  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis Sedan shakes/wobbles

It amazes me how dealers blatantly lie - it's a damn shame, but they can't be trusted to do the right thing.

My dealer has been as helpful as they can but HMA has not. I've had to give up on HMA and am getting used to the fact that I have to incur the cost of a new set of wheels and just endure a sunroof that doesn't perform like the rest of the car does, all the while putting up with the flat-spotting. :( Oh, well.

Since you're in Michigan ckon, call this guy: http://lehtoslaw.com/

He writes often on Jalopnik and he gives great advice in his pieces.

Both you and Tee need to start looking at your states' Lemon Laws.

I may do that, though my time limit is questionable. Thanx.

Did you purchase Hyundai tire/wheel protection?

When I spoke to the dealer again this morning I asked them to get the factory people involved. They said no. Do I have any other options that I can pursue?

After monitoring this forum for several months I don't recall see any reports that anyone has solved the flat spot symptoms by repair or replacement of tires and/or wheels. Unless I missed something my conclusion is that the problem lies somewhere in the chassis.
Do you just have just "flat spot" vibration or do you have dynamic driving vibration after the tires warm up too? There seems to be two vibration modes.

No. I never have, and I've never needed it, but I'm sure gonna consider it in the future. :)
I didn't either, I cheaped it out and bought road hazard insurance from Discount Tire.

Yeah, but that doesn't protect the wheels, right?

That's starting to look like a good idea. I haven't talked to him yet, but it seems like just the flat spot issue alone may qualify for a cash settlement.

Hold on to all your receipts and service slips.

I had a case with an old Datsun (That tells you how long ago that was!) where I had air conditioner problems. It was a bad condenser, but being a poor student, I couldn't afford to replace it as the car was out side of the warranty.

Eighteen months later, I get a letter saying that if I can prove that I had the problem six months prior to the letter, I could get reimbursed for my repair expense or get it fixed. Being a pack-rat paid off! :D

Just chiming in here, I have a 3.8 AWD and at highway speeds (100km/h+) there is a noticeable wobble/vibration. I took the car in to check the wheel balance (dealer installed but aftermarket wheels) and it hasn't improved. My car came with the Michelins already on the car so no Hankook issue here.

I thought I was nuts but it seems like this is a thing.

He seems like a good guy that writes great articles over at Jalopnik:
https://kinja.com/stevelehto

I've emailed him once before for a separate issue on my 550i and I got a response within an hour.

I've initiated contact with him to ask him a few questions. We'll see what happens. Thanx again for the link. :)

Keep us updated ;)

I just heard from him and he thinks I have enough to proceed. We have to send a last chance letter as the next step and we'll see where it goes from there.

Good to hear that the ball is rolling for a possible Lemon Law claim.

Thanx - I'll keep you posted but it will probably be a couple of weeks now before we hear anything. I sure am sick and tired of this vibration!
