If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How free from rattles are the Genesis?........

ok folks...I've cleaned the thread up.

BE NICE!:D

I should point out that the speaker "rattle" I mentioned above was something to do with how the speaker and/or speaker cover was mounted, it had nothing to do with sound from the speaker although playing music with loud bass did also produce a rattle. I didn't really consider that the type of rattle the OP was asking about.

Basically, both doors would rattle slightly when simply riding down the road and you could press on the speaker covers on the doors and quiet the noise. I don't know if they missed something that should have dampened that noise during assembly, but the dealer did something that corrected it although one side is doing it again on occasion. It's certainly not a big deal.

If the car wasn't otherwise so quiet I'm not sure I would even hear these little noises.

I'm at 20,000 miles and rattle free in my Genesis. It still have a smooth ride and no rattles to date.

I have a 2009 4.6 tek. the only rattle i have ever experienced is a slight one from the sunshade when I had Biggie slammin on the lexicon at full blast! (seriously turned all the way up)

its a much quieter car than my XJ-8 - thx Hyundai!

I have a 2010 3.8 Sedan with 5K miles on it. Not a rattle, not a squeak.

The car seems so solid that I think it will last a long, long time, and continue to give a firm, controlled ride for at least 150K to 200K miles.

Real quality!

I've had my Genesis 4.6 sedan for about 2 months now. Almost immediately after getting it I noticed some soft rattles which my husband tracked down to the plastic behind the rear view mirror vibrating against the front windshield. I also have a thump in the sunroof when turning a corner and a rattle somewhere in the rear seat area we haven't tracked down yet. Hoping things will work themselves out, as I love the car.

OMG, I just noticed that TJPark01 has a few specs of dust in his car!

Stay thirsty my friend.

Crap!!!! I just noticed my first rattle in my car!!!

Found the problem was my sunglasses in the sunglasses holder above yonder:eek:

I've only owned my 2010 Genesis for about two months, but so far there are absolutely no rattles. It is a very quiet and solid car.

While the cabin is very well insulated, the vibration and rattles I get when playing music is driving me nuts.
I removed the driver's door panel and applied some sound deadening material and it made a hugh difference.
No rattles from the inside of the driver's door, and it relatively makes the noise from the passenger's door appear louder.
I'll be spending more time pinpointing the vibration points over the weekend and hopefully ELIMINATE all of 'em.

One spot I found, but having trouble figuring out a solution, would be the arrows switch for the side mirrors.
On the driver's door, all the buttons and switches are very solid, except for that arrow dial, which is loose

I'll see if I can disassemble that buttons module.

BTW, the assembly and packaging inside of the door panel was pretty amazing.

Can I ask what type of music that you listen to? And at what kind of volume?

When some gangbangers drive by me with all of my windows up the subwoofers in their car rattle mine!

I am an audiophile, so I protect my hearing and in my home I never listen to music that has peaks above the low 90's db. I use an SPL meter, so I know what I am doing.

There are no rattle when I'm playing mp3 formats or regular audio CDs.
Rattles are most noticeable when I play DVD formats, especially those with lots of bass.
Any Blueman Group's DVD @ volume=15 would shake pretty good and causes lots of vibration and rattle noises that are normally generated somewhere inside the door panel.

Last night, I took off both the front doors' panel and applied sound deadening material and made sure there's no part or module that generates ANY rattle noise.

I also disassembled that windows button module and eliminated the noise from that mirror control dial button.

George Benson DVD at volume 15 never sounded better :)
Most of the rattles are gone now and now I start to notice very slight noise coming from the front dash. Probably somewhere around the speedo cluster.
My quest for rattle noise never ends.

Don't get me wrong, the car is free of rattle 99% of the time.
I'm just very anal when it comes to sound deadening and clean sound reproduction that these little noises bug me.

Rattle from sunroof area. Much quieter than my IS 250 and much less rattles but not totally rattle free, but I'm super critical about such things. Did not bother to mention to dealer as I've had zero success with getting rattles fixed in cars.

No rattles yet. Not a single one (knock on wood).

No rattles when driving around, but try some DVD audios with enough bass and see how it goes. :)
I've spent quite some time pinpointing the rattles from the front doors and over 90% of 'em are gone now.
Now I'm starting to hear rattles from the rear deck and some from the dash area.
I have to get rid of those.

18,000 MILES, NOT a rattle, squeak, or noise. 14 months old.:D

OK - My time to chime in on this one.

Location - Old mill city with lots of cobble stone and unused trolley/train tracks with crap asphalt roads everywhere...

That being said, the Genesis is holding up but I am noticing a "creek" noise coming from the glove box. I can make the noise happen if I press on/around the glovebox with my hand and can also make the noise with glovebox door open.

It sounds like two pieces of plastic that are tightly together rubbing one another. Other than that and the rear sunshade making noise when the bass is up it is rattle free.

My 09 3.8 has 29K miles onit and not a rattle or any other issue what so ever. Great car!

I get an occassional rattle at the passenger sun visor. Can't deterine what it is, but I guess I'm used to it!

My 2010 4.6 Tech has began developing a rattle that it seems to be coming from the passenger sun visor. Did you get yours fixed?
