airbag? I know one of the U.S vehicles, an SUV had a middle airbag in that position. It prevents the front occupants from colliding in a side impact.

Yeah G80 would be released in September then the GV80 in November.

For whether the facelifted G90 will come to US market, the CEO seems to avoid answering the question directly. Does this mean something to the G90's fate in US?

GTspirit: Let’s talk about product. The new G90 is out in Korea already. Is it coming to the US? And what about the next G80?

Fitzgerald: The G90 is a tremendous success in the domestic market and we already had to adjust the production volumes. The brand is on a roll. And we will have a brand-new G80 coming out this September in Korea and subsequently on global markets. With that car, you will see the next evolution of our design language.

What is that color on the mule? It looks like a rose gold.

I wouldn't put it past Hyundai to release more details, all be it minor, the closer we get to launch. It wouldn't surprise me if this was the actual interior (based on what we can see). I like the fact that we are getting more bright work and am a huge fan of the door handles.

I'm betting the G90 options will be pared back, similar to the K900. One engine option (3.5TT) with AWD.

So exciting!
