2009 vs. 2010 Genesis Sedan 4.6L question

Hello! I am test-driving the 2009 and 2010 4.6L Sedans tomorrow morning and am wondering if the 2010 is a significant upgrade from the 2009? Would you consider the advancements *significant*? I realize this all depends on your definition of the word, but I am curious to know folks' thoughts.

Invoice prices on each are:

2009: $37,815 fully loaded with all options
2010: $40,225 w/Technonology Package

Thoughts?

The 2010 (which I have) has the adaptive cruise control and the automatic brake hold(I couldn't live without it) and depending on production dates has an upgrade to the suspension..... These are the only differences!

First, price could go a lot lower on both. I hope you're aware of that already.(Unless it's an OTD price.)
Secondly, if I were to do all over again, I'd probably opt for the '10 model.
They have the latest changes applied to the suspension(not sure how significant), the ACC(active cruise control), and electronic parking brake & hold feature.
There was a report saying that the roof has been reinforced on '10 models to withstand more stress upon rollover.

I think people are picking up New 2009 4.6 Tech's for around 35K/36K. If you test drive both cars you will most likely not notice a difference in suspension. I would really love to have adaptive cruise control though. I'm a cruise control gigolo.......

There were some changes mid-year to the 2009 suspension (somewhere around April/May 2009 build date), but also some additional changes for all 2010 models, and "improved steering" in the 2010 according to Hyundai. The changes are less noticeable (or maybe not at all noticeable) on smooth roads, but they are noticeable on some less than perfect roads. Both the 2009 and 2010 suspensions are firm, so don't expect a cushy ride in either model year.

It was mentioned above that the roof bracing was improved to achieve 5-star crash rating, but unless you are driving way over 85 MPH (some in this forum may fall into that category) then that is unlikely to make a difference.

Personally, I would go for the 2010. The 2009 models are still around and heavily discounted for a reason.

AFAIK, All 2010 models have revised suspension/steering components (changes to spring and shock rates, and revised bushings) regardless of manufacture date. The changes are subtle, but effective on bad roads. The purpose of the changes was not to make the ride softer, but to reduce bounciness and loss of suspension control on bad roads (the early 2009 models have springs that tend to overpower the shocks in some situations).

How does one find the manufacture date? I know the VIN number gives the model year and plant of manufacture, is there a date code in the serial number?

If you do some more searching, you'll be able to find better deals on '09 leftovers.
My dealer has an advertised price of $36,999 and that means there's still room for haggling.

I doubt you can haggle with the Costco program. That is why they offer it, so they don't have pay salesperson commissions or salary to someone who will haggle with you.

I couldn't tell you for sure becasue I have not priced any 2010 models, but I suspect the Costco price is pretty good (from reading other posts about it), or at the very least is nothing to be embarrassed about. I think the V6 is a better deal, but if you want to the V8 go for it.

So is the costco deal done at a costco store? Or is there a costco rebate at the dealer and you just have to show the Costco card?

You know where you stand price wise now.... I would offer $35K (or maybe $34,500) firm for a 2009 and if they don't bite and you really want a 2010 then do the costco thing... $4000 is a decent amount of money to be saved. If financing you might not look at it this way.

Thanks for everyone's info. I just drove an A6 as well and now I'm torn between this Genesis and the A6. There's a $10k difference but I sure did love that A6. Going to be a long weekend!
