  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Electrical Issues

I just had a problem with my new Genesis 3.8 that is baffling. It was working fine and yesterday morning it was DOA. I mean really dead, no interior lights and everything locked up. I hooked up a charger and it wouldn't register any voltage or take a charge. Unless I can figure out something, it's flatbed time. Any ideas?

Definitely sounds like a drained battery. Before flat-bedding, perhaps you can take the AGM battery (which doesn't charge like a typical battery) into a shop to get a trickle re-charge?

I read the two links, and wanted to report that something happened to my Nav screen but not identical to what were described here. At around 300 miles on the car, I started the car, pressed a couple of buttons (I forgot which ones I pressed), suddenly the bottom couple inches of the screen showed a funny superimposed mini-screen. The mini-screen seemed to be the same as the one normally seen after pressing the voice command button (I could not recall if I did press the voice command button or not) except it was compressed into two inches on the bottom of the Nav screen. I hurried up and pressed the Nav button and the screen was restored to a normal Nav screen. However, at that point, I noticed that the mpg, trip A and trip B data have all been reset by themselves. This never happened again. The car has about 1100 miles now.

For those that reported the electronic parking brake locking up, did that occur when the owner engaged the EPB? Or does it engage on its own and then it couldn't be manually disengaged?

Re: 2015 Genesis--The driver side rear power window is stuck in the closed position. The window lock is OFF. Using the switch on the Drivers door or the effected rear window switch does nothing. The right rear window is OK as it all the other windows. The manual provides a reset procedure which I tried with out result. Any ideas here?

See your dealer. You seem to have tried the stuff that would work already.

blind spot radar shows car in blind spot when I am the only car around. So naturally when I put my lane change signAL ON THE WARNING BLARES A HORRIBLE loud SOUND. bEEN ADDRESSED TWICE. sTARTED AGAIN. aLSO THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD CHANGE MODES DAY OR NIGHT FROM OFF, ON, HIGH BEAM no beam. tHEY DID REPLACE SOMETHING AND THAT HASN'T

Had the drivers front window fail to go down twice now. Reset by holding the switch fixed it the first time. Just started working for no reason after I jacked with it for 15 minutes the 2nd time. I hope something just blows up so I can get it replaced and move on...

I've had the Homelink Garage Door button on the rear view mirror "lose" programming twice in the last month - never had that happen on my 2015. As none of the other cars/remotes in the house have had this problem, it appears to be a Genesis-related issue. I hope it was just random glitching and not the start of an ongoing issue or "gremlins" as well.

Had to take my Genny in to get the electronic power steering fixed (mouse ate through harness) and had them look at the wonky windows. They replaced part 93570-B1010-4X. It's all working for now, will report back if it fails.

In the market for a 2015 3.8L, and have one I have my eye on, but there is one concern.

Bought (not leased) in March of this year.

A couple of entries in the Carfax history showing "Body Electrical System Checked"
One at about 4,200 miles (2 months after purchase),
a second at about 15,000 miles (7 months after purchase).
Was traded in a month later.

Frankly I'm a little wary, but I'd like to get some feedback from Genesis owners:
Does this sound like a Major Red Flag, or a minor / routine concern?

Thx!

OK Where to begin...
Start with the left side blind spot detector going off for NO reason... Been in twice - new "camera" and reflash... no luck...
Dead battery - TWICE (Car has 3,800 miles on it) Once without remote started - one with.
The Genesis "wing" that used to illuminate between the speedo and tach (when you opened the door) - no longer does (or does it when it feels like it)...
The dealer has blamed the problems on an aftermarket remote starter... So- I had it removed... Guess what - no difference...! The company that does the starters is very reputable and does the remotes for other Hyundai dealers.
The "You're too close " sensor - in the front, comes on when your stopped at a light behind a car (in the rain, only)...

At this point - the vehicle is going back to the dealer - and IS STAYING THERE until the Gremlins are gone. If they can't fix it - I will unload this "CAR"

Needless to say - I am very soured ... Don't know whether to get it to the dealer - or call in a priest for an EXORCISM ! ! !

mine did the same thing, check the positive battery terminal in the trunk, mine was so loose i could just lift it off.

The parking proximity detectors can false alarm when other brand cars with the same type of system are near. The different acoustic systems can interfere with each other. Mine will go off sometimes when waiting at a red light and a newish beemer or volvo goes by. Also it will go off if I pull close to a stopped car at a light. Solution - don't get so close or turn it off temporarily.

My 15' genny sedan has left me 5 times with a dead battery. Car was purchased 7/1/16 and has 4000 miles on it. Has been in the shop 25 days this month. 3 battery's a body module and still goes dead... The blind spot detectors alert when there's no cars present. I mentioned "the word buyback " to Hyundai and am now not able to get a return call from the factory rep. Have left 5 messages for her - Have called Hyundai customer service 3 time , requesting a call back and have called the Headquarters in California twice (apparently they don't have any clout with the reps either)..... STILL NO CALLBACK.... THIS IS SOME GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE REP!!!! WHAT A WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS!

I've had intermittent issues with my drivers side window working/not working. Playing with the button has resolved it in the past, but not anymore. It's dead in the water. Called the dealer. Was told I would need to leave the car for THREE DAYS!!! Three days to fix a window switch?

I have the same issue with the "you're too close" sensor beeping at me when I'm stopped - always when it's raining (and in Portland OR, it's always raining. Annoying as heck.

I would like to ad Turn Signal Issues:

1. When engaging turn signal the headlights flicker on and off
2. When engaging turn signal the headlights rapidly and repeatedly switch between Auto and Office (Per the dash board) separate from issue 1 above.
3. The DRL randomly do not come on. Either both work or only one works
4. The front turn signals randomly will not work and I get a FAST Blinking Signal in the car. Initially got a fast blinking right, days later the right just started working, no more fast blinking on the right. Then today the left started fast blinking and now the left front turn signal is not working.

Same, I been working with the dealership on this for a while now even have it on video, but video doesn't work for Hyundai so I escalated to corporate.

Its believed to be the combination switch issue. Worse case I'll buy a new switch and install it myself.

If your car is under warranty, the dealer should replace the stalk. Some 2015's had issues with the stalk/switch, and there is a revised part.
One of the problems reported was headlights failing. One morning last year, mine flashed off after making a right turn. They came back on shortly, but it was not like the auto light system had shut them down. I took the car in, got a loaner, and the dealer had my stalk replaced the next day. No issues since then. IIRC this was only on early builds.
