  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone interested in meeting, please post dates and times you're available. I believe we're looking at either a Saturday or Sunday a couple of weeks from now - at a Hyundai VIP event. Anyone with more information on this event is encouraged to reply here.

The event is at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, on US1 by the Broward/Dade border.

Re: Genesis Owners Meet In Miami

Any more information on location? Anything you have would be appreciated..

Re: Genesis Owners Meet In Miami

Thanks, guys. I just copied the latest information into the first post. Let's see if we can get a group of us down there...

Re: Genesis Owners Meet In Miami

There are no time slots available at all.. And unfortunately, I did not register.. Any ideas?

I heard that at other events around the country people just showed up without a reservation and were accommodated. Others with reservations had to wait in line for a half an hour even with a reservation. In other words it didn't matter whether you had a reservation or not you had to wait in the same line for a half an hour.

P.S. I got an email from them suggesting that I call 800-575-1303 between 10AM and 6PM CST ( I guess that's 9-5 eastern time) to make sure the event is not cancelled due to weather.

Oops, that's 11AM-7PM.

I registered a guest for 1:30 Sat. Guess that would be YOU. :D
Thank you! I'm setting to be there at 1pm. I'm bringing my wife along - so hopefully we'll both be accommodated. If it's true that they're just letting everyone through, that would be great. Worst case scenario, I'll just let her take the test drive.

Any specific place we should meet? I'll PM you guys with my contact information. Maybe you could IM me with updates or something. :p

Are you going?

Are you going?

I should be there. I have a reservation for 1PM. I hope to be a little early. I am going to phone before leaving in case it is cancelled due to weather.

I think we should be able to find each other since we will be driving Genesis'. Mine is black/black.

Okay. I'm going to aim for 1pm - but if I can get there earlier, I will..

See you all there!

It was very nice to meet you guys!

The "event" was a little disappointing, however.. It was HOT as hell! I drank a little too much coffee and I probably would have avoided that had I known there was no air conditioning. Inside, there was only ONE Genesis.. Everyone was crowded around the ONE Genesis to check it out. There was very little time to get familiar with the car without feeling you were hogging it up all to yourself.

The test drive was nice, however.. I drove a Mercedes E550 as well as a V8 Genesis. I know the Mercedes is faster - but it didn't feel that way. The Genesis is geared in such a way that it feels stronger with normal driving. I'm guessing if you put the pedal to the metal, it'll be a different story.

In any event, I REALLY did like the Genesis.. It's quite an impressive car...

It was nice to see you and the other Genesis enthusiasts as well...

I drank a little too much coffee and I probably would have avoided that had I known there was no air conditioning.

Word to the wise... stick to water and go easy on the Tau energy drink!! First time I every had such a beverage. An exhilarating rush followed by a severe energy crash.

Ditto! And I hear ya on the energy drinks. I used to drink one called "Full Throttle"! It was fun at first - but you do feel the drop-off in energy afterwards...

DITTO! I think we all had a pleasant time, despite the heat. Interesting that 3 of the 4 cars that have had DIS memory erased were there! Still working that issue.

As for the test drive, rather ho hum, IMHO. "Hired Guns" to do the demo were "car knowledgeable" but not necessarily "Genesis Knowledgeable." Not a Hyundai rep in sight, and ZERO sales effort. Instead of pointing out unique features and contrasting the Genesis with other cars, our "host driver" commented he had been doing test rides for a Japanese manufacturer last week. The test drive "proved" that claimed features worked...Traction control, anti-lock brakes, etc. I chose to drive the Genesis V8, so as to compare to my V6. Even though the track was limited, I could detect NO difference in these cars. When the V8 is finally in stock at dealers, I would be very surprised if many people opt for the V8 vs. the V6 after a side-by-side test drive. The only reason I can see to wait for a V8 is if you have a need to install a towing package and haul your boat or U-haul. If that's the case, save your money, buy a truck. :)

As to the other differences, the leather was smooth [different], but I don't believe you could tell unless side-by-side or someone told you. The chrome door strip is easy aftermarket in the V6. The steering wheel, at least in HOT markets, is another liability of the V8. It has wood in the 10-2 position, which is perceived as a luxury upgrade. In FL sun, it gets smokin' hot, and is slippery with perspiration on it. The full leather wheel in the V6, is a treated leather that does NOT get warm, let alone hot. You can "fry an egg" on the black dash, but the wheel remains very nice to the touch and maintains a very positive grip in all quadrants.

Yes, great to meet you guys and see your cars and see the faces behind the posts. I drove the V8 Genesis and the Mercedes. The woman asked me what kind of car I had and I told her the V6 Genesis. She said, "Well I guess I don't need to show you anything." I told her I was having a problem getting the navigation system to recognize my voice on the way to track so I tested the one in the car and it worked fine. She said ,"Oh I didn't know it could do that. I thought it was just for the phone." On the way home I discovered that the problem with mine was that the voulme had been turned down.

At any rate the event was ok but great to meet you guys.

I could certainly tell the extra horses when I punched that accelerator! The straightaway was not long enough for me to get up to 60 MPH though... Then again I am too old to drive that way anymore. Plus I just traded in my truck!
