  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

You’re reading the wrong reviews the wrong way. I agree that the most important factors are subjective, but many are impossible to discern or even explore in a test drive.

Stop with the C/D reference. It's one example. I don't care if they are on all the manufacturers payroll. It's about gaining knowledge from people who have experience. Yes some of these You Tubers make more money than they should because we turned our world over to 5 big tech companies and now look where we are. Like anything in life there are some people who are good at what they do and some are terrible... This would be an example of terrible. At least after watching this tool bag you would know what the turn indicator sounds like.

Why do you believe the C/D (or insert your preference here) writers have any more experience than the popular YouTube. The fact that you chose a youtube video where the poster has 60 subscribers vs videos where the poster has 500k or 1.5 million subs says it all. You are not objective. There are plenty more than 5 big tech companies. Previously there were 5 big auto mag companies. They controlled all the info. Why you are pissed off at folks making a living on youtube with MORE subs and viewers than the print press is puzzling. They are able to be more objective because they are not bought and paid for.

Which part are you having trouble with? Who? Steve Sutcliffe, Pete Stout, Chris Harris, Henry Catchpool, etc. If you can’t tell the difference…

None of those are "important factors"....try again tubby.

I assumed you were reacting to the “reading the wrong reviews” point because the “it’s impossible to figure out the most important subjective bits in a test drive” seems too obvious. Apparently not…

I’d suggest a thought experiment: try test driving a BMW 1M and a BMW135i with a tune back to back. 98% of the parts are the same… You’re going to explore the subjective differences between the two cars how?

Road and Track...

Apparently these were all filmed a month ago. Makes you wonder why the embargo lasted so long.

Well it's about time. As the C/D review says.... "late to the party" and they didn't just mean Genesis building the car.

Well he clearly didn't want to like it but had to come around a bit. Interesting he thinks the ride is as firm as the GLC AMG. That's not what the others have said about the ride on that thing.

He probably had the seat cushion overinflated because of Sport/+ mode default.

I think a lot of reviewers missed the fact that you can adjust the bottom seat cushion firmness.

Many of his critiques were down to personal preference- he doesn't like the styling and wishes the seat were an inch or two lower, but many (my wife included) would simply disagree on both points. He noted some more objective points as well ie the tire and wind noise, which I feel is fair vs the Germans at higher speeds.

As for ride quality there are many different aspects to that and people tend to focus on different things. He's noting a bit of "impact harshness", possibly a result of less isolated suspension subframes or wheel harmonics (lack of damping) after an upset. I feel a bit of the same thing, but I don't equate it with a "firm ride" and stiffer suspension as he seems to, rather damper tuning and bit less NVH isolation in that particular frequency range than best in class.
