If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had the same problem - turns out the chrome is not missing, but the prep guy just failed to pull off the protective rubber tape. Just grab an edge and pull - it will peel right off in about 2 seconds.

Sure enough - protective rubber tape is now removed. That's why I love this forum! (Among other reasons)

So I just picked up my 2010 Black/Black 4.6 w/Tech on Saturday... and I've already noticed something wrong. Sigh. At least it's not major :) Looking at pics I took at the dealership, I've had the problem since Saturday. The issue? The chrome strip around the passenger's front window is missing. Oh well, time to call the dealer - I'm sure they'll be reasonable :)

This happened to me as well. There is a thread about this somewhere on this site. Just peel it off!

1-Our 2010 4.8 won't shift into drive after starting, have to shut down, restart, then it goes into drive.
2-Glove box doesn't open when you push the button. (no it's not locked) Probably just a minor adjustment.

We are having the lock up in start mode. Did the dealer identify and correct the problem?

On Saturday I ran over a pothole or something and heard and felt a big bang. Took it to the dealer, and the rim was cracked. Tire was fine, but $450 for the rim. Not sure if this counts as a problem but it seems like it maybe shouldn't have cracked so easily.

Sunroof was leaking. Me and the dealer thought it was because the brackets on the sunroof air deflector would not let it seal. To make this short, the problem was the drain tube on the left side was not attached to the drain hole. Fixed it myself by removing the door seal and gently pulling down the head liner for access. Removing the grab handle helps.

That shows the size they have as 17". The stock size for the V8 is 18". Don't know if it's a typo or a different wheel.
I guess you could call them for the specific wheel - point is, I don't think you have to spend $450 to replace a wheel. I have the 3.8 and their price for OEM wheels is significantly less than Hyundai's (and shipping is free). I was shopping for a set of wheels for my snow tires and was considering OEM - I finally decided on a set of Bremmer Kraft's for $165 each: http://tinyurl.com/28grl5j.

Which reminds me - when I bought my car the dealer pushed very hard on an extended warranty that covered wheel damage - they claimed that if I damaged a wheel it would cost $650 to replace. Yeah, right...

I'm sorry for your issue. That is the one thing I was glad I bought when I got my Genny. For $400 the dealer gave me an unlimited 5 year "wheel coverage" that they will replace the rims for scratches (or cracks) and the tires for anything other then wear. I figured that the tire alone would be about $300 and the Rims would be close to. So one pothole in NJ could leave me with a huge bill. Im sure other owners took this option.

Paint blemishes on hood and peeling paint by on rear quarter panel drivers side were metal quater panal meets plastic bumper.
UPDATE [Just got the car back from the dealer, they had a very hard time matching the paint but they finally got it right and it looks great:D]

I turn my AV Off before turning the car off, then nearly every time I start the car back up the AV is on again to the last song on the ipod, or tuned to the radio station it was on before. This just started up last week after my dealer visit and it is really annoying.

I've had numerous experiences with bad batteries over the years. For me, premature battery failure has not been particularly unusual regardless of car make (Ford, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, the list goes on...)

Cars now with all the bell and whistles takes a toll on batteries. I'm on my third battery in my 06 TL. My OEM battery last for approx 2 years....:(

Recently my car's stop light switch is not working anymore. Not a major problem but the thing, it's the second time that this happened in 8months..

Disagree. You have an electrical problem that is sucking the life out of batteries.

Right rear door lock not working with any of the automatic systems. Will be taking it to the dealer for the fifth time for the same problem when the second actuator arrives.

Tilt steering switch failed, waiting for part.

Love the car for the price.

4.6 with Tech

Guess what.. I have the door lock problem for the 3rd time now. And yeah, I'm waiting for the door lock actuator to be shipped again.

Simple question:

Have you had problems with your Genesis since you bought it, and if so, how many and what kind? Please feel free to reply w/ the further details/info.

And guys, lets keep this civil. There has been way to much bickering and infighting around here lately IMO.

FWIW, I've had zero problems aside from a very small (less than the side of a tic tac) paint defect that was promptly fixed under warranty. I selected no problems in the poll simply because that is what I feel most closely resembles my experience thus far after nearly 13 months of ownership.
I've owned the car for about a month now, it was purchased used with 13751 miles on it and in service from Sep '08. I had them look at the cooled seat (nothing really wrong as long as I don't use the lumbar feature) and will be taking it in to have the DIS knob replaced tomorrow. Other than that, nothing. My '08 Honda Accord had many more problems than that in the first two years I owned it (steering rack leaking - had to be replaced, CD changer quit working - had to be replaced, and the kicker, used oil like crazy, 1 quart in 2800 miles and Honda Corporate office didn't really care) so I traded it in for my Genesis. Got over 3000 miles on it and not a drop of oil missing!

Replaced steering wheel tilt/telescoping control - twice.
Currently in the shop to replace the DIS control head. Due to periods when it didn't work correctly.

Interesting you mention a 2x repair on the tilt/power mechanism... I've had mine in once and it's starting to stick again on the way down at startup... So far, I've not brought it back, but there's clearly something wrong with the overall mechanism.

I just got a 2011 V6 Tech and the DIS seems to take much longer to boot up than it did in my 2009 V6 Tech. (By "booting up," I mean how long it takes to go from the Genesis splash page to the "nanny" page where you have to press the DIS knob.) It has even rebooted half a minute or so after starting. Anyone else noticed this?
