  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How to get Apple Carplay/Android Auto in a 2015-2016 Genesis Sedan Ultimate (9.2" Screen) - KPLAY

I echo that sentiment, dash removal was the most difficult part for me too. Did you check out Maps with satellite rendered streets ?.
I haven't had time to play w/ that yet... And I still have some of the Kplay settings to tweak. When time allows, I intend to post install diagrams w/ notes to help others, as the current documentation is obtuse, to say the least. The harness seems to include various wires & plugs that aren't even needed - that was my big trip up. It's actually way easier than it appears, you can overthink this thing pretty quickly.

Finally did - Pretty Cool! (y)

See attached for my Car4Play Install Sheets for Dummies (like me), based on recent experience. They really did make this much harder than it needed to be....

@skipgen Did you get the steering track change controls working ?
That’s working… I am having trouble making / receiving calls while in CarPlay. It dials, but I can’t hear anything. Even if I make sure it’s in aux.

Your phone audio may be set to bluetooth, did you have to program anything for steering track change buttons ?.

To be honest, I haven’t even tried the steering track buttons. I’m sure it’s a BT thing - I’ve got it set up as per instructions…. I think.

I seem to have full functionality as far as apps go. I can make calls & listen to voicemail, etc. but can’t hear the incoming call.

I may just have to reset the box and start from scratch…

I haven't seen a setting for changing phone audio. Can't find that setting anywhere... Thought that was the whole purpose in using Wireless CarPlay...?

Things that work -
- Track up/down buttons (did not program - just worked)
- Music, will have to install a noise suppressor. Good 'ol RF whine in effect! Supplied aux audio cable is hot garbage.
- Touch features work well, especially after calibration. Not bad even out of the box... Maybe even responds better than the native CarPlay screen in the wife's KIA.
- Graphics are very crisply rendered. But I figured as much w/ the Ultimate's 720p screen. Google maps Satellite View looks very cool.

Things that don't -
- Cannot hear incoming calls, cannot be heard by recipient.
- Backup camera not switching on while in CarPlay. Perhaps a dip switch got jostled when I was stuffing the boxes in the dash...

Does your Carplay voice command work, that would be an indication that the Kplay mic is working, Double check dipswitch 4 for the reverse camera problem. Engine noise is hard to solve, I tried a few different inline noise suppressors with no success, what work the best for me was chassis grounding both units, although not gone completely at my normal listening levels I don't hear any engine noise, but if I turn up radio to very high levels with no audio source playing, I get a soft low frequency engine noise, not the high pitch squeal that I got before using the chassis ground.

Carplay mic does indeed work - and so does the rest of it apparently. Seems like resetting the KPLAY to factory settings did something for it.

I have made calls and had messages read out loud from the interface. Will have to test for receiving calls, etc. though. Still have to check the dip switch for the reverse cam - I'm a little too lazy to open the dash again this weekend. At the same time, I'll update my aux cable & install the inline RF suppressor.

I think the dip switch setting is ok.
dip Switch settings,
1 OFF 2 OFF 3 ON 4 OFF 5 ON 6 OFF 7 ON 8 ON 9 OFF 10 OFF
The reason touch screen wasnt working, I was seeing kplay rca video on my screen and didnt realize it wasnt kplay lvds signal. I was able to get get it working using the press button, but long hangup press or reverse detect not working, and both those feature uses can connections, I double check my can connections, for now it working without those 2 features, I will get back to it at a later date. While I was at it I installed I usb 3 port usb charge socket, replacing 1 of the 12v lighter socket, replaced the 2nd 12v lighter socket with aux / usb port connected to kplay, I also added a rear 3 port usb charge socket and recycle 1 12v lighter socket in the rear also, came out real good. Did you lose any features with the KPlay 2?

For those of you that have this installed - Have you run into any problems w/ your main (stock) display? When on stock interface, I'm starting to get on screen display glitches & image dropouts. When I switch over to CarPlay, the screen looks normal with no issues/artifacts....

I haven't noticed that at all, but have not been spending much time on the normal screen to be fair.

I go back & forth - In my case, music sounds much better when not running it through the CarPlay interface.
