  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2023 G70 Sport Prestige 6k miles at about 8 k started getting clunking noise mostly on uneven pavement. Most noticeable when the suspension drops and you're traveling 5-10 mph, a hallow thunk. Demanded a road test the tech said he didn't hear anything. They replaced stabilizers and on 2nd trip to service they replaced the strut assembly bearings, whatever that may be, My initial suggestion was to replace both strut assemblys they denied my request..I am now told due to a manufacture issue they are designing a new strut assembly due to excessive owner complaints about the suspension. I also had to replace a headlight that filled with water / condensation at 2,500 miles therefore didn't work waited 4 weeks for that. All the promises and buildup! Very dissapointing as a new customer to the brand, and maybe worse because they have one guy at the Hyundai dealership representing Genesis. They are forever swamped, can barely keep up with return calls as we are still awaiting a stand alone Genesis only facility in S Florida !

I feel like I have the exact same issue with my G70 3.3 Sport Prestige @ 700 miles. It's mainly on the right front and sounds similar to when the top strut bolt is slightly loose. I checked it and it wasn't loose so took it in to be looked at right now. It's even noticeable at low speeds when drivong over a resessed manhole cover. Are you saying the stabilizer and assembly bearings didn't help the problem? A what do you mean about them designing a new strut assembly?

I feel like I'm starting to get disappointed as well.

Yes so I sat down with the top technician at the dealer hes been in communication with Corp who informed him of this new design it appears there may be a manufacture defect on the current assembly, so because the influx of complaints they are apparently on it, sadly they could not give me a time frame. He suggest I call in weekly...but its in production then goes for testing. I was informed its safe to continue operating the vehicle, but its got really annoying and yes correct appears to be only on the right passenger side. So my question they could not answer was " why if its a defect and both driver / passenger assemblies are identical why is only the passenger side failing ? They could not answer ! The tech was also puzzled...he informed me that why its just easier for Genesis to replace both units...I suggest you have your service advisor place you on the parts order list.

I'm cursed, this crap always happens to me! Is the front strut assembly really a new design in the 2023s though? When I look them up they seem to be the same part from 2019-2023. If that's the case wouldn't this issue have come up sooner? This all seems very strange to me.

They told me Genesis told them to torque the suspension to spec and that fixed the issue. I had a feeling that would not fix the issue and before I got off the lot I discovered that I was correct. I asked them about the redesign that you mentioned and they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about.

Is there a corporate hotline we can call or something? When I got my Stinger they gave us a VIP number to call lol. I plan to wait until this fix comes out and then take it back in. The G70 2.0L loaner they gave me must have been put together by a couple of drunks on a Friday afternoon because their were rattles everywhere after getting it up to 40 mph!

Please update this thread when you hear something.

What do you guys think?

Exactly the same issues for me almost since new. Now at 10K miles. Dealer stonewalled me. Could not replicate. I already replaced end links and was planning on mounts. I suspected something with assembly. Please keep us updated.

Do you have a 2023 3.3L SP as well? I would file a complaint at corporate (see link below). The more complaints they have about this issue the more likely they will take action. It should also help you with issues with your dealer. I filed a complaint and learned the my dealer's service department lied to me with they said they talked to corporate techs and were told to torque everything down to spec. The guy that called me from corporate said they were never contacted by the service department about my car.

I have another appointment towards the end of April and the corporate guy is going to monitor my appt to ensure I get a chance to drive the tech around when dropping it off and picking it up. I'm not confident that they are going to solve the issue but I want them to acknowledge that there is something wrong with the car. This will help give me what I need to file a lemon claim in my state.

I have the same issue with a 2023 awd sport prestige with 12k miles

Same issue with my 2019 awd sport prestige. They replaced the strut mount 2yrs ago
which of course didn't fix it. Because it was rather intermittent(and I'm lazy) I waited until now to
get it looked at again. Appointment booked for this Monday. Will report my findings.

I brought mine in and they did not find anything amiss with a visual inspection and could not replicate ( the pavement around the dealer is pretty good ). Kind of at an impasse

Update.

After replacing bump stop and sway bar link, they finally came to the conclusion it's the
strut. Supposedly it's on a "short" backorder and will arrive midmonth. Not holding my
breath.

Recon a road near the dealership that leaves no doubt. Industrial parks are good. Find a small pothole in a parking lot where you can drive over it several times on both sides.

Update on mine. Took the tech for a ride on crappy road and there's no doubt he heard what I was complaining about. They ordered the whole passenger side strut assembly and now we are just waiting for everything to come in. I'll update after everything thing is fixed with hopefully good news.

I have a 2019 G70 3.3 and it developed a suspension clunk or rattle really noticeable in alleys etc. I took it in more than once telling them that it was a bad strut. They replaced the upper tower etc. Yep, didn't work. They finally responded to my many years of cars experience and replaced the strut. Guess what, problem solved. At least for now.

Still waiting on all my parts to come in. They called and said it would be another 7-10 days.

Surprised you got it so quick. My dealer here in the Northeast has been waiting for a month so far.

Same as you, I've been wrenching cars all my life. Did the diag myself to determine the problem but of course they had to waist time and money with upper isolator and bump stop and link which were completely unnecessary. I loath dealers.

Update. New front right strut. It's nice to not feel like i'm driving a Nissan Sentra over bumps again.
