  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi ,everyone im new to hyundai genesis owners group need your help, i recently purchased 2009 hyundai genesis sedan 4.6 with tech package it has 62,300 miles so far since buying it the used car dealers has done / replaced the following

ABS control module, 4 rotors and pads all around, 4 tires (thats been replaced)

whats been done check engine light came on after they fixed brakes and put tires on. next day their mechanic read codes as P2189 P2187 lean bank code 2 and lean bank code 1 his conclusion was let me pour seafoam down the gas tank and take "capture can" run it through the vacuum line to clear out throttle body that should clean the engine, injectors what not. drove down the street clouds of white smoke came out eventually driving it cleared out, later that day check engine light came on again, Sat. brought it to autozone they read the codes lean bank 2, lean bank 1 and also, large vacuum leak, it needs to pass emission which it has not due to all the code, has anyone gone through this? or can HELP just bought the car couple weeks ago only have drove it once they finally took the car to hyundai dealer now they haven't told me whats going on either any help will be appreciated thank you!!!

Sounds like they knocked off a vacuum line. Keep us posted.

What kind of warrant did the used car come with? Personally, I would ask for my money back.

hi, guys thanks for the reply's to answer your question about the vacuum the used car dealer brought it to the dealership service department they found an O-ring missing when the master cylinder was replaced by their inhouse mechanic that was cause of the check engine light the dealership when i went by the tech who worked on my car was nice enough to tell me what he gone through and what he thought about the rest of the car. so far driving it a little bit yesterday runs even better the only thing he noted was the brake pedal being a little hard but i told him they did put in 4 new rotors and pads when ill drive it more today see what happens. the used car dealer is on the hook for this they delivered the car with out passing emissions test and i still don't know if it has one if not then i will have to get my money back for the car

This is a good example of newer high tech cars being difficult for shops other than dealers to fix them. If you can find a good indie shop with well trained techs and the correct diagnostic equipment you can save money. Its just hard to find an indie shop with the thousands of dollars of equipment needed for newer cars.

Definitely agree this car lot in house mechanic was ok but these engines are way too complicated the dealer figured it out in one day I'm just glad it was finally diagnosed and fix correctly
