The details on the purchase are as follows:
2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 V6 (White/Saddle, Stock # 2027H)
MSRP: $35,050
Internet Sales Price $31,375
Competitive Rebate $ 1,500 (Acura TL qualifies)
Price AFTER Rebate $29,875 Plus Tax & License
My trade was a 2007 Acura TL with Navi that had 69,565 miles and in good condition. KBB Trade value was $16,275; Car Max offered me $15,200. The dealer gave me $15,900 which I accepted.
In addition I received .9 percent financing for 48 months.
They originally quoted me $31,375 which I got a local dealer to match and they were going to give me $16,000 on my trade. I actually accepted the offer from the local dealer. Approximately 30 minutes later Glendora Hyundai phoned and told me they found out that the $1,500 competitive rebate was offered on the 2012's as well and that with that the price was $29,875.00. I called the local dealer back and they told me that the price was $500. behind their holdback price and they would not match the price or even come close. They cautioned me to be leary of a bait & switch.
As the dealership was 35 miles away I actually left 45 minutes prior to my wife and daughter, thinking that in all probability they may not honor the quoted price. When I arrived we sat down at the computer they put the numbers in exactly how they quoted it. I called my wife and said come and sign.
We bought no extended warranty (they didn't even try to hard sell it) and their was nothing added to the car as dealer options. They were actually pulling the shipping plastic off the vehicle when I arrived.
I have never purchased a vehicle like this as I am one that actually loves the negotiating game. This was way too easy and actually a pleasant experience.
As stated before I used the ZAG auto pricing under AMEX when searching for th 2011. None of the dealers had the 2012 prices loaded into ZAG as of Saturday.
Hope this helps!!
