  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2017/2018 radio swap in 2016 ultimate?

Have to use the original amp with original head unit. In order to use the aftermarket amp with the newer head unit, you'd have to have a MOST bus converter to take the optical audio signal and make it something an amp can use. There are currently no MOST DSPs made compatible with Genesis though.
So there’s no way with an aftermarket amp?

I see. They said something about optic fiber too. Thanks for your help, I’ll probably switch back to stock then.

I have ordered the HK CARPLAY 10w adapter to add Android Auto to my stock headunit. I cancelled my SiriusXM and traffic data subscription which mostly offset the cost of the adapter kit... having Waze and Spotify should more than make up for it though.

That $62 shipping gets it here by Monday...so no boats for me.

Came with no instructions
The one i found online was wrong and didnt have all the connections, had to email them to change it, which they did i was able to figure it out myself with google before hand

Must touch the touch screen for about 15 seconds to adjust the touch screen before doing anything, more info in next paragraph.

Im sure you know its a overlay system that just hijacks the screen but u must make sure you have the aux plugged in and you select it before you turn on the system with long pressing the call end button on the wheel

Touch is the only thing that works, no jog dial, both volume knobs work and can only see the volume number through the heads up display, does not show navi through the h.u.d only volume, also doesnt show any climate postions or fan speed uptop like normal

Overpriced imo to just have an overlay system with barley any apps or functionality with jog dial ect., a rooted/jailbroken phone would benefit the most to get the ability to watch vids while driving...if it works who knows havent gotten to that stage yet

Yeah, the price seemed a little steep for what it did. But hijacking the screen seems to be the only way to do it without changing H/U & amp.

I'll have to get the system in to test for sure, but my Android will let me split audio routing between AA and Bluetooth. And the car controls will handle media via Bluetooth while the AA handles app display.

Instructions must be too challenging to include 😆

Easyer to have it in the glove box yeah instructions what instructions
On the plus side I figured out how to only need to calibrate one time 🤣

It's less bad once I figured out the wholly unexplained wiring functionality

That was actually not as painful as it felt. Buttoned up nicely, all of it is mounted in the dash.

Only gaffe I made was missing out on the very obvious CAN wire colors. Unlike what I suggested a few posts back, they really DO connect to the multimedia CAN wires... that so happen to be matching red and blue. 🤔

Might be a stupid question - I was wondering, what purpose does plugging in the AUX cable serve?

It's how audio gets from the phone to the radio. In Carplay and AA, the phones disable any other audio output or input (hence the mic and aux cable)

I slipped my cables out of the center bezel.

The backup camera works normally

Ah, I see.. So there was sufficient room in the dash to stash the hardware boxes, as opposed to how the K900 guy did it by putting them in the glovebox?

Yes, both modules can be velcro tied inside the dash on the right side (above the glove box). Keeps the clutter to a minimum.

Cool. No other problems other than the fact there's not any real instructions to speak of? The K900 guy mentioned a cable that didn't have the correct bend on one of the ends.

I got the LVDS extension module... but my car is full fledged Korean and has the connector angled the other direction. So it wasn't needed.

No real issues so far. Definitely need to change the KPLAY module power source to switched instead on constant, it sometimes gets confused by my phone and hangs. The only reset is a power cycle... so need to connect power to red instead of yellow.
