  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone having a problem with the trunk lid hitting the top of the bumper and removing paint from the bumper and trunk lid? We have. It's been to the dealer twice now, and they say it has plenty of clearance, and there is no reason they can see what is causing this. They did repaint both trunk lid and bumper, TWICE. It's happening again.
Customer service rep at the dealer said he is going to contact a factory rep. Kinda frustrating.

I haven't had the dealer check into mine but I do have the same issue with the trunk lid marking the bumper paint - oddly only on the passenger side. It's only visible with the trunk open so I haven't made a big deal about it yet... it's on the list of things to have the dealer look at when I bring the car in for the 15K checkup. (seat cooling "crush tubes," any ECU updates/TSBs, nav system updates/TSBs, trunk-bumper contact so far)

I'm another 2010 V8+tech package owner that will be replacing the steering wheel tilt switch a second time.

30K on the tires and they are badly in need of replacing. Looking at the Conti extremes...

Anyone else have the problem of losing the plastic caps inside the engine compartment that cover the access to the struts? They keep road dirt out of the engine area, so it sucks to lose them. The last one popped off and ended up jammed somewhere that it provided me with a burning smell for a week or two.

Only one problem. The steering wheel motor that moves the wheel up upon turning off the engine to exit the car went out. This happened about year into my ownership. Easy fix.

Throttle Body 2 times now has been replaced, throttle body sensor 1x and the Oil Control Valve 1x. Car just reached a year old on June 10...kinda depressing that such a nice car is having so many engine related issues. I have heard that this is a bigger problem in the 3.8's then in the 4.6's.

When it's not in the shop...it runs great and is a wonderful car :)

Try going back with OEM filter. Some TB sensors don't do well with the oiled K&N filter.

One minor peeve, is that I have a torn driver side door weather stripping. Don't know how it happened I''m average size so there is no need for me to grab any part of the door to exit.
Wonder if this is a warranty item?

OK, the problems I have had so far. A piece of weather stripping fell into my lap from the sunroof. (I replaced it myself) The driver's foglamp went out. The A/C compressor pretty much imploded as a bearing in it disintegrated. It took about 10 days to get the part and I had it replaced along with several of the hoses. The rear view camera flickers from time to time. (Probably a bad connection somewhere but it is very inconsistent.) I drive a 2009 3.8 with about 70K on her. It has the tech and every other package available. Been a fantastic car so far. I have a 3rd party extended coverage until 140K miles or 10 years that has a $100 deductable. It has paid for itself already. I love this car. I also want to give props to my local Hyundai dealer. Kearny Mesa Hyundai has been great to deal with to this point. (It doesn't hurt that their female service writers are pretty darn easy on the eyes too!)

It's been 3 yrs, I've had few overall minor issues w/ my Genesis that my local car dealership resolved and still many ask "Do you still like your Genesis" and I reply LOVE IT, fun to drive, sharp looking car, I truly love my "GEN"!!

Re: your A/C compressor, I had that happen to my Acura and also had to wait a week on the part. Dealer gave us a loaner until the car was fixed. Did you get a loaner from your Hyundai dealer while waiting on the compressor?

No loaner as this is not the dealer where I purchased the vehicle. When the part did come in, it was only a few hours and it was ready to go. Luckily I work only about 1/2 mile from the dealership!

I have had problems recently with the rear camera. When there is moisture, it is black or flickers in and out. I need to get to the dealer to check it out. Other than that, my Genesis 4.6 is unbelieveable. I'm two years old this month and I still love that car!

I have had my 2012 4.6 for about two weeks and my first issue was this audio blackout two days ago. I was playing a disc, parked the car and came back after about 20 minutes and all audio was dead, XM, CD, Navigation, etc. I did NOT get the antenna error. Went home and parked for about 30 minutes. Came out and all was well. Last night my wife and I were on the way to the movies and I was flipping back and forth between the Nav and a CD. It froze for a second, made an electronic sound like your old tube style televisions made when you turned them on and off and the screen when blank at the same time and quickly flashed the big "Genesis" while the entire system rebooted. It took about 10 seconds and the CD started playing right where it left off. Very disconcerting. Has anyone even seen a TSB on this audio issue? Is it just the Tech version that has experienced this? If not, we need to notify Hyundai in writing(all of us that have experienced this) so it can at least get on their radar. I don't think talking to the clueless Hyundai service guys will get us anywhere. No way I'm letting Bubba at the dealership play doctor on my Genny guessing at it by replacing parts without a clue. I've read where people have gone through head units, amps, antenna's to no avail. The only disappointments with this car so far is the audio. I love the detailed sound but the audio level is anemic and pathetically low. I like to blast my music from time to time and the max volume level is just sad for all the bragging Hyundai does about the Lexicon. An upscale audio installer offered a solution to this with a product that serves as an audio bridge between the speakers and the unit that will unleash all that wattage:) seriously considering it.

would the audio bridge work on an 09 tech?

it's very disappointing to hear about this problem in a brand new car.
you would think that with 3 years of making this type of car and Lexicon system, that it should be very reliable.

the audio black out and the fact that you can't stream music via bluetooth are the two big things for me.
the Lexicon is loud enough for me.

While I am disappointed with this issue, I am keeping it in perspective considering any car line will have its issues and these are but a few in thousands of cars made per year. The bridge will work with any model year. I will try and post specifics, just not sure about having anyone making such changes so soon. I trust the shops experience having seen them work on local athletes/celebs cars in the bay(Lamborghini's, Bentley, Ferrari, etc.). I'm just nervous about such changes.

My 2010 coupe issues.

1. Squeeking noise that at first they blame it on the struts, which was fixed noise came back 30 mins after left dealership. now they r saying that they have to replace the entire dashboard.

2. vibrations when at a stop

3. burning smell that was for a good 3 months then went away.

2012 3.8 base sedan I've had for two weeks:

Power driver seat controls are terrible. At least two of the directions don't work without pushing in (toward the central part of the seat) on the control very, VERY hard to get the seat to move in that direction. Happens on my front seat UP control and the recline DOWN control.

I think I know what the problem is, and I'm in no hurry to bring it back to the dealer for repair since I've only had the car for two weeks. I'll give it a month or two before taking it to them.

In the meantime, my sales guy (who was very good, by the way) will get an earfull ...

Still, this car looks awesome in black.
