  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Electrical Issues

If your car is under warranty, the dealer should replace the stalk. Some 2015's had issues with the stalk/switch, and there is a revised part.
One of the problems reported was headlights failing. One morning last year, mine flashed off after making a right turn. They came back on shortly, but it was not like the auto light system had shut them down. I took the car in, got a loaner, and the dealer had my stalk replaced the next day. No issues since then. IIRC this was only on early builds.

The problem is they can't reproduce it while they have it. And the sales guy keeps telling me the video will not be sufficient to just have them start replacing parts.

So I escalated it with Hyundai and maybe I'll do a social media post and tag Hyundai. to show them how dangerous it is.

Your dealer is staffed with Idiots!
My mechanic at the dealer reports.... yep... the lights flickered! ;)

HMA - OK! Replace the stalk.
...This is not a search for the truth!

Well unfortunately I can't get them to budge. Even with video and they can never reproduce it. But it does happen once or twice every few weeks up to month. So we see what HMA says.

Prior to CANbus, cars with electrical problems were considered lemons of the first order--they could not be fixed.
Now with CANbus, cars with electrical problems are considered lemons of the first order--they cannot be fixed.

And that's not because people haven't tried. I once saw a mechanic completely disassemble a fully-optioned 1973 Ford Country Squire and replace the _entire_ wiring harness. It was quite a sight.

Is there any value in doing a system reset? (Removing the positive battery terminal for 1 min and reconnecting?) There are some people that swear by this. Even if the vehicle they own isn't causing any issues, they still reset the system once or twice a year.

Just wondering what you guys think.

I think it may be worth a try if you have problems. I think to reset it once or twice a year if you do not have problems is plain nuts and an opportunity to introduce problems.

I figured so Ed.

I am having this same exact turn signal issue as described. car is very early production 15 model. It is at the dealer now.

I'd also like to add the epb and autohold lights will randomly both come on by themselves and the car will not move. This usually happens when leaving it running while I'm doing something in the house. I come back out and go to put it in reverse and it will not move and both of those lights are on on the dash. neither the parking brake or the auto hold will respond. I have to turn the car off and back on and it will move again. I have video of this and its in the shop for this issue at the same time. just putting this on the forum for others to see someone else has had the issue. I tried searching for Ebrake issues on the forum, but couldn't find anything specific to what i'm talking about other then the ebrake would not disengage.

If there is nothing wrong don't mess with it.

Yup I change my +too and been running fine now I got a problem wit the D on the dash don't show and some time whe. Shifting to D itdont go stay at N

I'm experiencing a blue screen when I put car in reverse. Old camera will go in and out at times. I replaced with new oem camera and it just stay blue. I still see the writing and lines but it's blue. Head unit it picking up signal too. What could be the problem? 2015 Genesis G80 3.8L

probably broken wires in the right passenger side of the trunk wire harness. well known issue and documented diy fix.

Like mentioned. The wiring harness that has the passenger side taillight wires and back up camera cable is known to break said wires/cable due to a misplaced factory installed wiring harness bracket that places too much tension on the wires when the trunk open and closes.

The fix is to splice the taillight wires back together and relocate the harness mount location; however a damaged rear view camera cable may require an new harness since the camera cable cannot be easily spliced like normal electrical wiring.

Thank you! I'll advise the dealership this Monday

You are welcome.:)

Hyundai issued a TSB specifically for the issue your Genesis is having so the dealership should know what to do to correct it.

Do you know where/how I can reference the TSB? The dealership in going to seem to have no awareness about this.

I got the information from the Hyundai service website for a small fee. I would try a different dealership if the service techs cannot find information about TSB or service campaigns on the Genesis or G80 models.

I should not have to do their jobs for them. A Hyundai service tech can easily find the information.

Thank you for your help! I found the TSB via Google as well. I'll vet the dealerships prior to service. Thanks again

No problem.

I listed it anyway to help you. It is sad that a Hyundai service department did not even try to look it up; hence why I do my own repair work.
