2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

maybe the r-spec gets quads... hopefully

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

the pipes dont look that sooty

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Those seat controls look hideous...BUT finally full passenger seat controls!

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I don't like how the quad exhaust hangs below the bumper, at least thats how it looks in the picture. The 2012-13 with the exhaust as part of the bumper looks much better imo.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

This was posted in another thread, but since this is the "official" 2014 Genny thread, I figured I should post it here. New shots, along with an interior shot.

The roofline in back looks pretty cool. More flowing than the current generation, and the way that rear quarter window comes to an upswept point (like the coupe) gives it a sportier look. Not sure I like the taillamp treatment. Not digging the analog clock in the dash.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

The whole dash is off-putting, to me. Especially the fake wood on the passenger's side. Also not digging the air vents next to the nav screen. And why doesn't the center console (and dash) flow like the Azera!??! That would've made a lot more sense to me. And would've looked better.

I'm STILL not sold on the idea that anything you see TODAY is what we'll be getting in 2 years.

^I completely agree with every word^

I'll bet that's real wood veneer, just over-glossed to give it that fake shine (really, someone at Hyundai needs to point out that more natural looking finishes for wood is better and more upscale looking).

As for the overall design, while better than the current, is a disappointment.

Overly bland (looks similar to the dashes in the Equus and K9) and doesn't fit with the more modern looking sheetmetal.

Actually think that the Sonata has the best overall dash design (better than the Azera) out of the Hyundai sedans and that a similar design w/ much better materials would have fit better w/ the exterior (but then again, wouldn't want your luxury offering to be so similar in design to the mainstream offerings - see Phaeton).

Azera dash doesn't look good in person. I really hope picture of the new Genesis dash is first phase of multiple iterations. It's better than current style but not by a much. Also it doesn't look like there is paddle shifter on the steering wheel.

More I see more disappointing this is becoming. Just copy the Lexus GS dash!

Agree on dash... Looks 10 years old.
Especially not liking the analog temperature controls.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Hah Gene...thanks for helping out the lazy and linking all the pics to the thread:)

Some thoughts: I hope they retain the option for leather on the dash in place of the shiny wood. Most everyone that's been in my car notices the dash leather first.

I know it's a test mule...but it's got a DIS knob which currently implies Tech Package, but there's no sunroof which currently implies base V6 model? Perhaps everyone gets a DIS knob and screen now. Considering the Azera gets standard navi, I think this is likely.

I like the concept of the headlights, but there is too much "black space". The outer row of LED projectors are double-stacked, but the 2 inner aren't and it just looks unbalanced to me. Double-stack them all and use them as bright lights.

IMHO I think the dash/console is pretty classy in a last-gen 7-series kind of way. It is bit dated looking already I'll admit. Given where I think Hyundai wants to push this car, if it was more 2013 Lexus GS "technology" oriented I think it would be better. Though I have a soft spot for how the new Lexus interiors look reminiscient of 80s style Toyota dashes with all the buttons and angles of the dash. My Dad had a 1986 Toyota Corolla FX-16 GT-S...that was a hot hatch before they were cool, 112HP back then was a lot for 4-banger:cool:

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I like the interior; much more upscale and luxurious looking than the current Genesis.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I didn't post the pictures because they were watermarked and I didn't know if it was okay to post. I posted the pictures before these because they didn't have any watermarks. Next time I'll just post.

I happen to like the fact that the knobs are still there. Every carmaker seems to want to give everything a touch interface and I want nothing to do with that.

It should be ok as long as you post the source...which was posted above before Gene linked the pics.

+1! Also, the knobs IMHO are still easier. Everytime I adjust the HVAC in my Genny I have to look over at it b/c the current setup are all flat buttons with no tangible differences. The buttons visually looks nice, but are not very ergonomic.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I am in the market for a new vehicle this year.

Currently looking at the 2013 Azera, but also entertaining the idea of waiting for the next generation Genesis to come out.

The two things that concern me are:

1. Price. I can get a fully loaded Azera (w/ Tech package) for about $33900 using Hyundai Circle pricing. I'm afraid that the new Genesis is going to cost at least $10k more once optioned out (I'm a really techie guy and I love all the cool new features), and

2. Availability. There is no set date for the new Genesis to come out. People say anywhere between 2014-2015, and I really don't want to wait until 2015 to get a new car.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

^ I figure the 2G Genesis will start around $38-39k - making it around $4-5k more than a loaded Azera.

The base 2G Genesis should come with a little more tech than the 1G base Genesis and the 2G Genesis w/ the tech package should come w/ a good bit more additional tech than the 1G Genesis w/ the tech package, as well as the Azera (also, have to factor in that the Genesis will have a noticeably more upscale interior than the Azera and whether that price differential is worth it to you).

Don't think you have to worry about waiting until 2015; the 2G Genesis is scheduled to launch in Korea later this year and sometime in 2014 for NA (talk of 2015 more or less would have to do w/ the possibility of a 2015MY designation for the USDM Genesis while launching sometime in 2014).

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I agree with YEH. The Genny will be more money for a similarly sized car as an Azera, but the extra money is worth it IMHO. To me, an Azera is just a bigger Sonata inside and out. The Azera comes with a good amount of tech, so I'm actually doubting the 2G Genesis will have substantially more "goodies".

What you are paying for is a better interior and a RWD based chassis that should also drive and ride substantially better. The interior alone is worth it to me as I commute 1 hour each way and interior comfort/quality for me is a major factor in purchasing a car.
