  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Because of this Corona Virus, the best way to kill time and enjoy outdoor time, was to treat my 2015 5.0 to an 8 hour detail. Looks better than new!!

Good question, as you probably know black is a difficult color to get perfect. This is what I did:
Washed car
Applied a wax stripper
Sprayed on on iron remover
Clayed the whole car so the paint was clear of any containment's or product.
Pads used were:
Meguiars Microfiber cutting disk - for paint correction (Make sure you keep them clean and use a pad conditioner)
Yellow one step polishing pad
Product:
Griot's Fast Correcting Cream
Turtle Wax Hybrid solutions ceramic polish and wax - love this product (Low dusting and good work time, easy to use with great results)
I used a Porter Cable 7424XP Dual action polisher
After about 12-24 hours you can top with a good carnuba wax for a warmer shine.

Paint was about 97% swirl free as I didn't want to go to aggressive. To the eye it looks perfect and the hydrophobic effect is excellent. Once the wax wears off the ceramic polish holds up for at least 3 months in the Hot South FL sun (not garaged) I'll just throw a topper on once a week or a spray wax to keep the gloss up.

although 2018 5.0, here's mine
After driving new car home from CA...Clay bar, Meguiars 105, Mezerna Polish, Wolfgang Swirl Remover, Ardex Nano Sealant, Ardex Miami Carnuba - all lake country pads per product.

That's how you do it!! Looks great.....Ardex is in my backyard, more of professional detailer product. How do u like the Nano Sealant?

I like it, a little goes a long way. It's only been a few months on the G80 but on my wifes GLK350, Palladium Silver, both products are outstanding! I put the sealant on with a pad but low speed similar to hand wax, little bit more speed on the carnuba application.

And this is both products on a very coveted 1993 MasterCraft 190 Limited 25th Anniversary addition, #17 of 25 produced.

Great job.....black is tough to get perfect. I have to deduct 1 point though because I see a mark on your right front bumper (close up) :grinlaugh:
But seriously very nice, you used some good product as well, I used to use that on my Genesis.

lol, yes it's difficult to maintain a black car but I absolutely love it. The front bumper suffers from a few rock chips but what you see in the pictures is just a reflection of the ground.

just bought mine yesterday, and I absolutely adore this car.
Congrats!! After driving 2 Audi A6's, I never thought I would drive a Genesis. Best decision I ever made. I have the 5.0 and the savings on the repairs alone was worth it. I have 50K on mine and all I have ever done was change the oil ( non synthetic) $30 vs $120, front brake pads - $200 vs $500, change turn signal bulb, grease the sunroof and replace the tires. They even replaced a door panel because the vinyl chipped off a little for free. Not to mention that it has way more options than the Audi and is more comfortable.
Best value it there for a large luxury sedan. I'm actually looking at a BMW Alpina as my next car and compare that to a new Genesis.

Recently purchased 2015 5.0 Ultimate CPO . Magnaflow X-Pipe , Magnaflow mufflers , K&N Filters . Love this car . Coming out of a 6.4 Challenger Scat Pack lease . Two different animals but I'm impressed with the power of the 5.0 . Unfortunately not a lot of HP mods available but the sound system and ride distracts me enough lol . The 5.0 would give my scat pack a good run 0-60.20200412_193933 (2).jpg20200412_184255.jpg20200412_184631.jpg20200413_003122.jpg

When I bought my 5.0 it was between that and a Scat Pack. I raced one from 55mph to 140mph and stayed right with him. Very happy with the Genesis. The only problem is the 1-2 second lag when you push it to the floor. I guess they did that to save the tires. I've read if you get software like "pedal commander" it eliminates that which makes the car faster. It has different settings to door suit your driving habits.
