  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

SPYSHOTS: The next generation of the Genesis G80 is here

I say I don't like how a car looks and you proceed to call me "childish" and an "a*****e". You really think you're in the right here?

I've been browsing forums for decades. Your seniority here on this particular board means nothing to me when this is the type of behavior you show off.

^ Hmmm...thx again. You’re out doing yourself.
You didn’t say you didn’t like it (which would have been fine). Step back and reread your posts. Nuff said.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Yes, I said it looked "awful compared to (the G80)". If you interpreted that as a personal insult to you like you're throwing at me, you need to take a step back and understand communication better, lest you start punching someone IRL for calling your favorite sports team negative words.

Tell me what names I've called you?

You've already thrown "childish" and "a*****e" at my way- score right now is 2-0 in your favor.

^ I’ll take your quote and use it as my opinion of you...

“Sorry bud, my opinions are here to stay. You don't like them? Too bad.”

Ah, so my opinion of a car is now equal to the insults you throw at me. Brilliant logic. Since you reiterated yourself, guess that makes the score 4-0.

Still waiting for you to tell me what names I called you to provoke your personal attacks, what with your "kettle black" remark.

Dude, get over yourself. You're on a forum about cars. You don't have the right to personally insult anyone for saying a car is ugly.

Well that was entertaining to read in the early morning. Look this is how I see it. Both the G80 and A7 are beautiful in there own ways. If you don’t like A7 that’s technically your opinion. The G80 yes is RWD but you do realized that some automakers have FWD based vehicles that give you RWD proportions. At the end of the day we are here to celebrate the G80 finallyyyyy getting a tease and reveal. No need to be putting two cars up against each other as of yet. That will be saved for real life reviews.

I literally already mentioned that on the previous page concerning Volvo and Mazda. Audi has not accomplished this, and so the front overhang of their vehicles is still massive and notable.

No need to be putting two cars up against each other as of yet.
People are going to compare these two vehicles' looks, and there's no avoiding that since they're both stylistically very similar. Not everyone is going to have a positive opinion of either of them. If you don't want to hear people say negative things about the A7, go to an Audi forum.

A RWD platform is always going to be better than FWD... if you're a car enthusiast, period :). And less overhangs are also always better by any standard, independent of styling. You can have an ugly car with short overhangs, and a beautiful one with long overhangs, but the latter would be even better with short overhangs :). Oh, and I also want to point out another big benefit of G80s for me: Front double wishbone suspension. It's rare to find it nowadays (struts are cheaper), but it's much better dynamically IMO. And much easier to service too, like in case shock replacement. Kudos to Hyundai for that.

Finally, the new model just doesn't do it for me. The front is nicer, but that's about it. The interior was my biggest disappointment. The flat Tesla-like dash, with an eye-sore of a huge elongated iPad stuck on top looks awful to me. I also don't like the lack of a shift lever, even if it's electronic now. The current one looks much better integrated IMO. Kind of old school, but I'm 58. Ha ha. The exterior is also elegant while sporty, at least on the sport model. It has issues for me, like the lack of independent setting adjustments (suspension, tranny mode, etc), but I'm almost sure the new one lacks them too. It just looks like an old man's car now, especially with that awful looking steering wheel, but to each his own. It's impossible to please everybody :D.

Well I’m an automotive enthusiast. If it’s FWD it’s still good, if it’s RWD it’s still good. Each have there own perks at doing what each configuration can do. You can still have lots of fun in FWD cars. Let’s not forget the company that gave us what Genesis is today started out as FWD and still for the most part FWD to this day so take that into consideration.

You can only have fun in FWD cars if they're compact and configured like the Civic Type R or Subaru WRX. Their size allows them to avoid the excessive understeer of of FWD vehicles. Other than that, RWD vehicles will have superior driving dynamics (and looks) 90% of the time.

Also, there hasn't been a single Genesis product that was FWD or FWD-based, even back when it was still under the Hyundai badge. That's a terrible excuse. Most volume sellers are FWD because it's cheaper to make and most people don't really care for driving dynamics.

I agree that the front overhang of the A7 is prominent, but to my eye it's still a great looking car whose styling has held up very well over the years. Audi has tweaked it just enough to keep it fresh. The new G80 appears have executed the look very well also with it's own distinctive looks. This should serve it well even in the face of the GV80 and the rest of the luxury SUV's on the market.

Let's just hope the dealerships provide a decent experience for potential new Genesis buyers when they come in to shop the G80.

The A7 gained its reputation because the sleek back was so wonderfully executed, especially compared to the travesty that was the 1st-gen Panamera at the time. But the front of the A7 was nothing to write home about, being virtually identical to an A6. Now that mainstream auto manufactuers are all moving to that sportback look (Hyundai with their new Sonata, Kia with their new Optima, Honda with their Accord, etc), the A7 is still a relevant design.

However, my favorite execution of that swooped back remains the Jaguar XJ, which preceded the A7 by about a year or so.

After driving a Foxbody 5.0L and two MR2 Turbos, I bought a YF Turbo Sonata in 2011... It was my first and last FWD car... lol... nothing wrong with it, the handling is not to my taste. At the time, I've been driving RWD cars my whole life other than when I'm taking my parents car.
