In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. First and foremost...how in the world can MotorTrend and Car and Driver give the Taurus SHO EcoBoost the performance of 5.2 to 60 and a quarter mile at 13.7??? They did pretty well with the V8 Genesis with 5.5 and 14.1 but it makes me wonder if these media outlets have stock in FORD!!! HA!

Anywho, the dude at work was talking trash...bad...and saying his SHO would "mow me down." I took him up on the offer and our friends actually placed bets on who would win.

I had ONE guy out of 8 that said my Genesis would win...needless to say...that guy made $35 on my behalf!!!

Nothing says it better than a good ole video as proof!

When you see him really falling back...its because he is limited at 133 mph. As all of you know, we can hit 156...easy!

He definetly pulled me through first gear but after that I just pulled away!

Enjoy!

Thanks, I needed to add a new favorite on my YouTube account. Rated the Vid as well. Dam, I wish the filming would have started prior to the take off even, but we'll take what we can get when we're not prepared for days like these.:D

The SHO is a tank for it's size, and the Genesis is bigger. The AWD doesn't help the SHO at all in performance except traction, but hurts the handling and top end due to the "extra baggage";)

I'm glad I went with my exhaust now, since it's just too quiet when you've dropped the hammer. I want it to sound mean when my foot is through the injectors.

Well...the filming did start earlier...its just that I received a phone call in the middle of it.

I posted the "pre-race" video as well just to clear up any misconceptions.

Ping Golf, that is a good run. I just wish you had the video from the beginning. I know the Genny can run hard after 120 mph (don't ask ;-) . Nice run taking down the SHO!

The exterior dimensions of the Taurus are actually larger than the Genesis, despite it having less interior room (the Taurus has more trunk space though).

Saw a Taurus SHO at a restaurant the other evening. The thing looks like a tank; no grace at all.

PING, just curious, are you running hi grade fuel, and a small amount of it in the tank???

HA! I was wondering who would be the first to see that!

Just good ole premium...and nothing less for me.

I totally meant to fill up on the way to work this morning but woke up waay too late!

What I meant was, the low level, IMO, is actually working FOR you if you are trying to get the best performance for whatever reason. That is just what I have found in most vehicles I have owned.

Like when Edmunds did that initial comparison of the 4.6 to the GS350 and got HORRIBLE numbers, I was just thinking, "are these idiots using a non-broken-in engine, and with a FULL tank of REGULAR?? Why did C&D just demolish Edmunds numbers??

C&D obviously does a regular protocol for the best performance, and I think Edmunds are like un-aware, or something.

At 6-7 lbs/gallon, a full 21 gallon tank gives you a bit of a weight disadvantage, if nothing else.

Never ever rely on reviews from Edmunds as they provide most unreliable data and they don't know how to get all out of a vehicle. Car & Driver is good at getting good 0-60 numbers but both edmunds and C&D are biased to certain brands and models too. I would suggest get reviews from Road & Track. They are neutral to different brands and are very reputable and reliable. The 2009 model Genesis sedan, which has 375 hp, got 13.9 sec at quarter mile, on a hot summer day.

Genesis Sedan V8 is a great performer especially at higher speeds. The rate of acceleration up top is incredible, much like that of the high performance division Mercedes AMG models.

I never saw this until now. Great video! And nice kill! You're certainly a character! :)

I wish I had some long, straight, dead streets to race on over here...

I read a Ford SHO review where they gave the times for 0-60 mph and said that "IF" you hold you foot on the brake and bring up the RPM's you will jump to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Obviously not apples to apples!!!

Here is a thought. The MotorTrend/Car&Driver test cars could be using the optional lower final drive ratio of 3.16:1 vice the standard 2.77:1.
Like I said, just a thought.

Yes, I looked at the SHO, plus the MKS with EcoBoost, but both are over priced, plus after being "burned" with an AWD Lincoln MKZ, which leaked like mad from the transfer unit, I decided I no longer need or want an AWD and both cars only come with AWD.

Had a Taurus SHO for a few days last week as a rental driving all around Ohio. I was surprised to have a SHO model, even more shocked to see it had 42,000 miles on the ticker- but that was OK as it is about the same mileage as my Genesis- so a better comparo.

Likes-
Paddle Shifter (though not Posche-like -delayed shifts)
Deep, contoured seats that hold you
Quiet ride
Good Instrumentation
Gas mileage with lead foot- 26mpg
Cavernous trunk- like they welded on a Lincoln Town Cars! Perfect for the Mob Boss body disposal unit!

Dislikes-
Lots of blind spots- here , there, everywhere
Ford's damn directionals (blinkers) can wake the dead! (CLICK CLICK CLICK)
Rear end hop- not as sure footed (even though AWD) on bumps as Genesis
No trunk release button - anywhere except on Keyfob!
Strange reverse gearing- yes- I tried laying down rubber in R too
Interior "hard plastic" materials.

Given the amount of crap he was given for posting those videos, I'm not the least bit surprised he pulled them.

i wish he would repost maybe on photobucket and just leave link in here? i would love to see it. my friend just got one of the SHO's and he's talking all kinds of nonsense (but he is getting the tune and some other mods so i won't be chasing him down any time soon lol
