If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 genesis sedan - price paid

I bought a Genesis 5.0 in January of this year for 36,and some change. It was 39,000 out the door. That's with dealer fees, delivery and Tax, Tag and Title with 50 miles new. The cars in service date is the day I bought it.

I found my black 2012 R-spec on cars.com for $29.990. Its Hyundai certified with 26k miles. It was a Hyundai corp lease; the "work address" in the nav system is the same address as the Hyundai plant in Alabama. The key fob was labeled "President". I've added a lip spoiler, tint, and wings everywhere but the hood. Awesome car!

2013 Genesis 3.8 with Tech package, iPod cable, sunroof deflector, cargo tray, and front/rear badges for $37,5k with everything except Tag/Tax/Title. About $40k out the door?

Is that a good, great, or bad deal?

No response?

Hello Friend,
I do not know what your sticker was, that is why there have been no comments.
For me, I bought a 2012 Genesis with a $36,300 sticker last December for about $25,900. I find the best time to buy a car is at Christmas time just before New Yeas eve. I got over 10k off, so I would expect everyone to if they wait til rebates are maxed and the cars must be sold off the books.

I like new cars every year and this helps me keep depreciation down.
I am currently looking at a new 2012 4x4 truck with 12k off sticker for only 24k.

Frank

MSRP for Tech is 44k, circle pricing is 41k and we all should know that.
With that 37k looks attractive however no idea what sort of rebates or coupons are bundled in which could make deal less sweet.

Bought today, a new untitled 2012 Genny 4.6 near Orlando for $34,500. (color combo I'd never seen before -- Titanium & Saddle) Warranty starts today.

Dealer said they lost money, but were happy to move the vehicle. :)

This is my FOURTH Genesis sedan (one 3.8, and three 4.6). I guess I like them!

Does this have the tech and premium package on it? What was the sticker price? Thanks!

3.8 2014 this past Friday, with Premium Package 02 (sun roof, 14-speaker Lexicon sound system, auto rear window curtain, etc.).

MSRP $40,805
Dealer price - $34,732 (included $2,500 "bonus cash"), included everything except taxes, tags, and $199 dealer prep.

I live in Virginia, where the dealer prep is generally much higher, so it makes the trek to Maryland, where I bought it, worthwhile.

And I got $19,000 for my 2013 Sonata Limited with 9957 miles on it, less the $5,500 I still owed on it. Wrote them a check for $23,013.

The only haggling was how much they would give me for the Sonata. I wanted $19,500 (based on KBB and Black Book), they offered $18,000 to start but quickly came up to the $19,000 we settled on. "I'm an inch away from buying this car," I told them. "Don't blow it."

So I paid $19,000 - $5,500 + $23,013 = $36,513 OTD.

Fitgerald Auto Mall in North Bethesda, MD. They have the best auto web site out there; almost all the other dealers here in the DC area use what is obviously a Hyundai-supplied template for their all-very-similar-appearing sites. Fitzgerald's has huge detail on every car they sell, along with a lot of consumer info. But what I like best is the fact that you can actually make a very good calculation of what the car will end up costing you, even before you talk with anyone.

congrats. Great price. What color is it?

(Assuming you're talking to me...)

It's Caspian black with cashmere interior. I've already ordered the trunk and hood wing badges off eBay via Korea. ;)

Don't know if it's a "great" price, since I got it for only about $6k off MSRP. Some people here claim you can get $10k off MSRP if you look hard enough; that may even be true, though I don't recall seeing anyone claiming they've actually done it.

Great color combo. That is not even offered in Canada.
The great price I was talking about was the OTD price you said you paid. In Canada, Hyundai is showing $10,000 off list before haggling on R Spec and Tech and $9,500 off for Premium Pkg, but it starts at a lot more than in the states. That price in Canada is for 2013 MY as we never had any 2014's here. It isn't even listed on their website.

Well, there's the currency valuation difference. Canadian dollar is worth about $0.90 US.

US MSRP for premium package 3.8 is about $40,600 - $40,800 (I guess adding in wheel locks and cargo net and such accounts for the $200 difference).

So since it costs about $1.10 Canadian to buy $1.00 US, $40,600 US = about $44,660 Canadian, which is more or less where your link's 2013 is at.

I agree with the currency difference now, but the price was the same when the $ was at par. Just one of the things that we deal with here. But the companies have higher costs to deal with here, so you can't fault them.

Well, you could just drive over to Buffalo, New York and buy one there... Of course, you'd be paying with cheaper Canadian dollars so the U.S. dealer would demand a higher price.

Maybe bitcoins?

I have read that Canadian arm of auto companies are denying warranty for vehicles that are bought in the states and brought back here. I am not certain ifthat is true or not. You also have to change over the speedo to read in km's and pay sales tax..... you would have to save much more on the purchase price to cover everything as the taxes alone are 13%.

Got what I think is smoking deal, that convicted me I should wait another year for the new 2015 5.0:

New 2013 R-Spec (in GA)
48.3K MSRP
-10K insentives & rebates.
-6K For 2006 Sonata LX been in (few registered) accident(s).
- Additional arm twisting
+ GA Taxes
= $35,321 Out of the door. :D

Included in the deal, wheel locks, wings install, cargo tray/net, synthetic oil change.

Kept the 2009 4.6 (with 45K miles) for the Mrs., since I still have few years of the HMA extended warranty, and will trade it in next year..

I think I left around ?$350? on the table, but felt sorry for the dealer as they need to make a living.

Brand new member here and love the site. I was not even in the market for a genesis sedan but was reading the newspaper and saw some hyundai dealerships advertising $10k off the sedan. I found a new 2013 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 with premium and tech package and got a killer deal on a demo model that had 2000 miles. Showed the dealer a truecar quote I found for $31,598 for the tech package and they were reluctant to match but after some haggling and got them to take $33K OTD including CA taxes and fees. So I paid below 30k before taxes and didnt trade anything in. Was also able to bring down the extended warranty price to $1200.

Congrats... Welcome to the club here.
