If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am coming from a Lexus GS350 which had a lot of rattles that had to be fixed at the dealership. I am very leery of rattles now, and since I am thinking of purchasing a Genesis, I am wondering how it fares in this area. Any Genesis experience and annoying rattles in their car?

NO RATTLES AS OF YET! My Iphone case tends to rub the seat while driving and it drives me nuts...so I always remove my phone when getting in the car.

Other than that, nothing.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but aside from a very minor buzz in my door map pockets that disappeared all by itself well over a year ago and a tiny bit of flex or creaking in the headliner when negotiating angled surfaces my Genesis is largely rattle free after nearly 2 years of ownership. In this regard it's MUCH better than my 2006 GS430 which had an intermittent loud pop for the roof and several small buzzes/creaks/rattles. In fact, the Gen is probably the best car I've ever owned in this regard....and trust me, rattles are a big pet peeve of mine.

Given how bad our roads have become in my area I'm honestly surprised I don't have more rattles. I have noticed that the car is more prone to make little noises from the dash/doors when it's cold out. In the summer months these noises all but seem to disappear.

2010 v6 rattle free @ 6000 MI. All things are as tight and as sound as the day I picked it up.

My 2010 3.8 is rattle free. I had an Azera for the previous 4 years and it also developed no rattles.

I also have a 2010 3.8 with about 5000 miles. I do a lot of daily driving over bumpy and uneven road surfaces and am happy to report that so far at least it is rattle-free.

I read on the Lexus owners forum about this problem on the current generation GS. It really surprised me because I have a 15 year old Lexus that is built like a tank. I test drove the GS350 and it was silky smooth, but I really didn't like the back end of the car, the rear roofline really cut into backseat headroom, and the Genesis was much more open feel.
Mine has been rattlefree, but I did have a tiny squeak from the seatbelt receiver rubbing against some hard plastic. They put some foam tape in between and it worked.

My previous car was a 99 Lexus GS300 - Silky smooth, rattle-free, Flawless car. That is why I bought the 2007 GS350 - Not so with this one. And it is a smaller car too. In fact the 2010 Genesis reminds me a lot of my 99 GS300!

I have a 95 LS, that has been largely trouble free. Someone told me that in 1995 they made 5 models. Now they make so many, apparently they can't keep track of what's going on with them. The pricing which was once at a considerable discount to German cars has mostly evaporated. Declining quality and over pricing is not a good combination. In this business if you get complacent you get marginalized, quickly.

10,092 miles and not a rattle.

The tires, initially quiet, are starting to get noisier as mileage increases.

No rattles over here, either. 13,000 miles.

I'll hit 40K this week and mine is starting to develop some rattles. Here's a breakdown:

1. The compartments in the front doors seem to rattle sometime, especially on certain road surfaces. If I flip them "open" they seem to quiet down. I'm thinking some felt or rubber in the right place might help this problem.

2. Both of my front speakers rattled somewhat from the day the car was purchased. The dealer did something that seemed to fix it for about 15-20K miles, but the one on the passenger side has come back.

3. Around 30K miles my dash started rattling occasionally. It's not very loud, but, on certain road surfaces it's very annoying. This rattle seems to be affected by temperature as it seems to almost go away when the temp is above 80.

4. Also around 30K miles I started noticing a very annoying rattle that appeared to be coming from the headliner but a friend eventually tracked to the little Bluetooth module actually rattling around (non-tech package). The dealer actually adjusted this and so far no problem. I could have probably taken care of this myself but I asked them to look at it when I was in for an oil change and they just took care of it.

I do, perhaps, have some extenuating circumstances. I live on a dirt road and thus get some pretty good bouncing every day before I hit pavement. Overall the car is actually still very, very quiet. I noticed that the rattles seemed to reduce significantly with new tires. I wonder if the worn Dunlops were transferring more vibration to the frame than the new tires.

The only rattle I get is the rare one from the rear sunshade when hitting a bump. I did see one other person mention this happening with his and getting it replaced. I haven't heard it in a while so I haven't pursued it.

I have an '09 V6 P+, have somewhat over 36K miles on it, and have zero rattles...annoying or otherwise!

Huh?
Just what is the definition of r-a-t-t-l-e-s?

2010 4.6L now reads 2,100 miles. I have no idea what r-a-t-t-l-e-s are whenever I am in the Genny. The car is rock solid.

The Genesis sedan has been highly engineered to have a state of the art and very stiff frame (30% stiffer than a MB E Class) using high tech adhesives (in addition to advanced welding techniques). I have never experienced any rattle or noises (other than from the drivetrain) whatsoever on my Genesis sedan, nor do I ever expect to.

Mine was completely rattle free until the other day. I had a rattle from the package tray in the rear. I didn't get to investigate it until last night and found out that my trunk liner fell down. It is secured at the rear, but in the locations near the back of the seat it pulled loose. On my next oil change, I'll have the dealer look at it. For now, I wedged the corners under the side panels and it seems to be holding and not rattling.

Agreed, Disaster.
Overall I think the Genny forum is very mature compared to some other popular forums with younger crowds, and I wish to keep it this way.
Let's keep personal insults to ourselves, shall we?

Moving on to the topic in hand, I don't have any rattles of course(only 1400 miles on the ODO), but I do get some rattles from inside the door panels when I play DVD audios with heavy bass.
I wouldn't consider this a problem, as I'm sure most luxury cars will exhibit some sort of rattles when loud musics are played.
I'm planning on applying some sound deadening materials inside the door panels to reduce/eliminate the noise.

Dan

I get an occassional rattle at the passenger sun visor. Can't deterine what it is, but I guess I'm used to it!
