I recently put 5000k in my headlights as well as my foglights. I also applied lamin-x 12% gunsmoke tint to my fogs to take away glare from the HIDs down there. I suggest doing this if you want ALOT more light on the road! I also VHT tinted the red on the tail lights but left the clear uptop untouched. I only did three coats and didn't black it out like most people do which allows to to be really glossy and almost looks OEM... It's more of a dark amber. It's definitely added some individuality to my 2010 4.6 Genny
This is the closest I found for a thread describing what I want to do to my 2012.
Basically, what I'm trying to do is:
1 - Replace the HID bulb with another temperature that more closely matches the LED strip. Which matches it better: 5k or 6k? I hate the "blue" look, and the LED strip looks more 5k to me... but maybe someone here knows for sure? What bulb size is the HID? How complicated is it to change myself? Any special tools required? Can I do it from the engine bay?
2 - Same thing for the DRL bulb (make it match the LED, or at least get "closer" to that look). Halogens are fine. What color and what bulb size? Easy to get to?
3 - Same with the fogs (see #2)
Thanks guys...
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm good to go - went to the HMA site and downloaded the schematics... all I needed to know was what bulbs to buy. Thanks again!Ok I have replaced all the bulbs your referring to !
First the HID replacement I went with the 6k because it matches the white that your going to get from LED bulbs the best ! HID BLUB TYPE (D1S) purchased on eBay for 26.99! You cannot change them without removing the headlight as they are bolted in!
The DRL's which are also your high beams are H7's
The fog lamps are H8's
I believe there is a right up already on here of how to remove the headlight if not I will take some photos tom. And post a step by step! It's not difficult at all just have to loosen the bumper cover to get them off ! no special tools needed
