There is a significant difference in the way they were launched, the V6 started higher in the power band. The V8 did not. That said, the V6 has plenty of power. The V8 has considerably more, but you wouldn't miss it so much. What you do get with the V8 is a much smoother engine overall and the continuous damping suspension.
 
If i was to race my friends 2015 GS350, would I get smoked?? I have 3.8 Ultimate.
 
Spend the extra money and pick up a 5.0. You will not be disappointed :D
 
For a car that got a lot of press at launch, I'm surprised the Genesis hasn't gotten a full test from any of the car mags I subscribe to (C&D, Automobile, Motor Trend, Road & Track).

What I have seen shows the V6 AWD at about 7.3 to 60. A couple of tenths quicker than a Chrysler mini van.

Without the AWD its about .5 faster at around 6.7.

The 5.0 time is around 5.2.

All times seem to be give or take .2 either way depending on conditions and who did the testing and how.

Regardless, two seconds to 60 is an enormous difference and 1.5 seconds is pretty big, too.

But you are comfortable with mini van type acceleration the V6 will be fine.

Personally, I own a Chrysler mini van and I've always thought it's acceleration was fine, for non-spirited driving.
 
Did you watch the V6 acceleration video? Does that look like minivan performance? I don't know how the magazines were able to get 7 seconds, I consistently get between 5.8 and 6.3 seconds. I know Motorweek tested the V8 version and got around 7 seconds which I thought was impossible. So many variables involved when timing acceleration.

I don't believe that slow acceleration of the V6 AWD for a second. CarandDriver recorded a much more in line acceleration time of 6.2 sec and 5.9 for the V6 RWD.

"Pro" times are in a range between 5.9-6.2 for RWD and 6.2-6.4 for AWD. Car and Driver are known for their aggressive launch tactics. If you just floor it like a regular person, mid and high 6's are certainly likely and depending on altitude, temp, etc., maybe even low 7's uncorrected.
 
When someone comes out with a chip to remap it, an intake and exhaust...the V6 will have much lower times.

Motor Week had the AWD at 7.2. Others at 6.2-6.4. Surprisingly, no one I could find had the RWD 6.3-6.4. It would be odd for the AWD and RWD to be the same.

5.0 is pretty consistant at 5.0-5.4.

That's true for both of them. Notice the initial delay on the V8 before the engine really digs in. While that could be ESC, I suspect that's there to protect the transmission (when I'm driving it I don't feel like the ESC is kicking in; just a delay before responding).
 
BTR posted this week on Facebook that they are working on a tune for the 2015 V8. It didn't mention anything about the V6 but since that model engine is the bigger seller, I expect one for that model as well.
