  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2009 Genesis V8 vs. 2010 Taurus SHO ***VIDEO***

I would wait till Genesis Sedan 5.0 R-Spec will be released... Light-weight 8-speed transmission and 430 raw horsepower. Put some carbon fiber wheels with light-weight tires and this thing will fly. Nasty fast.

Is there a way to borrow the vehicle for a few months? A test drive isn't enough before dishing out all that money.

I'll give you a recap, they were neck and neck until about 60mph (estimate), then the Genesis pulled away.

cheez: Have you driven a 4.6? It is pretty fast as-is, it scared me the first time I floored it to pass somebody... It could use a little help down low though (or less nannying). If they nanny the 5.0 like they do the 4.6 it will be a crying shame IMHO.

how i agree with the nannying lol.. i thought GM put alot of torque management on their performance cars but NEVER did i imagine it to be so restrained. i also agree when you go to pass somebody at about 50-60 it's an animal. you can get over 100 without even noticing on a passing maneuver.

Yes I have, the 4.6 that is.:) It was fast. It was only a 15 minute test drive though. It's not long enough for me to really get to know about the car... anything from power to handling as well as the reliability of the vehicle and how well the parts are put together. I need to borrow the vehicle for a month or two before deciding what to do... In addition, I would like to run against one of these big puppy with my '11 Mazdaspeed 3 in the highway. Never had the chance to run them.

The problem (while some others may not consider this as a problem) with Ford is that they shortened the SHO gearing on first 3 or 4 gears to increase acceleration performance. This car is designed more for quarter mile from dig. No wonder this big fat pig pulls so well at low speeds. Once you get near 100 mph it starts to run out of steam quickly... Genesis 4.6 has gearing designed for all range of speeds. This is why the Genesis pulls steady and hard well beyond 100 mph and all the way to the top speed. I hope the 5.0 R-Spec version improved gearing for both low and high speeds in addition to better fuel economy. 5.0 R-spec is meant for performance, right?

Darn I wish he hadn't pulled these :-).
