  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2017/2018 radio swap in 2016 ultimate?

Probably needs to be variant coded to your car.
That video is old - That's actually what happens when you install a newer radio into a 2015-2016. Audio doesn't work because they actually changed the amp in the later cars as well.

Actually, the old head unit will accept the later software - but it still searches for the "new" amp. I think there's a way to do a software hack to allow the old amp to work. Unfortunately, no one has figured it out yet

Oh ok. But I work for genesis/ Hyundai and you can variant code the radio too what amp. But I’m not sure of the options because I haven’t done it.

I used these on interface:
1 off
2 off
3 off
4 off
5 off
6 off
7 off
8 on
9 off
10 off

On kplay 1 and 2 are off
Thats wrong, number 3 needs to be for backup cam on the rest are correct

GDS can only code the head unit to the specific amp options that were available for that particular year's headunit and amp combo. Hence why HMA doesn't support mixing parts for different vehicle years, the software isn't flexible enough to permit their use.

In this case, the 2018 radio uses a different communication protocol to power on the rear amp, which only that particular amp has firmware support for. Can't use older year amps because they don't speak Greek.

Mine was running good but I'm having carplay connectivity issues. Sometimes it just won't connect. Bluetooth connection is fine though.

edit: Reset everything now it auto connects really quickly. iPhone seems to remember last used bluetooth connection so while having carplay running I answer calls through the regular bluetooth. Everything works great now. Just need to tidy up the glovebox.

I heard that they work fine - but that connection is not wireless for some reason.

Mine still worked great after sitting at a dealership for 2 months. I'm still waiting on my AAWireless adapter to ship though, so it will hopefully be fully wireless after they finally put my new engine in.
I saw the indegogo. Def let us know how it works out.

New engine?

New engine?
Old engine lost oil pressure and died right in front of the tech who was explaining he couldn't find anything wrong with it on a test drive.

I shouldn't call it a "new" engine though, Hyundai couldn't locate any new-stock 15-17 5.0's. So they sourced a low mileage used one.

Wow!

So I’ve had the car back about 2 weeks now and Car4play has been flawless with AA. Especially after I figured out how to get Waze to follow night/day automatically with the Dark mode scheduling.

What was the cause of the engine failure?

While the dealership didn't tear down the old engine, I suspect the cam bearings failed in the driver's side head. Made a hell of a thwocking noise while idling.

Head unit swap + amp swap + running slightly new cabling from head unit to amp.

Can't update the head unit yet, but can get an add in module that works pretty well. Just wire it up to switch on/off with phone button on wheel.
