If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Downloaded the new software update for my 2023 GV80 via USB stick

Yes, there is supposed to be a mid-November update.

There are 2 releases per year. One in spring and one in fall. The fall update was released on Oct 25, 2022. That is what started all this. The next update is scheduled for the spring of 2023.
If they plan to do a 2nd fall update, I've not heard about that.
Well thats what i have been told, but you are right there are only 2 updates in a year. This is totally messed up, no proper quality check before making it a official update.

FYI, just got this from Mapnsoft after I asked for an update on the HUD issue. This is BS.

Unfortunately since this is an issue with the HUD we cannot assist with the issue you are experiencing with the speed limit display. You will need to bring the matter to your dealers attention so they can escalate the problem to the engineers of the unit. They may need your system log during this process, but at this time all we can recommend is a reinstall of the update since the matter is out of our control.
On Nov 11, mapnsoft sent this message to me: ( I've applied the update 3 times).

Hello CEM,

Thank you for reaching back out to us, after a second reading of your vehicles original issues, we recommend reapplying the update to fix any quirks it may have came up with after the first install. If this does not resolve the issue, we recommend taking the vehicle into the dealership for a technician to perform a diagnosis, and if there is a hardware issue, report it into the system logs and send the issue to their engineer.

As for the heads up display issue, the engineers are currently working on a fix for this and will be available with the next update, as of now we have no exact date for a release to this fix.

Sincerely,
Josh

Boy are they spinning a tale.
This is probably a liable issue.

Of course, the real issue is that the message from mapnsoft, posted above by blsschaefer1, directly contradicts the message I got from mapnsoft that I posted above. See bolded text in both messages from mapnsoft.

I do know there has been some confusion about the mid-November release. The official release was available for download on October 25, 2022. The availability of that same release on a USB drive ( that the customer could order instead of downloading ) was to be mid-November. Both the download version and the USB drive are the same release.
Not sure if the mid-November release is referring to the availability of the USB drive (with the Oct 25 version of the update) or if there is actually to be a new release for download in mid-November.

Can you imagine BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, etc. referring a customer to a subcontractor for resolution to a problem? Never. They’d own it, as Genesis should.

Instead, Genesis has created dysfunctional loop where they don’t have ownership of the problem and the subcontractor is pointing fingers back the other way.

They built a great car in the GV80 but if they want to compete at the highest level they need to dramatically up their game in the customer service area.

I’ve phoned and emailed Genesis (and obviously Mapnsoft) multiple times about this and another issue I’m having regarding connected services and it’s……crickets.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have noticed though, on every occasion that I pass a speed limit sign, my car shows the new limit exactly as I am passing the sign. I actually was thinking that they should show the speed change earlier
We see the same change as we pass a sign with a new speed. The new speed appears on the cluster. We live in a semi rural area with many speed signs changes.

Spoke to service manager at dealership. Was told they will rollback to April version using their USB sticks.

Thanks for that info. After what I have been through during the past 3 weeks, I have lost confidence in Genesis, mapnsoft and my dealership regarding this software. I have to wonder if roll-back is truly safe. Genesis and mapnsoft refuse to do it. There are situations where a database is modified such that it cannot be reverted back to its previous state, without additional special software. I have no idea if a database is involved here, and if it can be rolled back, but I'm skipping that option.
I think I will just bide my time until down the road when there are sufficient reports of new software that works. I have lost some features, but can live without them right now. With the lack of quality control, disparate info, and confusion coming from these three entities, I fear they will make things worse. At least my vehicle operates with the critical features right now.

Mine appeared to do that also but now responds differently since going to V16.5, or maybe I just wasn't paying attention. o_O

I just came from an Audi that I had for 4 years. Audi would just deny the problem existed, if you were able to contact anyone on the phone to talk to. The dealer would smile and tell you they were working on it and do nothing.

Yes, Someone screwed up, but at least it looks like they are admitting the problem and will do something about it. But that being said, it still sucks.

Being an early adapter to home computers back in the 80's, I am never the first one to upgrade anything I own unless I have a problem with it and that upgrade was designed to fix my problem. I downloaded the map update a few days after it came out, but it still sits on my desk as I waited for the beta testers to try it out. But to be honest, Because I have a 21, I think if I install it it will not affect my car. But I really have no need to do it so I will wait for the upgrade. I use google maps anyway for navigation.

I have not had my car serviced yet as I have only had it since February and have less than 4,000 miles on it. (I purchased a leftover 21 that was sitting on the lot with 200 miles on it) But from what I have read, I will not be a happy pup. But on the bright side, they did open a Stand alone Genesis dealer that is even closer to me that the one I got it at. And I am retired, so I can drive the car there myself and wait or get a loaner. I will find out soon.

Just to let you know, I did install the update on my '21 prestige (3.5) and have not had any problems/concerns with this latest update. But I understand your cautious approach. I too use google maps for navigation, but a question for you, do you use AA (via usb connection - not any wireless dongle)? The reason I ask is that I have had alot of cases where my maps/directions just restart on the head unit. I will admit that I have been running the latest beta version of AA (trying to get the COOLWALK features) so it could be that I just have a buggy drop from google. Interested if anyone else has the issue. It's not the cable because the music is still playing and the album cover still shows up on head unit (at least 99% of the time)

No, I use the Motorola Wireless AA Device and I have not had such issues.

Jhon, I have a 2021 also and have experienced no issues with the design or quality of the car I purchased April 2020. I'm approaching 48K miles and my 8th service, which I now am doing in my home garage. My only disappoint has been the level of Customer Service I receive from the 2 Dealers I've dealt with, both lacking in vehicle knowledge and Customer treatment. The only issue I have with Genesis Motors is the screening of it select Dealerships. The Dealers are working on your Genesis with Hyundai skills and attitudes!

Don't be scared of the GV80, it's great and unless something really bad happens to change my mind, my next will be another Genesis (not EV). BTW, this is my second Genesis.

Thanks, I love my car, I have just read a lot of service related problems on this site. But now that there is a Genesis only dealer within range, (Fort Myers, Florida) I feel better, but probably everybody is going to want to go there and they will take care of the the people that purchased from them first. Funny, the number one selling dealership is in Naples Fl (Where I got mine) and to my knowledge, they have no plans break off from Hyundai.

WTF??!! Just started the car and now speed limit sign is displayed in the HUD! Exceeding the posted speed limit turns the numbers both in the HUD and speed limit sign in cluster red. Did not change any settings. Display for radio and media in HUD only shows FM and AM. Sirius XM does not show when stations are changed. Weird!

Does your car have the October 25, 2022 update (ver 16.5) or does it have the April version? The April version worked just fine.

Just keep in mind that the Dealers earn (or make) more profit in the Service area then the Sales Floor.

Ver 16.5. Lost the HUD features as others had described, but all of a sudden have shown up again. No explanation!

So strange. With the 16.5 version, when I start my car the HUD speed limit sign shows up while the system is still booting everything up, but once everything is loaded, the speed limit sign just disappears.

If I stop and restart the car it does not show up at all. After the car if off for a long period of time, it shows up again only while the car is booting everything up, then disappears.

Strange.

Gremlins! I was skeptical when the display reappeared so drove the car through different speed zones (yes, would seem that front camera does input speed sign limits) and exceeded speed limit to test speed limit warning. Turned off the HUD in the vehicle settings, confirmed no display, then reenabled. Everything showed up! I did speak to service manager this morning but doubt that has anything to do with this.
