2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD Vibration Problems

All,

I just got 4 new tires put on the Genesis. I got the continental dws 06's. Vibration is gone! Car handles much better too. I got the tires 3 of the 4 tires warrantied through Michelin had to pay the difference and for labor. Not a bad deal. I'm trying through HMA to see if I can get the rest of it back.

I also got a neat peace of info from HMA as well, they put the Michelin tires on the car due to the Ultra High Performance Tires not giving such a luxury ride (the original hankooks were ultra high performance). The grand touring all season tires ruin the car's suspension as Lotus did a PHENOMENAL job of tuning the car. It handles much better with the new tires.
I am having same problems you had with my Genesis. Im curious about the success you had with the conti dws 06 change. Is the car still riding free of vibration? Thanks for your help

Hello all,

I found this very valuable forum after I purchased brand new 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD in couple weeks ago. The car was factory equipped w/ Michelin tires. Those tire pressure was reading at 40 psi when I got it.

And I felt that same vibration/shake on my feet, seat and steering wheel during 45 mph+ and more at 60mph+. It isn't much as my wife is telling me she can't feel it much. Anyways, I researched on-line to see if anyone was having this issue and that's how I found this forum.

So I took it to the dealer two days ago at 260 mileages to have it check and they stated that they found slight flat spot on the tires. They told me the car was manufactured in April and got delivered to the dealer in November. So it must be parked for 6-7 months long. They said balance, alignment are checked ok and lowered the pressure to 35 psi. The vibration was reduced but still there and it should go away as tire thread wears out. They said to drive until first oil change in couple months and come back if the problem still exists. I actually feel less vibration now but still exists (little to none at 0-45 mph and little at 55 mph+).

I ask them about tire exchange but they we're not willing to do that as the issue isn't serious enough to the level. (Maybe if I keep bit**ing about it?) And reading thru Michelin warranty book, it states that those flat spots are not covered. (But that's not my fault!)

It's really nice car but driving a car knowing this issue bothers me. It's dilemma as should I keep driving w/ this tires on like the dealer said? or just go to third party tire shop specialist and swap it w/ something else w/ possible extra expenses... If the problem goes away like they said, it will be good. But if not, it might be too late to swap them at third party shop. I don't know... Like everyone else, I hate the going back and forth battle w/ dealer for the same issue.

Hey - new to forum as well. Pick up my new 2015 3.8AWD about a month ago. Had a similar issues with the OEM Michelin tires flat spotting after the car sat. They would "round out" after about 5 miles and were then fine.

I skipped the dealer all together and took the car to Belle Tire. Told them the issue I was having. The guy proceeded to get the data for my tires and called Michelin. He never drove the car. After about 10 minutes on the phone he told they would be covered under warranty. He also told me he didn't sell that specific tire but that Michelin had agreed to cover any Michelin tire. We proceeded to order the best ones available for my car.

Simple and easy - no questions asked.

All,

The car is doing well 5k miles later. I have some vibes after the car has been sitting for a while but it goes away after a few miles. With the Michelin tires I always had a vibration which wouldn't go away. The handling and snow performance of the 06's is outstanding for an all season tire.

I just purchased a 2016, and have a vibration issue. Barely noticeable below 55 mph, and very, very noticeable at 80 mph.

I was thinking alignment but after reading this thread, it must be the Michelin's.

Car was built Aug 31, 2015 and I took delivery April 2, 2016, so it did sit for 7 months. Had 24 miles on the odo.

If the Michelins were put on the by the dealer or distributor (at port of entry) to replace the Hankook's that were recalled, probably just not balanced correctly. Personally, I would not let a Hyundai dealer ever install tires on my car.

didn't the 2016 v6 come standard with the primacy mxm4s instead of the hankooks??

The Primacys are on my 2016 Genesis. I've driven it over 200 miles and would think any flat spots would have smoothed out.

I don't think it is a flat spot. I would have Discount Tire or Costco rebalance your tires (tell them your problem).

I’m having the same problem the vibration is very very slight. I had to get a new tire around October November last year due to a bubble in the tire. So I ordered a new one wasn’t same tire because they discontinued them but bought the replacement of that one. I just got my tires balanced and it’s still there. Not sure if it’s because of the new tire. My other 3 tires have about 25k miles on them
