Q1) Should I jack up the entire front end or just the passenger side when changing the transfer case (TC) fluid?I don't have car ramps and will use jack stands. My thought is entire front end will need to be jacked up to get as much fluid as possible out of the transfer case.
Q2) Did you have any issue with re-aligning the TC and cross brace/frame during reassembly?
My concern is the TC shifting relative to mounting on the frame and have jack around the TC to get bolts/holes to line up.
I took my 2018 G80 3.3 Sport HTRAC to local Genesis dealer last Friday for
1) Front and rear differential fluid changes.
2) Transfer case fluid change.
3) Propeller shaft TSB 20-DS-002HG
4) Replace A/C thermistor
Had a loaner for the day. Dealer called me at end of day saying none of the work had been done because they couldn't find the Shell TF0870B transfer case fluid. Very disappointing. They are ordering/searching for the parts to do the work above. I expect them to subsequently refuse to do the TC fluid replacement. I've seen online reports there is a dealer bulletin explicitly stating DO NOT change TC fluid.
I'm averse to providing/having them use the Ravenol fluid because it may be a reason to decline a warranty claim if there is a problem with TC in the future. I have no objections to using the Ravenol fluid if I do it myself.
I've looked online for the Shell TF0870B transfer case fluid, but it is as rare as unicorn blood. Found the Genesis branded TC fluid on ebay for $9.89USD / qt sold by a seller of collectibles, ephemera, records, and vintage items. This seemed very sketchy as most of the TC fluid is ~$40->$50USD.
