  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So sexy. Bmw shifter now and lexus 460 tail pipes. Biggest thing though is the 8 speed automatic transmission. I question the report about the 5.0 liter engine though. the super charged 8 cylinder is supposed to put out about the same power and deliver 7% better fuel economy. That would give it 18 city and 26 highway. Almost on par with the v6. Big ups to Hyundai.... now i need to trade my 09 Genesis... Any takers?

Wow, the Genesis get's the Bangle butt treatment. The new shifter is also straight out of the BMW playbook which means the 8 speed is some type of dual clutchless automatic transmission. I dislike the Bangle butt.

It is more likely there will be no V8 rather than a 5 liter one.

I believe that's tape between the two tail lamps. The only changes to the rear are the new dual exhaust.

The changes are very subtle, but numerous:

-Top slat of the grille on the hood is now all chrome (no more chrome + matte silver paint)
-Lower air damn/intake is trimmed in chrome
-Rear trunk chrome piece above the license plate is thicker and dips down at the ends similar to the Sonata
-Front and rear bumper rub strips are curved slightly/thicker near the outer edges
-New ugly (IMO) BMW-inspired gear shift knob (8 speed auto?)
-Center armrest now matches the steering wheel and not the seats
-Adaptive cruise and parking sensors are now hidden (no more visible sensors on the bumpers in spite of a button for the sensors on the inside of car and the area where the fog lights once resided now seem to house the adaptive cruise system)
-Integrated exhaust tips ala Equus (or Lexus LS)

Not sure if a couple of these details are limited to the KDM Genesis or are merely pre-production, but those are all the changes I can make out. The seat stitching is also different, but the KDM Genesis has had these seats for a while. I do not see the presence of LED headlights like the article indicates.

The shifter doesn't look that bad and I like that it gets rid of the plastic insert on the 2010's that always gets dust down in it. The tail end truly looks 110% Lexus now, almost a dead ringer. I noted in your signature that your 2009 V6 Genny has the Illuminated Door Sills, was this aftermarket or standard on yours..it is not on the 2010 V6 and I have every possible option available on the vehicle so far as I'm aware. Thanks and great looking car !! :)

Nice! I like the subtle changes.
Definitely want that shifter. + 8speed.

Dan

It's hard to be sure from the one photo, but it appears that the front passenger seat may be cooled now, too.

Lighted door sills are available from Korean Auto Parts, although they're not cheap ($190 for the front pair and $150 for the rear...I have the fronts only), but you may be able to find them elsewhere (eBay?) for a lower price. Arguably, it's a rather subtle pay-back tweak for the money, but since I was compelled to replace my pre-Gen car long before V8s were available (Aug 08), it's one of the add-on's that I just couldn't resist.

I like the tail pipes, the shifter... not so much, but its no deal breaker. Looks nice!

Looks like no fog lights? cruise sensors instead?

Good eyes.
Yeah, I think you're right. Looks like they hid it in there.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I really did want to hold on to my 09 for life, but I may actually have to upgrade to a 2011....

Now you got me all curious. :D
Would you be able to snap a picture next time you're there?
I'd love to see what kind of wheels you're talking about.
Thanks!

Dan

Nearwater, this came from another thread, but I put it here as it is a newer thread

Nearwater, I was never able to find a picture of the rims I had seen. I even went back to the dealership, but they had sold the couple of 2009s that I saw the rims on. However someone posted pics of the 2011 Genesis and the Wheels on this car look very close to what I had seen before. This is the best picture of the wheels I could find. The Arching pair of spokes is exactly what the wheels looked like on the 2009.

That must be the 17" base wheels for the 3.8 base model.
Interesting. I much prefer the 18" 3.8 wheels. :)

Dan

Wasn't there a post by an OC dealer saying there would be no changes especially no 8-speed?

I wonder which gossip source is correct?

If that redesign is new enough in Korea to have a spy shot taken and posted on the internet, it's very possible that the US will get it as a '12 model later next year.
Duct tape around the shifter trying to hide something means they're not ready yet to 'announce' the model specifications.
Considering the fact that it took 7 months after the release in Korea, for the Genesis to go on sale here in the U.S, I'd bet it won't be sold as a MY11 model.

So, Dan you've seen this wheel before? - Would you have a picture of it?

I found it very attractive. Maybe the best Stock Wheel I've ever seen, to my taste.
