Whats up Genesis Owners!

You know that feeling you get when you meet a SMOKIN HOT girl for the first time and find out that she has a "thing" for you??? You feel butterflies in your tummy and you find yourself doing anything you can to be around her?

Well, that's the feeling I get when I'm near my Genny! SHE HAS THE HOTS FOR ME!

The Magnaflow exhaust has taken her beauty to the next step! Like a new set of aftermarket BOOBS! HA!

Anywho, here is my HD video and opinions!

First and foremost, the DRONE issue is there...but its really not that bad. It does tend to make things rattle in the ashtray when giving a tid bit of gas at a LOW RPM.

Cruising at 60 is ok but when you approach a hill in 6th gear the DRONE really wakes up. However, I can still hold a conversation without talking loud at all.

The DRONE range is between 1000-2000 RPM

The SWEET range is between 2300-3000 RPM

Tha HOLY COW range is 3000 and UP!

Above 3000 RPM you hear mostly MOTOR sitting in the car...but anything behind you hears nothing but raw muscle!

For those interested and purchasing the system, make sure you ADD WASHERS TO THE BLACK BRACKET to prevent rattling (theres only one...so you cant miss it). FLAMENGUISTA nailed this one! Thanks bud!

Now for a disclaimer...I had no clue how much of a GOOFBALL I really am when you put a camera in front of my face. Believe it or not, when I walked in front of the camera my knees became week, palms got sweaty and I almost lost my breath there for a moment! HA! So, PLEASE FORGIVE me if I look stupid. You are more than welcome to make fun of me though...because I will be laughing WITH YOU! :p

The GOOD thing that came out of the video was that I realized how FAT I really am! Now I am very active, walk when I play golf, and eat healthy proportions... Usually I clean my plate...and everybody else's too! HA!

Enjoy guys...and Sandy! If you have any questions feel free to ask any of us!

Wow! If only I were 50 years younger... :D

Great video Ping. ....I'm kind of on the fence about getting an exhaust... I'd really like to but it might be just a little to loud for my liking... Does anyone know a easy retrofit to the existing system that would give it a little more rumble? My old Aurora 4.0 had a nice sweet sound to it stock... The Genesis on the other hand is a little wimpy in that department.

Before Mag came out with the system, I had planned on removing the secondary cats (useless) and replacing the mid-muffler with an x-pipe.

Financially speaking, it would cost just as much for them to do that than it would be to get the magnaflow and add some resonators to tone it down a bit.

The good thing about the magnaflow is that you can remove it and put the stock back on within an hour. Once you cut your existing system...its cut for life and will never be the same.

My thoughts...GO FOR IT BIG MAN!!!;)

One other note I failed to mention.

I have no doubt in my mind that I have reached 400hp. Though Dyno sheets are not available from Magnaflow at this time to back me up.

Dropping it on the line is a pull (torque) like Ive never had and top end (HP) is simply amazing!

Maybe I will go get a Dyno and Tune here before long! There is a place about 45 min. away.

:)

Great video! And thank you for mentioning the domain name at the beginning and the end! Nice the exhaust sounds Excellent! Do you have any audio/video examples of the original sound? That would probably be a nice comparison...

Interesting.. Are you considering an intake as well?

Thanks PING for the video...I'm at work so can't access it here but I'll check it out first thing when I get home.

Question about the drone: I do most of my driving in the city. I live about 1.5 miles from work (with about 7 stop lights in between). You mention that the drone is noticeable in the lower RPM range but not evident at cruising speed. For someone with an average speed (according to the trip computer) of 11 MPH... do you think the drone/rattle would be something I would constantly be hearing on my daily "commute"?

