  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Downloaded the new software update for my 2023 GV80 via USB stick

I have a 2023 and in my pursuit of a solution, I have installed the update more than once, performed a hard reset more than once, and disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. The result is no change in the HUD. Btw, the battery disconnect for me was not a big deal, no resetting was necessary.

I started a case with mapinsoft on10/30 and furnished them all the information they requested: downloaded file details, numerous screen shots of HUD and menu screens, and interestingly they also asked for a picture of my 64MB USB. This exchange of information occurred in the first 3 days after starting the case, and since then nothing but radio silence from mapnsoft. I have sent numerous requests for an update on my case and all I get back is "So sorry, and we are busy working on it".

I also started a case with Genesis customer care and escalated into a number of supervisor levels, none of the supervisors were remotely aware of the issue and all of them pointed me back to mapnsoft.

Grrrrr, a two-month-old car and its now missing features it had when I purchased it.
Have you spoken to your dealership about this issue?

I found a PR contact for Hyundai Corp in Europe.
I have provided them with a summary of the situation and referred them to this specific forum.
We share see if it bears any fruit.

I placed another follow-up call with mapnsoft and had a lengthy conversation with the representative named Dorthy (no new information). However, in conversation, Dorthy told me that she had only three (3) cases like mine with the HUD issue! WTH? Three reports cannot be all there is, there must be more representatives.

Has every 2023 owner with this issue reported it to mapnsoft? I would encourage anyone who has not reported it directly to mapnsoft, please do so as soon as possible. The number of reports/cases will only work to our advantage.

Yes, I have spoken to the dealership and the conversation was not helpful. However, I am going to take the car next week and revisit the problem with significant persistence.

I would bet that most of the people that own these cars have not even don the update yet. And what percentage of them have the HUD or is that standard on all models now? And how many just turn off the HUD and how many don't even have that feature turned on the HUD?

I have reported it Mapnsoft immediately after the update on about 10/31, and provided all the details they were looking for. Video showing the speed limit in HUD disappearing after boot, screen shots of various menu settings and software/build versions, etc.

Followed up multiple times and received various responses from ‘working on a fix’ to ‘hardware problem, see the dealer’.

Also have an open case with Genesis which is completely worthless. Absolute crickets despite numerous follow up calls asking for an update on my case. ‘An engineer will call you back.’ When, I ask? ‘I don’t know sir’.

There has to be more than three cases with them. BS.

This is turning into a real CLUSTER, pun intended.

Speaking of clusters, while checking to see if my HUD is also missing the speed limit indicator after the update (Canadian model), I also realized that the GV80 doesn't have the tile that shows how much power is going to each wheel in the instrument cluster. Maybe it never had it, but it's definitely on our GV70s. Does anyone know if the GV80 ever had this?

I have never seen it on my 2021 Prestige in Canada.

Thanks, folks. At least I'm not imagining things. Lol

Has any noticed that the software version for the 2023 Gv80 is listed as JX1.USA.P6.001.005.221014 in the Oct 2022 notice. The one that downloaded is

JX1.USA.P6.001.005.221017.
Wonder if this has anything to do with the HUD issue?

Yes, I saw that and yes, it could be, but do not know what the difference is between them. I tried the 2022 GV80 update that is supposed to be the same as the 2023 but there was no difference. Did not pay attention to the update version number for the 2022.

There is a choice of which version to download. I attempted to download the 21014 version onto the stick.

No, there is a download for the 2021 GV80, 2022 GV80 and the 2023 GV80. You can download any of them, but only one download for each model year. I did try all of them and did not have any success getting the HUD and other features back.

The download app has a field for the software version as well year and model.

You use Vehicle and year or search. Not all three. As I said, there is not multiple downloads for each model year.

The update I loaded reports ver: JX1.USA.P6.001.005.221017.

I was unable to download 21014 version. I’ll be at dealership on Tuesday and will see if rollback is possible as they have the previous software versions.
