  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tinting taillights

^Looking good!! I'm interested to see how the grill looks when you do the border.

Update. Removed the Lamin-X, went to the shop that tinted my windows and had them tint my taillights.

It's darker than I wanted them (it was either this, or something much lighter than even the mild tint Lamin X). Even so, my wife really likes them this dark, so I guess they'll stay.

Before (Lamin X)...

What do you think? Too dark?
Yep, IMO too dark.

I’m holding off on the grill border for now. Feel like it is going to be a hassle to get done

Looks like you'll either have a lot of waste or discontinuity (aka need multiple pieces) when you do it, but damn will she look good

Waste will probably be what happens. Don’t think it would look good with multiple pieces but we will see I suppose

Maybe wrap it first then? Then you can use the waste on smaller trim pieces or mirror caps or something

any long term results on the tailights? I saw one start to peel anyone else have better success.

So far so good, they're still holding up well. I did notice a couple *tiny* creases start to form in the same area I was having trouble with before, but they haven't gotten any bigger in the past month or so. I don't notice them unless I'm looking very closely, so I'm okay with it.

I'll have to take a picture of them to show what I'm talking about.

Mine were tinted from the dealership and love it. I just upgraded to Led bulbs and it’s plenty bright

Nice!

For me that level of tint was too dark, so I went with lighter tint. But, every one is different!

Now, I want to get my badges smoked a bit too

Me too. I'm thinking of doing some clear smoke plasti-dip, then adding some glossifier. Hopefully it will make it look like the rest of the dark chrome.

I did about 8 light spray of the clear smoke and it turned out great, I didn't gloss it but made sure to peel off the center logo bit of the badge.

Looks pretty cool. Unfortunately here in the "Live Free or Die" state of NH, that wouldn't pass inspection.

Haha, i love the irony of that.

I also love that slogan, or whatever you want to call it. It's so metal. "Live free or DIIIIEEEE!!!"
