  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings

Been reading these posts as I decided the best car to buy. Last week I got a black/cashmere 2010 4.6 Tech. Great car and really enjoying it. I did have some problems with the radio. Kept turning off by itself and also spitting out the CDs sometimes! Back to the dealer she went and the head unit was replaced. All the problems I was experiencing are gone but I have two questions.

On the original head unit the xm traffic was working. Now it is not. I checked the settings to "show traffic" and it is checked. Asked xm to send the signal again and no luck. I live in Houston so I think I should be getting traffic. Any ideas to check? Xm radio is working fine.

Second question. With the new radio it looks like the map data base is 3/2008. That does not sound very up to date although I did not look at the map version on the other unit. Am I missing an update? Am I missing any functionalities - like the traffic - if this is not the latest version?

With the messages from others about their nav problems I don't want to mess anything up if it is working ok- at least much better than the first unit! Any help is appreciated.

Your radio ID may have changed when the new head unit was installed, so you should make sure XM thinks you have the right ID.

The 2010 should have a newer map database, and if it didn't, there's a TSB to update them at no cost. It sounds like the replacement head unit was a 2009 part (no big deal since the system hasn't changed), but you should ask your dealer about that.

Welcome, BTW. :welcome:

Welcome and congrats on your new ride!
Too bad you already experienced a problem.
You might wanna check with your dealer on what parts were replaced, because it's been reported that the XM radio ID is stored in the amplifier, not the HU.
If it's only the HU that's been replaced and you're not seeing the traffic info on your screen, then it could be a problem with database.
Just FYI, traffic info are only displayed on major highways. Are you sure you're not seeing the info you used to see with the older HU?

My '09 tech pack Nav has a S/W version of 4/2008. You definitely want to get yours updated since it's an '10 model.

Good luck!

Dan

Thanks for the responses. I am certain that the Navtraffic is not showing - flow or accidents - on major Houston highways. It was with the previous head unit. I asked XM to send the signal again an still no luck after following their directions.

The repair work ticket for the car showed the head unit being replaced, not the amp. When you mentioned possible database corrupt, what does that mean and more importantly, is there something I can do to fix it?

The navtraffic options in settings are there and I can select or deselect them.

Thanks!

I also live in Houston and the XM/traffic is a joke all I ever see is a bunch of red lines on I-10, 610 and 59 no accidents on redirects. What does everyone else see?

I'm not sure if it's the database corruption or not, I was just talking out of my a$$ :D
But since it's only the HU, which contains the HDD w/ map database and whatnot, that's been replaced, that's all I can think of.
We can't modify the database on our end, so you definitely want to go talk to the dealer.
Good luck.

Actually for the 2010 Sedan models Hyundai has not released the mapping software update for that yet. On the 2009 models Hyundai is anticipating a new mapping software update the end of June 2010 but for the 2010 Sedan it will not be until around 4th quarter 2010.

Follow up from my own post....

I had the Navunit updated with the April 2010 discs from the dealer. Three discs, three hours or upload. GOt the car back and the XM traffic is working now and the maps have been updated to the 8/25/09 version. Everything seems to be working as it should so far. Thanks for the help to forum members on this.:)
