If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Loaners...This looks bad

Did you call the dealer or book it online? Hyundai and Genesis both suck balls with their online appointment scheduling as it's almost never synced with their actual service scheduling database. I find calling the dealer directly is the only fool-proof method, and I've had mine scheduled without any delays for 2 different services at different dealers.

I do wish that a stand-alone Genesis dealer opens up here this year.
I dont even care about the dumb valet service because I dont want anyone driving my car. I just want a loaner vehicle which is also fake. My local dealerships laugh at that and even had one smart ass ask me if I thought I owned a Mercedes. Of course I read the canned Genesis ad linked to their own dealer website and he replied with, oh, yeah, we have to display that bit we dont offer loaners, but would be happy to let me wait in the waiting room...

Genesis corporate told me they are frustrated but unfortunately they have no control over the dealerships. They so told me that they dont foresee any stand alone dealerships in the next few years due to ongoing legal battles. But, they sent me a $50 gift card for my troubles. Lol, untold them to keep it and shove it.

Love the car, but the service is worse than any car I've ever owned including every day chevys, fords, and FCA vehicles.

So who is this crappy dealer? He should be called out on it though you may have already mentioned it. He should also be dropped by Genesis but there may be legal implications there.

Were two equally as bad. I only have these two within 50 miles of me. I posted both in the bad dealership thread.

Yes at least name them so others have the opportunity to avoid them. You can make it easier here and post the names here also.

Genesis of Bel Air and Genesis of Towson (Maryland). The latter curbed my stock wheel, covered up with black touchup paint, then accused me of doing it myself and trying to defraud them. Lol I filed claims with corporate but like I said, they told me they are getting inundated with customer complaints from all over the US but cant really do anything about it.

OK, now I recall you mentioning that. Shame, the good dealers get the same poor reputation. I've never been refused a loaner.

I heard Burns in NJ is close to getting a stand-alone dealership in their new building being that they are a high volume Genesis dealer but did not know that ongoing legal battles would delay them further! That truly sucks.

If I were you, I'd just skip the free maintenance and get it done at your local indy mechanic. Not worth the hassle for a couple bucks. Dealers here in PA seem better than what you are going through, and Burns was highly regarded by many on this forum although I didn't like them. Come over to PA or NJ if you want to do any major warranty work lol.

I have an appointment at Bel Air tomorrow for oil change, I will update afterwards giving everyone heads up about the dealer after. I'm am waiting at the dealership....

The legal battles vary by state. Hopefully your will be ok and with the GV90 the volume will increase too.

I purchased my 2nd Gen Genesis from a dealer in NY. I traveled over 30 miles and bridge toll to get there to 1st test drive and then return to purchase..Very Bad Experience (New Rochelle Hyundai / Genesis)...Anyway, I contacted Genesis Corporate and they were 1st very disappointed with my situation and they then referred me to a dealer much closer to my home on LI NY (South Shore Hyundai in Valley Stream, LI NY). They called ahead to alert them of my dilemma and they welcomed me with open arms. I had several issues of concern serviced and they even took care of a re-call issue with the car which was serviced incorrectly. Regarding service quality, I would give them very high marks...The only annoyance I have is with their loaner policies. When you purchase a signature line product of a parent brand it should automatically qualify you for premier level of service (or at least I would have thought so...) I had an issue where I had to drop the car off for service which they needed to keep it for the full day. A loaner would have come in handy instead of me waiting for a neighbor to pick me up so I could get home. The 2nd time I was there for service I was in need to get back home to use my other vehicle to go to work (5 miles) and they told me I lived too far to give me a ride home and could not assist me. But they offered to call a taxi for me! 🤔 I called corporate and told me that the loaner program is dealer optional and not something they enforced.

I think there is a 25 mile rule but corporate told me that they are not enforcing that right now because so few places are doing the loaners....

He shouldn't have needed a drop off, or a taxi - they should have put him in a Genesis loaner, just like they tell everyone they will do IF you buy a new Genesis!

It’s 50 miles. But with some leeway as you mentioned.

Interesting thing is my Dad has a 2nd Gen and purchased his car from a dealer in Winston-Salem, NC. I remember him telling me they gave him a loaner there since the distance was around 20 miles each way. They moved to Richmond, VA a year or so ago and he had taken the car in for service and they gave him a loaner as well. He seems very happy with the level of service he receives.

The fine print, it seems, lets them off the hook. From the Genesis web site:
You may never set foot in our service center. With complimentary Genesis Service Valet* for 3 years or 36,000 miles, we’ll perform a remote diagnostic check, pick up your vehicle, send a courtesy replacement and return your Genesis when it’s ready.
Then the barely visible asterisk shows this:
Genesis Service Valet is available for original purchaser of the vehicle from Authorized Genesis Retailers during the scheduled maintenance period which includes scheduled maintenance and normal wear, parts replacement or warranty repairs to your vehicle for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage area varies by retailer. Charges and fees may apply. Contact your Authorized Genesis Retail Service Advocate for details.

I guess the coverage area for your dealer is no area. Genesis really has to get on the ball with that and push the dealers. For many buyers it is a nice feature and one of the reasons to buy.

The reasoning is likely because he's driving a Hyundai Genesis, not a true Genesis Gxx. From that standpoint, I understand why they might not give him a loaner. Technically it falls under the lesser brand

Nah, I just do the maintenance myself like I've always done on my cars. Want something done right, do it yourself. I just thought that it would be nice for a change to have someone else do it for free, but that is a big flop.

Loaners is just part of it... they also used sub standard oil that doesnt meet the Genesis spec. I called dealerships as far away as 100 miles and none of them use oil that meets or exceeds the spec. It's fine, I like changing my own oil. I have Race Ramps which make it super easy.

I understand. But that is not the case. Not sure it even should be although I can see you would want it to be. It’s not like they made those promises to you and you did or pay the increased prices that later buyers paid.
