If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Now that I have seen the pricing on the 2015 and have gotten appraisals on my 2010 4.6 Tech, I am questioning how badly I want to pursue the 2015. That and knowing that almost any G8 GT and GXP is worth far more today than almost any used Genesis even though it cost less, I may be looking more seriously at the Chevy SS. I had an 06 GTO and it was not a bad car. I had no problems other than a reverse light switch and sold it after 4 years for more than I can get for my 4 year old Genesis. The GTO returned almost 66% of retail after 4 years and the Genesis is at about 48% after 4 years. Even today 8 year old GTO with similar mileage to my Genesis are worth about 50% of retail. My GTO was sold quickly and I fear I will die with the Genesis unless I trade it at about 40% of original cost. I have been looking around and $42.5k to $43.5k is a good price on a new Chevy SS and I feel that even Hyundai circle pricing on a new 5.0 Ultimate will be at about $50k and if I want to spend that amount I can get close to a 2014 CPO 5 Series, Audi S4 and certainly a loaded 335i. All of the electronic doodads that are on the car are just not that important to me and I want a good driving experience as far as handling and performance are concerned. I have been an ardent supporter of the Genesis and have had a good experience from both the car and the dealer but it is getting to where it is not the value it appears to be.

Or just buy the SS, rebadge with Genesis wings and REALLY confuse people :-)

Thanks for the sarcasm, after I went Hyundai I got endless grief from Acura guys so I was well prepared this time. Did you notice any Holdens as part of the recall? BTW, I cant hang any keys on my start button and I am going to keep the Chevy symbols, enjoy having my car being mistaken for a Malibu, impala and what not. High performance without tickets, that's the good stuff.

Sorry to learn your wife has already damaged your new SS. It took my wife two years to inflict her first blow on my Genesis.

Interesting, the 5 Series and the S4 are at the top of my list to replace my Genesis. I still want to check out the 2015 but that grill looks a little off to me, at least in the photos.

Wit the review embargo ending on Monday, we may get some fresh views on the handling and ride from the first batch of journalists and bloggers who were in Arizona this past week. I am also interested in the handling and rise, as that is what will be judged in the review when it is being matched up to BMW, MB and Audi in reviews. Car & Driver in their prototype review from last winter felt the car "... to be in need of further refinement for it to give the BMW 5-series or the Mercedes-Benz E-class anything to be nervous about".

Let's see how these reviewers see it after a few hundred miles in production cars last this week.

The chassis tuning is very different, check out the re views. Can't comment on older G8 interior but I feel right at home as far as interior in the SS and my wife likes the driving experience much more as the car is more responsive and has a more predictable handling feel as well as awesome braking feel. So whoever said they weren't in the same class, as far as performance goes Genesis is miles behind.

You misunderstand. I made no such comment on the way the the SS handles. From everything I've read, it handles quite well. That's really no surprise as the G8 handled well too. That wasn't the issue I had with the G8. The issues that I had with the G8 I owned were purely mechanical. There were serious issues with that car that GM refused to even acknowledge. The same mechanicals that were in my car are in the new SS. For that reason alone I won't even consider owning amother one.

The comments that I made about the interior were solely based on my being in both the SS and the 2015 Genesis. The SS simply isn't on the 2015 Genesis' level in that regard. For whatever reason, you mistook my opinion as me bashing your car and tried to discredit me because I don't own a Genesis or SS, when I am probably the only one here qualified to make that comparison having sat in both cars. Anyway, as I said before, the SS is a nice car and I wish you luck.

Yeah those reviews were based off condensed drives on a test track. It is my understanding that the Genesis was going through final testing at that time and consulted Lotus. When I saw that Lotus was consulted, that definitely raised my eyebrows, but I am trying to temper my enthusiasm before I see some real test numbers.

That makes two of us. Those last fall were also main stream auto magazines and journalists brought to Korea. This batch now in Arizona tweeting seem to be a combination of bloggers and social media people (some with no apparent auto background) as opposed to the auto journalists who will effect the mainstream media reviews. I assume they have had rides earlier or after these more consumer oriented groups.

would you care to be more specific of what mechanicals failed you in the G8 that made it over to SS? I assume you have matched part numbers and aren't just guessing. I'm not being defensive because you're talking about my new car, just didn't see any actual facts to support your comments.

If there is something wrong with the car I'd like to know prior to having an issue, obviously.

yea...I still can't figure out how she did it...but either way, a nice guy from Australia gave me a part # and I bought the only one off ebay.

$40 later the car is good as new.

First thing that comes to mind is the lower A arms, Upper strut bushings and rear end/half shafts. Those were big issues with the G8.

For engines, the V6 had timming chain issues that date back to the V6 in the caddy CTS prior to it being used in the G8. Same motor. And they still haven't addressed the issue.

And as you have found out, trying to get parts is another issue as you generally have to wait for them to ship from down under. But so do we with Hyundai parts.

NVH was absolutely awful. What started out as a low hum graduated to a loud and worrisome vibration. After numerous trios to the dealer, they could replicate(all they had to do was start it) but couldn't fix it. According to the shop manager, they wee getting similar complaints from other owners. They finally had a car in for a test bed and threw everything they could at it. They changed the driveshaft, bushings and even completely replaced the rear end. It still didn't fix the issue. GM did nothing. As far as they were concerned, Pontiac was dead. It was not fun whenever people asked me why my brand new car was shaking. I was lucky enough to unload the car to someone who was going to replace the drivetrain anyway. I had the V8, btw.

From all the post-embargo pics I saw the lights were either all the way on, or in this configuration. I never saw the LEDs on without the HIDs. And I never saw the HIDs off without the orange lights being on....

What is the point of LED "running lights" if they're only going to be on with the HIDs?

Still have not read any posts about 3.8 fog lights or lack thereof. Pics seem to indicate that there is something in the void where led lights would be as on the V8.

They're probably gratuitous fakes like the RSpec Coupe...

Thanks for posting that, and welcome to the forum.

I contacted Hyundai and they are contacting Marketing to fix the site. When you select an exterior color the car does not change nor does the 360 degree spin function.

56k for a loaded V8...Hyundai Circle can't even come close to fixing what's wrong with this picture. The equus is practically affordable now!

Who wants some LED headlights with that and AWD? that would be 60+