I love how quiet the car is inside (stock) but like others have said before, the stock system sounds a bit weak for a car with so much power. On the otherhand I don't want to feel like I'm trying too hard. Do you guys think the sound/loudness of the Mag "fits" the car? I think the note is sweet but is it overkill to have that sound coming out of such a refined car? I almost pulled the trigger on a Camaro 2SS before deciding on the Genesis so I am partial to the low rumble of a well engineered V8. Bottom line: I would hate to buy the pipes only to take them back off in a couple of days... User reviews on the forum suggesting that even if I buy the Mag I should "keep the stock pipes" have me concerned that the system may be borderline too loud.

Sorry for the rant...

Very nice video! I noticed your exhaust looked different then mine, even though we have the same part number. I wonder why that is....

Thanks for sharing!

YES! You will be hearing the drone non-stop. But you know what...its really not that bad. I thought I would hate it but I find just the opposite. It is a tid bit loud and LOW but as mentioned previously, its not over-bearing to the point where I could not hold a conversation with you as a passenger in a normal voice.

Your statement above was the main reason for my hesitation. This is a luxury car that has A LOT of sportiness to it. I wanted to keep the car at a luxury level...not a Flowmaster Hot Rod level. After reviewing the BORLA videos I concluded that the Borla was too raspy and loud for me. I was hoping they would build just the opposite...but they didnt listen to us...the customer. Now they have an EXPENSIVE product that most wouldnt purchase. There are a few here that have and I truly hope they enjoy their product...but it wasnt for me.

Here is the GREAT news though. Right now, Magnaflow is selling the Genesis exhaust system on ebay for nearly $1ooo. If you purchased one through performance peddler at $532 and then didnt like it, I would guarantee that you could sell yours for more than you gave for it! :D I'm an "ebayaholic" and do a LOT of business there.

Sleep it over...but you'll never know unless you give it a whirl! :p

Great video!! I just put my Mag cat back system on today! So easy. Sounds grt, and what a fit. On my initial ride with the new system, had 3 people tell me how sweet the car looked, as well I stopped by the local dealership and they want to use my car as a demo for sales ( i think i should get something for that).. performance peddler .com... nice people and came in 3 days perfectly boxed.... $519 delivered... Im guessing its up to 400 hp now, more speed on take off..

How were you able to get it for $519? Is there a different promotional code?

Thanks.

PING, Just saw the video... Awesome! Great job man and thanks!

Another question for you... Is there a point, volume-wise, where the music cancels out the drone from inside the cabin? I'm no expert in acoustics so I was hoping you or someone else could chime in on the subject.

Thanks again for the excellent video!

Thank you Sir!!

But to be honest...I've been too busy listening to the exhaust! I don't think the radio has been on yet! HA!

Let me get back to you on this one. :)

Hmm...my head hurts after watching the video...maybe that's a sign... I wouldn't mind something a little more aggressive sounding, but I don't want any drone. I'll wait for somebody to make one.

Any other thoughts from the community?

As an aside, my '04 Z4 has a tube that runs from the engine to the firewall to enhance the engine sound in the cockpit,,, strange, but it seems to work and isn't too loud.]

The wife drive the Genny mostly, so for now it will stay in stock form.

Ping - any chance a video of highway cruisin' could come this way? I'm curious to highway drone....

Have you noticed any? Do you want to bang your head against the wall on long trips?

Just wondering.... Thanks for all the good information!

HA! Great questions!

Ill see what I can do as far as a video!

At 60...the drone is definitely there and a little loud when in a 6th gear pull up hill. Cruising on a flat terrain is great

65-70...still there but not bad at all

70 and up is hardly noticeable!

I LOVE IT!!!

Pinggolf, did you contact Hyundai to confirm the installation of the cat-back exhaust system would not affect your warranty in any way? Great video by the way, sure you aint like an actor posing to be a Genesis owner? :D I was gonna order the system from performancepeddler.com for 532.00 today but thought of the possibility of voiding my warranty. Tried calling the 1-800-633-5151 Hyundai number to ask them but the are closed for the weekend. I will still call them on Monday, just wondering if you had checked on it.
