  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis break-in period

excatly its impossible lol but keep trying :D

Sorry first things first. I do not recomend you follow any of the below advice as it is ment for me only. the best way to break in a car is to let it know who will be driving it. you show the car who you are and let the car show you who she is. just my opinion though. the first thing i did with my 2013 r spec was..... Drag strip at 12.8 @ 116mph

My 2010 4.6 genesis cruises at 50mph @ 1600 rpm and 70mph@1900 rpm. How are we supposed to break it in between 2K and 4K rpm? :)
no kidding. I had to drive it home 2 hrs at 85 mph.[emoji106]

By using manual shift mode and putting the transmission in the gear that gets you the right rpm's for the speed you need to be driving, instead letting the automatic transmission select the gear.

Gosh, I ain't buying a car with an auto transmission to manually shift it :)

One thing you don't want to do is drive it at the same RPM for long periods for the first 600 miles (avoid using cruise control). Driving at 1800-1900 RPM is fine, so long as you accelerate to a higher RPM every few minutes, and then slow down again.

im just a lucky guy then cuz i run the dog s%#t out of my car the first three monts i have them
Driving the car aggressively is actually better than babying it, so long as you stay away from redline during first 600 miles. Also, make sure to let the engine completely warm up before driving it hard.

know i ment brandishin or bed-in other word for it. it depends on your brakes if you dont brandish it will cause the systoms you just mentioned

Huh? You can't just make up words and add your own definitions. The word you are trying to remember is burnishing, not brandishing. Beyond that, as I said earlier, Hyundai does not recommend it.

Bought a new BMW some years ago in Frankfurt via the military PX system. Drove it like hell as far as Utrecht, Holland before it needed the front brake rotors resurfaced. Learned my lesson the hard way during the first few hundred miles.

You're telling me? Just got a brand spankin new 13 RSpec. Had to go out on a 2 lane blacktop to work both days. Car had 180 miles on it, and driving at 62MPH (100kilometers/hour, the engine is revving at 1500RPMs. Now on the 2 lane, speed limit is 50mph, so my RPMs drop even further. Even adjusting the speed regularly, I cannot get the car to go past 2000RPM. So I downshifted into 7th gear. No such luck! Went down further to 6th...okay, now we are at 2000/2100RPMs at 55/50mph, but the miles to empty starts to diminish. Long story short...drove it in lower gear, and still have a ways to go before I hit that magic 600 mile mark

My plan when I get mine is to take a 600+ mile road trip. Heading down to the Keys from the Treasure coast then come back up and take Alligator alley across the state to see my mom in Venice then up to see my brother in Lake Wales Florida. Back home to the Treasure Coast and should be well over the 600 mile mark in a two day weekend trip.

Get to learn the car, enjoy the scenery and visit family.

Someone here posted that it was 600 miles. Can anyone direct me where this is in writing?
Welcome, I am also on the Treasure Coast and purchased my 2014 6cyl Genesis from Wallace in Stuart. I was told by sales that there was no break-in period, after a few weeks we completed a 1500 mile round trip. No problems car is great one of the best
we have ever had. Just a little concerned about the service.s

You asked a salesperson? Read the Owner's Manual.

Your road trip is unlikely to be problem unless you the type of person to redline the car when it is brand new.
