Today I was given the opportunity to test drive a 2015 Genesis AWD 3.8. My first impression upon seeing the car in person for the first time is that pictures and videos do not do this car justice. The car is simply stunning from every angle even as dirty (exterior) as it was. The interior was essentially still wrapped in plastic.
The interior is simply gorgeous and a significant improvement over my 2012, 3.8, which I truly love by the way. The seats, with the adjustable support under the legs, was a nice touch and the panoramic roof is a must have. I read somewhere that the 2015 no longer had rear seat warmers but this is not true as they were clearly there. The car had two of the three option packages. It did not have the package that contained the 17 speaker Lexicon stereo system but the 14 speaker system seemed to be OK however I must admit that I did not really focus on it.
I did not notice any difference in power despite the reduction of HP. The car blasted onto the highway with ease. I must say that the AWD seemed to be a bit nosier than my RWD, an observation that was also noticed by my son who was in the front passenger seat next to me but it was not significantly nosier.
Handling was great (as I expected) and I did not notice any immediate difference from my 2012 during the short 15 minute test drive which included both highway and street driving.
All in all, I was very, very impressed. Trust me told, I salivated all over the place. This car is a head turner and is a nice improvement over previous models. I am told that it will probably take at least one - two months before dealers get any appreciable level of inventory so I guess I will just have to be patient.
